We need more people like Buddy, nice to everyone and loves his job.
And repeatedly says, "Francisco."
This isn't his job or anything. Walter was just taking him to work with him so he could kinda keep an eye on hm. He was worried that if Buddy was left home he'll mess something up. This was Emily's idea.

So what's Walter?
That would make two lists for him: before and after. The first list is before he accepts Buddy as his son and only cares about work and the second list would be once he accepts Buddy as his son and decides to put his boss in his place and seek to find Buddy. I think the before list is arrogant, selfish, and grouchy. The after list is helpful, accepting, understanding, and kindhearted. This is how I see it.

I know it's a movie but why didn't Deborah ask how they took it first. So many jokes could come from his excessive sugar intake but we might not have the "syrup" in coffee moment

Now as for Buddy Deborah probably assumed he wanted coffee and that he liked his plain as well. Buddy may not have known about this at all.

Every time I watch this. It’s a funny movie but it’s pretty sad and it’s also about a father who doesn’t know who is son is. The character just wanted to be loved and recognized by his father.
