I lived in Granville Road near the Dover patrol memorial with my brother and mother where we rented a 1 bedroom flat 1981-1989, it was such a small village. The primary school was (and is) outstanding. As French nationals, we could capture French TV on our French receiver on the white cliffs, way before satellite! My 1991 A'level Geography project was on the management of St Margaret's seashore and required much fieldwork at the beach! @6:17 No parking fees back then, it was free. Unfortunately, St Margaret's is completely unaffordable today. Lawyers, principally. Rocco Forte has a house there. Best to buy in Deal or Walmer for affordability.
Thanks so much for sharing. That sounds so cool especially watching the French TV. I would love to move to a place like this one day but as you say, it’s a shame it’s unaffordable now. My sister did move to Deal recently and loves it
Hi, I would be delighted if you would visit Broadstairs. I think it's a beautiful little town and above all the place that sparked my love for England. Unfortunately I haven't managed to get back there in the last few years so I would really love a report on Broadstairs from your perspective. Best regards
Thanks very much for your comment, you’ll be pleased to know Broadstairs is definitely on my upcoming videos. I’ve never been before but am hearing great things, just want the weather to cheer up first 🤪
Great stuff Jack I really enjoyed that. Maybe you could visit Manningtree in Essex, former home of the Witch-Finder General Mathew Hopkins, and home to some good pubs like the Red Lion and the Crown.
Your drone footage is amazing and I like your comment on you not making the weather and you deal with it. Absolutely, some things are in your control and some are not, but you are still pursuing your goal. Fantastic video!
Hey Jack Loved the video I first visited st Margaret’s in 1962 as Dad bought a holiday house that doubled as a place for his dear Mum We use to put a blanket down next to the Wall of Noel Cowards house and picnic, stay all day swim, climb the cliffs, crab and park for free. It’s all a bit posh down there now and the people down there seemed to have “annexed” the ground for their own? Anyways Near the building that looks like an upturned boat there used to be the old hotel swimming pool that use to belong to an old hotel on the beech It was very murky but we used to catch newts there as kids Also Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn spent Christmas with Noel Coward one year before Noel left the U.K. for tax reasons If you lived St Margaret’s on your visit you should have come see it in the 60s 70s You missed the channel swimmers leave from there I think and a whole host of other stuff but like you said There really is no place like it I was working in Holland in 1996 and a Dutch Guy told me he’d been to St Margaret’s and how he would never forget it because he’d driven his old American car down there one year but could not get it back up the bloody hill Told the police it had been stolen and got it back a couple weeks later Good job
Hi Charles thanks very much for your comment, I love hearing about what places used to look like and I would’ve loved to see this in the 70s. Hilarious about the car not getting back up the hill too, I nearly had the same experience 😄😄
The track at the top of the steps along the clliffe towards Kingsdown is worth capturing. France visible most days and includes amazing views from the dover patrol monument
Yes! Absolutely love that walk towards Kingsdown, pretty soon after the monument there’s a bench on the edge of the cliff where you suddenly feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere and as you say the views of France are amazing
Hello mate. Awsome video. I will be heading there for the week next week and was wondering, what was your phone signal like? Also, I will have to head to that pub! Ty for the advise😊
Hey thank you so much and I hope you have a great time. The phone signal can be fine but then suddenly change to French network and I don’t have free roaming , so keep an eye out for that! 😄
Yes, it's funny in a way how it think your in France. I was doing a walk to Dover - Deal and when I got to St Margaret Bay, there was a lady that was worrying what the time was, as she thought she was late to a party. I did a gig in the tea gardens a few year ago with my choir and they give us the wrong time. It's a shame, as since I did a gig there. Have not seen anything about events there.
Thanks so much, I actually posted a video of Dymchurch last year, and I’d love to visit Dungeness but apparently you need a permit to film on the estate 😩😩😩
I also thought the Whitehouse was ian Fleming Ian cochrane2707 is right.and this part of beach is private .thanks very interesting I live 8 mins away .
The road down is a nightmare it's very narrow and not many places to let vehicles pass and so you can get stuck and not be moving until a driver manages to move his vehicle out of the way to let others pass. Don't go in the Summer it will take you forever to drive down and back up again.
Thanks, in fact that’s one thing I wish I had said about in my video. Luckily there was literally no one around so it didn’t affect me but I can imagine in the summer it is a bit of a nightmare 😫
I personally thought the food was expensive (not at all posh). I could not afford those prices. for a holiday break, there does not seam anything to do in the video
That is fair enough. When the weather is hot and sunny it would be a great beach for a relaxing beach day, plus close to walk the white cliffs of Dover or the other way to Deal, so loads of stuff close by
While you’re here guys please don’t forget to hit the thumbs up button above! Thanks as always 👍
The white building on the beach is the house Ian flemming used to live in.
Wow I didn’t realise it was that one, I read it was on the cliff! Thanks that’s great to know
And the one Noel Coward owned.
Another lovely place 😊 thanks for sharing.
Thanks Roy 👍

Hi Jack
Another delightful video. I admire your positivity and energy. Keep them coming.
Christine
Thanks so much for your lovely comment Chris!
"I don't make the weather, I deal with it" 💪💪 Loved that!
Ha ha it’s my new motto 🤪
Another great video. Not only is it informative Noel you make me sm😊ile as well. Thank you 😊
Ha ha Noel!! Thanks so much Donna

Ahh thanks so much John! Manningtree isn’t too far from me at all so I will most certainly add it to my list of places to film this year

Thank you so much! Really is appreciated and that’s totally right about the weather, but it would be nice to make a video in the sun soon 🤣
Hey Jack
Loved the video

If you lived St Margaret’s on your visit you should have come see it in the 60s 70s
You missed the channel swimmers leave from there I think and a whole host of other stuff but like you said
There really is no place like it
I was working in Holland in 1996 and a Dutch Guy told me he’d been to St Margaret’s and how he would never forget it because he’d driven his old American car down there one year but could not get it back up the bloody hill

Didn't realise it but have been to that pub before, now i know where it was
Ha ha I’m glad I could have been of assistance. Defo one of my fave coastal pubs

Ha ha brilliant. So weird how you can just go to a village in England and suddenly be on France time 😄
good trip i have not been since working in Dover many years ago,how about a visit to Dymchurch my village or Dungeness where i live?.kettle on.
Thanks so much, I actually posted a video of Dymchurch last year, and I’d love to visit Dungeness but apparently you need a permit to film on the estate 😩😩😩
Dungeness is my favourite place, I love the RSPB site too. Amazing place to live 🤩
I also thought the Whitehouse was ian Fleming Ian cochrane2707 is right.and this part of beach is private .thanks very interesting I live 8 mins away .
Thanks very much, a great place to live
Check out the old town of Rye in East Sussex 🤠
It’s definitely on my list of places to film this year 😁
I'm taking note of all the facilities *not* open on Christmas Day.
Ha ha that freaks me out so much, why only that one day!
@@jackryanmiller hahaha
that cave was an Entrance to WW2 Anti-Invasion Defence Tunnels ive been in there its on my youtube channel
Amazing thanks, I’ll be sure to check it out 😄
That hidden cave may have been another wartime bunker.
Yeh I thought it might be something like that, so cool though. There was another cave I couldn’t get to because the tide was in too 😕
@@jackryanmiller maybe for a small boat
