I recently discovered your channel and have been working my way through all your back episodes. You are just what I need to help me through winter in snowy, cold Vermont, USA. We are of a similar age. I also have three grown children, a daughter and two sons. I’m also very interested in craft, though you have much more of the artist in you, I think. We seem to have similar taste is reading, too. Isn’t it funny, this internet thing, showing us kindred spirits a continent away? Thank you so much for your videos. They are bringing me much joy and inspiration.
you describe very well how I feel about the connections I am able to make bessie I turn the camera on when I am doing what I would be doing anyway and chat with you guys - it is completely wonderful - this community we are creating nurtures us all! xxxx Thank you
I love watching your videos, so soothing to me especially after my husbands passing. You are so inspiring and it’s all helping me get my sew mojo back. Thank you so much.
So glad to here about your plans for the garden and also happy to hear Clara and Ilene are up to their usual pranks. All seems well in The Shire! The quilt colors are lovely. I love the brightness of them. Ahhh Norma. She loves her mom. My little beagle can be a bit of a glomer also. But I just stop a minute... give her a smooch and a scratch and both our worlds are better off for it. Lovely chat.... thank you for sharing!
Thank you for your calming influence while quilting.Oh, I love your cats and how they would love to help you. They always put a smile on my face with their calming antics.😊
Hi Kate. It's like I have a new friend. I am a South African, married to an Englishman, living temp in Philipphines. I spend a lot of time on my own. I love crafting. Some days I can feel unmotivated. Then I found you. Now there is nothing nicer than a visit from you. I also have a cat (so wanted to send you pic of him lying next to my laptop, with your face on it, on my quilt I am busy hand quilting) but feel so much less lonely with you chatting away. Thank you so very much
GOOD!!! this make me very happy indeed - and there is space on the virtual sofa for you - just nudge the person next to you if they are hogging the biscuits! I spend a lot of time on ,my own through choice - but it was not always so - and I think I understand your lack of motivation from the times when I felt that way. You are welcome here ANY time! every day is a new day to start something wonderful! xxx come back often! xxxxx
I love Martha, it makes me warm and fuzzy inside and brings a big smile to me when I see her nuzzling up to you. I used to have two cats and had a similar relationship with them both, then a had a life changing experience, was given a bone marrow transplant and after became very allergic to cats. We were able to keep ours but since they passed I became acutely reactive. So seeing Martha with you I can get a real feeling of happiness of being with 'your' cat. Thank you Liz
Kate I was watching this video while I was sewing today. Of course I ended up totally distracted by Norma❤️...as always. As a bit of fun...have you ever considered doing a video where Norma gets to choose fabrics? You could cut a bunch of (for eg) charm squares and lay them out and then put together combinations under Norma's discerning eye!! Ie..what she sits on/touches etc! Maybe you could then run a competition/fund-raiser for the finished 'Norma's quilt' and donate the proceeds to a cat charity. It would make a smashingly fun video, a great project and a superb written story. Norma has her own fan base out here on the lime green couch, of course we love you both... just thought it was a fun idea. Let's face it..she's totally INvolved in the sewing process already😆. Lots of love from Aus ❤️❤️
I love you and your kitty? You’re wonderful to teach me and you are right inside from your table- you are great with us inside of your camera video!❤️😂And I learned and enjoyed what you do- I love Norma and she wants to be close to you! Thank you for being with us “you tube” people! And you make us a great friend! 💕🥰💕
I've missed your videos and look forward to each one. I found your channel last year and started at the first one binge watching. I almost caught up just before Christmas and finally did right after. I'm a self taught quilter and I have been sewing since my mama taught me as early as 4 years old. Hand sewing for a few years and at 7 allowed to learn my aunts treadle machine. It very intriguing to watch someone else quilt since we all do it differently. I love to hand quilt but I do quilt on my home machine. It's not easy but I have done it. Thanks for sharing your life with us. Many blessings
Hello from California, USA! How fun that I found your post just after laying out tiny leftovers from a larger quilt project, to become a flying geese dolly quilt for my granddaughters. Church in the a.m., then high tea with my daughter, then Kate at the Last Homely House...a perfect day. Have a lovely week.
You were asking how your friends on the lime green sofa found you. I was searching pojagi and you were one of the TH-cam crafters who were shown as suggestions and once I got to your video I was instantly hooked on your style of sharing your lovely life and all the crafts you pursue. I quilt, garden, knit and do pulled thread linens (I love the looks of Victorian embroidery) and so I can relate to your having many projects going. I am learning so much from you, not only on quilting which but also on how to live life. I was watching you unfold your mom's gorgeous quilts and hope that my daughter will share all the quilts I have made with some special people, although, I am starting to give some of them to people who have made a difference in my life before I die. I am 82 and know I don't have a full lifetime ahead of me, and that is alright with me as long as I can keep on quilting and knitting untll the end.
Kate, thank you - you have inspired me!! I have a quilt kit in my sewing room, I purchased last year to make with my 9 yo granddaughter. It is all Kaffe-Faccet fabrics and a simple pattern. I have watched you make that quilt around the world quilt - stunning. I have decided, we can't go wrong, however it turns out!! The fabric is all just vibrant. I am now going to prep the quilt soon, so we can work on it next time I see her. She lives 4 hours from me. I need to prep as I have decided we will sew first before I get out the rotary cutter hence my need to prep. you are just a delight to listen to even when I may not be watching caretully THank you!
I'm with you on the subject of precuts, Sheri! Everything that you said plus I like to choose every piece of fabric and not be stuck with some pieces that I would not have chosen. For those who love precuts, enjoy your process your way, we all love this art form and do it in a way that works for us. Happy 2024 everyone and keep on doing what you love...however you love doing it! ❤️
I love your videos and "our" Norma. I have 3 cats now down from 8. Most found outside over the years. Several looked just like Norma. They eventually "crossed the bridge". Your calmness gives me much peace. Love your quilts. I must get back to my sewing.
You are a delight to watch, you are so natural and just yourself. I love your cats, we lost our tabby a while ago and I miss having a cat helping me with my crafting.
Aww, Kate....you are so loved by Norma. It just makes us all smile! I lost both my old dogs last year (haven't found the right rescue quite yet) and I was "the person" for one of them. Makes life very full! The fabrics look beautiful!!
as you know - I have four cats - but do you ever see the others? no - Norma is The One! xxx you'll find the right dog - ORRR the right dog will find you! xxx
Kate, I recently found your channel and absolutely love you! You are so sweet and your voice is so soothing. I am just learning how to quilt and watching you helps me. I also share your love of Kaffe Fassett. I enjoy watching you and your daughter in law …..how lucky she is to have you show her all you know. You are so talented. Gigi
Hi Kate congratulations on five years on TH-cam. I have loved all your videos. Currently I am working on getting items made for our Holly and Ivy Christmas Bizarre. So I've been quilting table runners, sewing key phobs, making rope bowls, and crocheting scarves hats and mittens. And while I'm enjoying the party on the lime green sofa I'm working on a cross stitch sampler. Congrats again on five years. I look forward to many more. 🥂🎂🎈🎊🎉
Thank you Kate, the colours in this one are super pretty! I just finished re-watching a couple of your scrappy quilt videos ... I'm rethinking a project. Happy winter Kate, I hope it's not as stormy there as it has been here in North America, we've just finished digging out and the muscles are ACHING! Bless Norma! I love how she stares at the camera and totally photo bombs the show. What a cat! xoxo
she totally owned that video didn't she! ha ha! I hope the snow isn't too bad - I do moan a lot about the weather - but it is nothing compared to what you are getting! stay warm xxx
Its good to see you here on TH-cam, thank you for sharing, I'am glad to see Norma again ❤. Beautiful fabric your working with. Greatings from the Netherlands as always 💟😻🏡🙋♀️
I enjoyed the chat w/ you and Norma. As well as watching how you piece the quilt.I .just can't fathom the math involved and the color choices. It just amazes me. Thank you for sharing your time with us. Have a Blessed day.
Yes, I remember football (soccer) . Grew up in Scotland on the Bonnie banks, in a village called Tarbet. No TV games back then so dad and brother went to all the games in Glasgow. The “girls” stayed home, sewing, knitting and crochet, bobbin lace, tatting, and making quilts from scraps and whatever we could lay our hands on. SWRI, Scottish women’s rural institute. So, your series brings back a lot of memories. Love it !!
98 4 1/2 inch HSTs to sew together - check. Sew until the bobbin runs out or Kate is finished chatting - check. The thread ran out at the end of a row of blocks (not the middle!) AND Kate finished chatting - serendipity. I love my SOUP mailing! Very inspiring for the dead of winter. Thank you all. The shop? Make what makes you happy!
Hi Kate. I just love seeing you do any kind of sewing. Even if it's not a tutorial we can still learn. At least that's the case with me. I love to learn just by watching. Those baby quilts are gorgeous. Completely my favorite colours. The new one you are working in is going to be another piece of art from you hands. I love to see what you do with colours because sometimes I tell you in my head to go for a certain colour and you choose another. Most of the time it's like, "oh great, that one I wasn't expecting to look so great together." and that's teaching me to try more options when I do some English paper piercing or any other kind of projects with fabric or even yarn. Have fun with your livestream because I'm a 1$ patereon for now so I can't be there. Dear Norma. Give her a little cuddle from me. 💕💕💕💕xxxxx
I look forward to 'our' chats! You're such a lovely person, it really is like spending time with a heart warming, nurturing friend. Thank you from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 😁
Another FG quilt, wonderful. Since you made the Easter FG quilt I wanted to make one, I finally made one, I love it too. I finished the top yesterday and may even make another one.
Hi Kate Norma is so funny. She got mad you was not giving her all your attention so she gave you attitude. I was thinking the pottery when you asked what we like to see. Then you right away said no. I felt like Norma. Glad to see you quilting. That is what I do is quilt. That is what drawn me to your channel and I have not left our virtual couch since. Xoxo
Oh my goodness. Kate and Anna, you mentioned wheat in this video. I have suffered many years with this to the point I ended up in hospital for a weekend, which was a total waste of time because no doctors worked weekends then. I spent the whole weekend with my tummy so hard and extended that the pain was awful. Left the hospital with no answers. My daughter got me to write down what I ate and how I felt a couple of hours after. It turned out to be wheat. My eldest granddaughter was about 4 and was so concerned about me if I ate anything I shouldn't. Then 5 years on her growth was very slow, and she was putting weight on that relate to how much she ate. So my daughter did the same of writing down what she ate and how she felt after. She also researched reasons for growth problems. It was all down to wheat intolerance. So her diet was changed and she has started growing again. She is very sporty and often gets player of the match now her energy levels are not dampened by the wheat. So yes, what Anna said about needing a sleep after a croissant is so true. More doctors should learn more about this because I know for myself that they don't know enough.
Hi Kate. I permanently gave up gluten and dairy a couple of years ago and I have never felt so well in my life. I can think clearer, have more energy and the digestive system now works well - an added bonus!! Have a good day. Gilly x
Love you so much Kate and revisiting this video…with Norma, a mention of your Dad, and before the pandemic. Whew, what a difference a couple of years can make. So grateful for your channel….especially these last few years.
I love your creative channel. So inspiring. I'm thinking of resurrecting a double Irish chain quilt top from my stash. Started over 10 years ago! Thanks so much for reigniting my restless hands.
Enjoyed your visit today. You're extremely patient with Norma. Too bad she can't learn to pin. I am a quilter too, and love to hear you talk through your process. Your crib quilts were darling. Wish I could have held one. They looked soft. Until next time...
I just discovered you today, Kate. You have a sweet voice, clear and easy instructions, and a charming sewing space. I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos. I enjoyed this one so much that I became a patron. Thank you for the good work you do.
Oh Kate, love your spirit! Enjoying everything I ordered from you in December and decided to read one booklet each day, starting with Norma, then Sadie so I could get my "cat fix." YES, you are a very good writer so am pleased to know you have more writing in the works. The BEES booklet is today's read. Looking forward to this latest Kaffe Fassett quilt you are working on in today's video. Hugs to all the cats. Margene
Well Kate. It was so exciting to see the quilt coming together. I LOVE how bright it’s going to be. It’s going to work so well in the room it’s going into.
I know I said you would see it first - but I am working on it right now (enjoying it) and I wanted to do the Sunday Chat - so I'm afraid you are going to have teasers until it is done! happy that you like it so far! xxx hope that is ok xxxxx Kate
Love the Sunday chats and was so happy to see the flying geese. I had made all mine before my move last year so it's encouraged me to get them out this week and start sewing them all together. Hopefully before I dig into the "trip around the world quilt".
Norma would be completely lost without you. Just wanted to say you are very inspiring to a newly retired 62 yr old who now has loads of time to fill up. Just have to figure out how I want to do it🙂
Kate, buy the Clearly Perfect Angles by New Leaf Stitches, it is put onto your sewing machine bed and you follow the lines, no more need to draw lines on the material. This makes sewing much quicker and of course more enjoyable. Watch a TH-cam video on how to use this not just for half square triangles. I am enjoying your videos, always interesting and it seems that Norma has finally worked out that if you set up that camera she is going to hear you talking. Cheers from Port Augusta, South Australia where thankfully we haven't had any bush fires so far this year near here.
OHH, those delicious Fabrics! I belong to a quilting group at my church. We sew quilts for missions. Nothing very fancy. Once in a while I get the urge to sew up something different than 9" squares, and this flying geese pattern might fill that bill! Loved when Norma was sitting on the table staring into the camera. A "sitting Norma", maybe you can find fabrics that match her coloring and put them together to sell in the shop. Cant wait tll spring when there is pottery in the shop.
I love these Sunday afternoon chats Kate. I too have cats around me, but they are my neighbours 😀 They often visit. We all love to see Norma. I’m listening to you as I knit my shawl. It’s very similar to the one you have draped over your wicker chair. The colours of your KF quilt are beautiful. Good therapy for this time of year 🌸☘️🌺
Good Afternoon Kate and Your beautiful baby by your side. I love seeing all your kitties. I love seeing and hearing your chats I do enjoy everything you talk about. Your quilting is so beautiful too, nice teacher. Enjoy your day. ❤️🧵😃😻
So enjoy your chats and of course sweet Norma. She reminds me of my cats. Very loving and wants to be near you. Love those Kaffe Fassett fabrics. Soon I hope to order some more and make a quilt. They're so bright and cheerful. Stay well. The flu has been rampant here in the states and I've been sick since the 3 Rd with it. I even got the flu shot for this year or I think it would have been worse. I'll begin work next month on a couple of quilts for my two youngest grandsons. This week I'm going to make two baby blankets for a new great granddaughter due next month
What a treat, a Kate chat. I love your holding out the golden milk. I have this daily, turmeric, pepper (I'm told this makes it more accessible to the body), bit of honey or maple syrup, whole milk, since dairy is my friend. It's calming, great for peaceful sleep with manageable dreams. I recommend it.
Love the baby quilts, wish I could afford to buy one. Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt product. Thanks for sharing part of your Sunday with us. 👍❤️😊
This was a lovely chat. I pinned a table runner to get it ready to quilt while you prepared your flying geese blocks. I also like to write, make journals, garden, and quilt, so these chats are interesting to me.
Norma’s reaction when you reached past her to pick up the fabric...it was like she thought “Oh..you mean it isn’t all about me then?” ❤️. She is such a beautiful affectionate cat! I love seeing you interact with each other. And I thought “Norma” as soon you asked what would you like in the shop.. (sadly it would never work for me anyway as I’m allergic to cats 😕)
I am not a cat person but your Norma is just so sweet !! Love Kaffe Fassett fabrics- I did a lap quit with some greys . You are a very nice soul and you enjoy life so sweetly!!
Beautiful what you made, oh i going to see the film Cats next sat 25Jan looking forward to that, yes many have run the film down but i take no notice, i going and two i i going to watch it in our old time looking place we watch films they brought it back with the seats that flick back when you stand its in St Leonards norman road a lovely place in there to eat its all lovely, i am living in Hastings so its not far to go. I let you know what the film was like. love sent to you and your cats great video as always.
Thanks, Kate. You timed it perfectly for me. I was making a beef stew and kept thinking something was missing. Of course, the spuds!! So peeled those for a separate pot while I enjoyed your chat. No pastry or dough by's as the cast iron pot is full to the brim. Haha.
Hi Kate loved your chat tonight, really good for a cosy night in. Thank you for my lavender bag, it is gorgeous to look at and smalls divine. Big hugs and loves xxxxxxxx Dorothy 🙋🏻❤️😘🌟
The cat loves you so much. It wants your touch, to be very close yo you showing you are also a very loving person too. I enjoyed what i watched, thank you.
Really enjoyed today’s chat! Coincidentally, I am using the same flying geese method on a quilt I’m working on. It’s a great method and I find that my blocks are a bit more accurate-emphasis on “bit more.” 😉 Happy quilting!
Oh Kate, I'm here because I enjoy listening to your chats, watching your creativity and generally learning about your life. It doesn't translate to a cash value. Believe me if I could afford to be a patreon I would.
never you worry about that - I love having you here on this channel - the other place allows me to create content full time now - and make for the shop - I love my life - but it wouldn't be the same without the virtual sofa with all my TH-cam friends on it! pass the biscuits! xxx

I recently found your channel and now I almost crave these Sunday chats. I feel like I’ve discovered “home”
Norma looked so content to just sit and listen to you chat with us. 😁 I enjoyed it too. Blessings, Kate. 💗
Thanks for reviving my interest in sewing. Haven't made a stitch in thirty-two years but now I'm excited to be "working" on a Trip Around the World.

there is a 'speed up ' button in the editing software - but sadly not in my life! xxx ha ha ha!

AND Kate finished chatting - serendipity. I love my SOUP mailing! Very inspiring for the dead of winter. Thank you all. The shop? Make what makes you happy!
oh - happy days - soup recipe coming tomorrow here! xxx thank you xxx
💕💕💕💕xxxxx
I had an idea that people would be calling out 'YEESSS ' and NOOOO" at the screen with my colour choices! ha ha - it's good to experiment! xxx
Hi Kate
Norma is so funny.
Xoxo
no - that was not a big 'no' rather a 'not yet' my pottery studio is so cold! so - sometime in the spring! xxx
I always enjoy your chats! love Norma so much, she's beautiful. XXX
So much care goes into your creations. What a lovely cat mother you are, but of course Norma rules the roost.
Not putting Norma in the shop 😂 love it ❤
Enjoyed your visit today.
Oh she’s just looking into the camera ! Man she is so smart ! Very beautiful colors ! What a lovely gal !
Margene
Love listening to you chat. You are so calming for me. 😸
The Last Homely House East of the Sea really don’t mind seeing the teasers or the quilt having a bit of Norma in it 😁
Love the Sunday chats and was so happy to see the flying geese. I had made all mine before my move last year so it's encouraged me to get them out this week and start sewing them all together. Hopefully before I dig into the "trip around the world quilt".
ahhh - a woman after my own heart - many projects on the go at once! MUCH more interesting! xxx
Norma would be completely lost without you. Just wanted to say you are very inspiring to a newly retired 62 yr old who now has loads of time to fill up. Just have to figure out how I want to do it🙂
relax with that and see what comes to fill your hands and your days xxxx Norma - I would be completely lost without her! xxxxx
Lovely chat Katie, I always wait to lay in bed and relax watching your videos, thank you
Kate, buy the Clearly Perfect Angles by New Leaf Stitches, it is put onto your sewing machine bed and you follow the lines, no more need to draw lines on the material.
Lovely to see you again Kate😀
Love watching you make your quilt, with Norma helping:)
Can’t wait to see the progress.
KimX
I love these Sunday afternoon chats Kate. I too have cats around me, but they are my neighbours 😀 They often visit. We all love to see Norma. I’m listening to you as I knit my shawl. It’s very similar to the one you have draped over your wicker chair. The colours of your KF quilt are beautiful. Good therapy for this time of year 🌸☘️🌺
I love your helper. I love Flying Goose. Your the turmeric and all that sound awesome. January is a good month to do new beginning. 🎉
I would love to see your journals. You are so gifted when it comes to crafting. I hesitate to call it crafting because you are so good .
This week I'm going to make two baby blankets for a new great granddaughter due next month
flu is just awful - take time to get well - sounds like you have plenty to keep you busy! xxx
I recommend it.
yes - you're right about pepper - I wonder how it would taste in my 'tea'? xxx
Total pleasure spending time with you!
Your Norma is looking very regal as she sits on your work table supervising your every move… cats!!!! love ‘em!
Am with you, love my 3 cats, people always asking why I have 3 cats, and I tell them I enjoy their company. And they love back.😊
Love the baby quilts, wish I could afford to buy one.
😘
Love watching yr videos, no stress for me, just sew relaxing! I just keep watching all the time, love learning little snippets from you.
I am not a cat person but your Norma is just so sweet !! Love Kaffe Fassett fabrics- I did a lap quit with some greys . You are a very nice soul and you enjoy life so sweetly!!

Thanks, Kate. You timed it perfectly for me. I was making a beef stew and kept thinking something was missing. Of course, the spuds!! So peeled those for a separate pot while I enjoyed your chat. No pastry or dough by's as the cast iron pot is full to the brim. Haha.
I so enjoyed your cat and it's persistence. Have a lovely day.
Just so relaxed to learn more. Love the kitties working along in your swell shop. Have fun..
Amen about the kitty ! So very very sweet !!

The chicks ate your lovely greens but oh what lovely eggs your must have had in return. Nature is so generous.
Oh my. The baby quilts are gorgeous!! Love those new tables. Looks like a great set-up.
Love making quilt tops and I just hate quilting it! Enjoyed this video! The fabric you're working with is gorgeous! Have a blessed week!
I have just found you, and you are a treasure! You love all of the same things that I love! Thank you for sharing!
Enjoying your chat while I put together the Quiltville mystery "frolic" A beautiful reveal. Now to get to all together!
I do like watching those Quiltville mysteries coming together! good luck with yours xxx
Norma's a trip. She makes me laugh. She loves you so much.
I enjoy watching you so much. I Loved it when you took a walk and showed the Beautiful landscape around you. How gorgeous
Believe me if I could afford to be a patreon I would.
never you worry about that - I love having you here on this channel - the other place allows me to create content full time now - and make for the shop - I love my life - but it wouldn't be the same without the virtual sofa with all my TH-cam friends on it! pass the biscuits! xxx
I Love watching you make new quilts Thank You for sharing all your interesting videos you always make my day 💓💓💓
Me too
