Visit Westbrook Avenue and Royal Esplnade Margate which was owned by Henry VIII, and there is a place called the Courts which has a Royal covenenant on the green because that is where he stayed while visiting. Other roads are called Boleyn Avenue (after Ann) and "Seymour Avenue (after Jane). It is a little known but very historic part of British history as is Westgate-on-Sea a walk away.
Hey Jack, great video of my home town of 66 years. Glad you liked the Mural on Peter's Fish Factory, I painted that in 2011. :) (Yeah I'm a painter / artist). My studio and gallery are opposite the harbour in York Street. So you know for next time. Ramsgate has numerous art galleries and great indie shops, pubs and Micro Pubs (Try one of those next time?) and cafes. The boat you admired in the harbour is " Havengore" the vessel that carried Sir Winston Churchill down the Thames during his state funeral in 1965. The Maritime Museum is currently being renovated. You're right Ramsgate is rather special. Looking forward to Ramsgate Part Two? ;)
Hi Mike thanks so much for your comment, the mural was incredible, I loved the cat at the bottom ha ha. I will certainly be coming back in the next month so I’ll be sure to have a proper look at the more independent places
I lived in Ramsgate for 30 years before emigrating to Canada in 2011. I love the town, the seafront, the people, and walks along the beach to Broadstairs. From the Westcliff, there is a wonderful walk along the clifftop to Pegwell Bay & the Nature Reserve. And the Ramsgate Tunnels is an unforgettable experience!
The fenced off hall across the road from Churchill’s pub used to be west-cliff Hall the Rolling Stones performed there. Our school HERESON BOYS SCHOOL used to hold their speech days there. Then the hall became the motor museum before the building became unsafe to use. Great video Jack thank you.
Another great video! Ramsgate has a real charm. I love the laid back vibe and it doesn't get a crazy busy as Margate and Broadstairs can in peak season. That clifftop walk is a personal fav. You should do a Rochester video sometime if you haven't already :)
Thanks very much mate, really appreciate it. I was actually in Rochester the other day scoping it out as I plan to do a Christmas video there when the market is up 😄
lived there for the first 20 years of my life. Great memories and I really do remember that fresh sea smell you're talking about! The tunnels are amazing and so are the lovely lovely people at 6th Ramsgate Royal Harbour Sea Scout Group (you walked past their building)
That place with the Busted poster used to be a venue where bands played back in the day, legend has it that the Rolling Stones found out they were being signed when they played there.
Hi Jack. Interesting to see your take on my hometown. Plenty of changes over the years; not all of them good. Some of your Harbour shots appear to include, albeit at a distance, one of the "Little Ships" that occasionally visits Ramsgate - involved in the 1940 Dunkirk Evacuation and I've had the pleasure of being invited aboard. If you would like some footage then please post an email address. I will send the 🎥 immediately. All the best.
Great video of my lovely home town. Born and lived there for 33 years but now live in Broadstairs. The harbour is beautiful I think all of us that love here take it for granted really but the bits you showed of Ramsgate are lovely. Of course if you had shown the town and other parts of Ramsgate you'd have been less impressed.
Hi. You have summed that place up very well. I need to go back. I have been three times now, all on glorious days. It is easy to get to. Only difference is I park up by Westcliff promenade where you walked as there is plenty of parking and the magic word it’s free. I then walk along, those hostel parts are a little sketchy but you are left alone if anyone is just hanging about. I go for a wonder in the town centre, go to the bakery then a walk along the sea front and back then in to Weatherspoons. It’s massive in there. Then on to that pier which as you saw it can be calm but the wind still blows you around so I have to be careful, then around to the marina past the hipster shops and to look at the boats before going past the smack boys place and up those steps which knackers you out before walking back sitting down and just enjoying the view. On a clear day you can see so far or on a low tide it looks great. Quite industrial in parts but Ramsgate has its charms.
Hi there and thanks very much for the comment, it’s always good to hear when someone follows the same sort of route I did. I did go into the town centre too but didn’t end up putting any footage in this video as I didn’t want it to be too long !
The Marina Carpark used to be a fantastic outdoors swimming pool with a 15m diving board. Just a pity our local council couldn't see fit to get it repaired.
Next time you should visit Westcliff it's like going back in time, its stunning, moved here 5 months ago after 11 years in southern france and living on the coast is just amazing, you pretty much covered my daily walk on the beach with my dogs! Come back soon,!
I’m now a local. Moved here and have been here 3 years. You’ve done an impressive walk round Ramsgate. 😅 …. There are many places to visit and there is the old music hall 🎉 should have a mention lol
That fenced off place by the Churchill Tavern used to be a Motor Museum. Brenda Blethyn was canpaining for the building at some point I believe. So many quirky parts to Ramsgate, i love it. Been here all my life. Best pub next to Wetherspoons would be Mariners Bar. I used to work in the Wetherspoons building when it was a casino. Freaky place when its quiet overnight!
Ah thank you very much for that helpful comment, I can definitely imagine the building is spooky at night, especially a place with that much history! 🫨
This is where I live the harbour is lovely and you had a coffee in my friends nephew coffee shack , that weatherspoons gets packed every day it used to be a night club called Peggy Sue’s then a casino
It looks a fantastic place to live! I can really imagine that about the Wetherspoons because it was already getting full up at 11am when I walked past!
The train station is quite a walk to get to the sea front, it's at the back of Ramsgate and is 20 min walk. They have billed a new station just in between Sandwich and Ramsgate called Thanet Parkway, that Wetherspoons has to be one of my favorites.
I forgot to say, did you see Walk With Me Tim video on when he went under ground to stay in the deepest hotel mine, with out seeing no daylight. Have you seen his latest when he stay deep under water. Such amazing experience to do.
Don't agree the beautiful ramsgate i loved when i was little had everything, a large fish & chips restaurant, arcades, array of gift shops on the front, hovercraft excursions to france, model village, small zoo area, fabulous high street, it was wonderful untill late 1990's so much has been lost, x
Good to hear from someone’s perspective what it used to be like, obviously it was my first time so I had nothing to compare it to, but sounds like it used to be even better
Another great video Jack, thanks! Do you use a drone?.... great footage! I love this part of the country..... Broadstairs, Margate, Ramsgate. No where is perfect, but there are many many worse coastal towns in UK! :-)
Thanks for showing us Ramsgate! 👍I know some prefer it to Margate, it's a lot cheaper too! Seems more expansive than Margate, and has not become trendy or hip.., yet! 👍
Grew up in Ramsgate (West Cliff) - how it's changed. The graffiti, the weeds, the general scruffiness - definitely seen better days. Other than Broadstairs, all the East Kent seaside towns are pretty grim.
I've lived in Ramsgate for 2yrs and absolutely love it. Great places for beers are The Queens Head, Mariners, Horse and Groom, The Honeysuckle and The Pub. The wooden box is a really nice coffee up the high street. Highly recommend visiting "This museum is not obsolete" And eating at places like Marc Pierres. It really is a lovely town and I'm lucky to be able to walk my dog down that path by the boating pool every day
A shame you didn't walk further, there Is an ornate walkway winds down to the the West Beach where you carry on walking and it leads back to the harbour. Come back. Go to Bellevue pub, again walking that bit further the view from this pub looks over Pegwell Bay.

Thank you for making the vidio, Ramsgate is beautyful town with very friendly people. Came back and see more. Ursula
Thanks very much I can’t wait to come back
No it isn't. Seafront looks nice but its full of chavs.

So happy to see Ramsgate ❤
It is amazing there 🤩
The Brasserie on the end of the pier has fantastic views across the harbour…thanks for visiting Ramsgate! 🙂
Thanks very much, I’ll have to try the restaurant sometime 😃
Wonderful drone footage and you picked the day with the best weather. Keep it up.
Ahh thanks so much , really did luck out with the weather here 👍😄
The fenced off hall across the road from Churchill’s pub used to be west-cliff Hall the Rolling Stones performed there.
Our school HERESON BOYS SCHOOL used to hold their speech days there. Then the hall became the motor museum before the building became unsafe to use. Great video Jack thank you.
Thanks very much, and that’s really helpful. What a shame the building is unsafe, it looks so grand
I moved to Ramsgate in 1995 by way of Dublin (via London for 20 years) and have never regretted it for a moment.
Love that
Very early in the morning at 10am😅! What time do you wake up? Lol.
Ramsgate is great, the best beach, nice friendly pubs and some gem restaurants.
Ha ha I’m a night owl 🦉 thanks very much

I’m glad the video brought back some memories 😄
That place with the Busted poster used to be a venue where bands played back in the day, legend has it that the Rolling Stones found out they were being signed when they played there.
Thanks, that’s so sad a legendary building in such a good location is in that state 😕
Great video. Loved the sun edge. It definitely was a lovely day.
Thank you Donna!
Loved our visit to Ramsgate. Came across a waterfall!
Love it! Not sure how I missed the waterfall 😄
Beautiful video of my home town 🥰 I absolutely love living here
Thank you, honestly it looks like it would be such a great place to live

My first visit to Ramsgate, loved it, a very hot july in 2013.
I’m glad you liked it as much as me
The Marina Carpark used to be a fantastic outdoors swimming pool with a 15m diving board.
Just a pity our local council couldn't see fit to get it repaired.
That is such a shame! I bet it was amazing
“That’s some serious beaned cuppage” what a quote 🤣
Ha ha trying to make it catch on 😂
Next time you should visit Westcliff it's like going back in time, its stunning, moved here 5 months ago after 11 years in southern france and living on the coast is just amazing, you pretty much covered my daily walk on the beach with my dogs! Come back soon,!
That’s great, I bet walking your dogs every day there would be fantastic, and I envy you living there! Thanks very much
@jackryanmiller if you come back I'd be happy to share a beer !
I’m now a local. Moved here and have been here 3 years. You’ve done an impressive walk round Ramsgate. 😅 …. There are many places to visit and there is the old music hall 🎉 should have a mention lol
Ah lovely, honestly I envy you living there, if I did I would go on a walk every morning down the seafront. Thanks a lot for watching
Excellent video
Thanks so much
Your video is very nice. So I enjoy it very much. Next, you will make a video about a topic? ❤❤❤❤❤
The best boat in the harbor is/was the Sundowner, it was Charles Lightoller's boat in which he joined in Operation Dynamo.
That’s amazing

Oh yes I’ve heard of Thanet Parkway. Sandwich will be next on my list 👍
The closed off place with gardens used be motor museum. Love Ramsgate but Thanet Council doesn't keep it very tidy and clean
Where the arches are that used be old road to the ferry. That's why has keep left in different languages
That makes sense ! Thanks
I forgot to say, did you see Walk With Me Tim video on when he went under ground to stay in the deepest hotel mine, with out seeing no daylight. Have you seen his latest when he stay deep under water. Such amazing experience to do.
I haven’t seen the first one but that sounds terrifying! I saw the underwater one though a few weeks ago it made me feel claustrophobic 😂

Thanks so much James much appreciated, and I totally agree with you. I do indeed use a DJI mini 2 drone 😄
You should have walked on to pegwell village with its two pubs looking over pegwell bay. The views are on a par to italian views. From a pegwellian
Ahh a few people have said about Pegwell , I’ll definitely be checking that out, thanks
And cliffsend and the viking trail and longboat

Thanks a lot, I’m gutted now I didn’t walk that little bit further. Next time though !
You should visit at night, you wouldnt think it is nice. I live here and its a dump. The only good thing to come out out of Thanet is the Thanet way
Ah yeh like quite a few seaside towns I can imagine it’s a different story at night
Have you tried Eastbourne Harbour?
I’ve been Eastbourne before but not the harbour! Will look it up
What did you expect?
