Buy yourself a tube of "Dielectric" grease and use a little on all of the spade lug connections. Cheap insurance and will reduce issues with electrolysis and related issues. Interested to know if you compared the current draw of your new headlight in relationship to the original. Glad you solved the issue mate👍.
Exactly what happened to my 2018 300 TPI 6 months ago. I wish I found this video earlier. Thanks for sharing, and hopefully others find this before pulling everything apart. Cheers.
@@keithjob hey Keith I have a 2012 ktm 500 exc f I went for a ride yesterday and upon leaving my lights where working fine. On my way home it was dark and all light where working, i was 20 minutes from home and noticed my head light / park light stopped working? My indicators still work my horn works and my brake light lights up when I brake but apart from that I have no lights at all. So far I checked all fuses under the seat and none where blown it was quite dark so haven’t checked all wiring but for a 2012 model the bike is in excellent condition wiring and lights are all stock any suggestions what it could be Keith??
great video, I cant find my relay on the internet only from ktm, plenty of very similar ones but none with m37 in the number. mine is acm33221 m37 lots around but have m37, do you know what m37 refers too, and what other one can I use. my lights dont work many Thanks
Same location here. I'm using an electrical cleaning solution and then applying fresh electrical lubricant inside all the relays. Inspecting zip ties and rubbing areas on all looms. I'm glad this is only a bike, phew!
my 23 500 turn signals stopped working after I used a similar charger. Fuel pump would prime when charger was attached. Relays got noticeably warm too. I have been checking every connection and can't find any other issues, other lights work fine. Seems I need to try a new relay...
Mate, thus was good info.... i spent a day trying to find out why my brake light and flasher not working.... turns out both the foot brake switch AND flasher gone kaput at the same time.... who would have thought...
Great vid mate .. i was wondering if you could point me in the right direction. i have a 2014 KTM 390 Duke . the problem is ,when riding ,even at different speeds, the egine cuts out for a split second and comes back on very quickly . ECU light comes on at the same time ,then goes out . any thoughts. cheers mate.
Obviously electrical, but where is the question! Could be a hundred things. Does EVERYTHING go out, all lights, displays? If so maybe a battery connection or relay or dodgy main fuse. If only the engine dies, then it could be the sidestand switch or another dodgy fuse. I'd check those first as they are all simple things. After that...... well, it gets tricky! Good luck.
@@keithjob ive just ridden my 500 for the first rime since new. ive got 13/50 on and its revving hard at 100kmh. i dont do a lot of road riding on it and found first gear way to low on dirt so could go to 14/48 easy. any idea what yours is revving at 100 kmh?
@@keithjob my gearing is 13/50 and the sweet spot is 80 kmh. more and it’s reving a bit to high. i’ve only just started to ride it, love it so far. wouldn’t want to ride too far on seal.
all my lights work aside the bloody rear running light, brakes fine, headlight fine, PITA happened at random, i cannot see it being a relay at this point which leaves one option - cannot believe i have to replace the rear light system but it seems to be the only way, any ideas before i buy at 75 GBP?
You need to troubleshoot your way through the wiring & connections to the rear. KTM owners need to be good at this...ask me how know! Getting the wiring diagram sure helps.
@@TacomaImports no mate, I've resorted to carrying a light I attach to my bag at night 😂 brake light is fine, volts once brake is pressed are about 14 and when not pressed it's about 12 so I think something in the running light led circuit isn't correct I've decided as it is winter soon that I am buying a new light for 2 pound from Ali express to see if it works, if so I may get the oem version but I'm not buying the ktm light for 85 pounds just to find out it wasn't the unit
yea, all the connections get dirty and corroded over time. I had my started fail, as in it would not work, as I checked the bike over I found the ground near the battery had corroded, the aluminum sub frame connection.
Its a good idea to run an additional ground wire from the (-) on the battery up to the ground point at the front of the frame. This provides a parallel ground path to that troublesome sub-frame connection.
Are you sure your bike is a 2019? Because my 2018 has the relays located just like yours, but I’ve seen multiple 2019s that had them on top by the battery.
Hey keith great video as always. I’ve also had this issue with the fuel pump priming itself and the the dash would light up when parked in the shed was the same rely they get full of crud

Great advice but we all know how boring of an ordeal is to actually apply that.

great video Keith!! i have a 2020, and the relay's are on top, and mine are on an downward angle so water wont stay in the connectors...

Those relays are also sensitive to cteck chargers. The pulse would also send current into the fuel pump and prime when parked.

Any other suggestions if the fuse and relay is good. My relay is working but still no lights
Thank you Sir.. Watching from the Philippines!
2015 FE 501. Headlight suddenly doesn't work. All other lights, horn, engine unaffected. Think it's the same relay? I can't find it.
Might not be that relay, if the other lights are working. Could be something simple, like the headlight fuse, or globe.
Anyone got a video on how to replace the part the relay plugs into?
keith nothing too with relay.
what sprocket sizes do you run.
Currently 14/48
