I've had my whacker for 6 years and that Stihl is still going strong the only maintenance I have done is cleaning the exhaust filter a lil carburator cleaner to gas mix every new season and it fires up.
FS 38. The hardest starter spring rewind back into the deep recessed housing i have ever done!!. took 3 goes but got it done and its a good GP trimmer with good size engine and durability. Also have the old FS36 and its solid worker. Still have a old FS51 AVE, but it has little compression and suction to just suck fuel anymore and piston to bore to gappy now and pity as liked it.
Thanks, your explanation is cristal clear. I live in Belgium and I have a FS45 for about 25 years. It runs perfect even though I had to replace the head 2 or 3 times. I now use an aftermarket auto head and it's just great to use this machine. It's superlight and the engine strong enough to do more than you can think of.
I just recently purchased the fs40. I very much like the machine but must say c6-2 string head is crap. I m very disappointed in its performance , rather it's non performance. So now what do i do ?
true .... i have dolmar subaru motor , i have alco ms . i have honda. all of them cut . i bought fs 50 . it roars and cuts nothing. is crap all product
Great video, I have an old FS44, actually it’s like new. Barely used by the original owner… I currently run a 111 trimmer and br 600 for my needs. Both units are awesome, every once in a while I pull out the 45 and run the old timer… still looks new btw…
Thank you so much for explaining that to me I was wondering what the difference is and yes sir I will pay the extra money to get the one made in USA and has all the extra feet
I have the fs38, I like it better than the craftsman or echos I've had. Is the 40 as picky in starting method as the 38 or do all Stihls have to be started the same? I labeleled the on spot on mine so in remember come the next season. Going to try out the Speed feed head next time I use my eeed eater.
Wish I saw this before I bought the FS38. Dealer I bought it from still can't fix it. Runs great for 15 to 20 minutes and then starts bogging on throttle up. Gets so bad it becomes unusable.
Funny that. Made in China has always been a huge turn off for me! I looked at a fs40 yesterday here in Spain. The fact it is an easier start means my wife can use it aswell. Many thanks for the video
Luv my 2018 FS 38. Zero problems guys. Awesome trimmer!😊

Thank you for your pictorial on respolling the line trimmer for the FS 38 it worked like a charm...👍
Yeah buddy!!
The FS38 now comes with the newer head. I prefer the manual choke but really it was price that pushed me towards the 38.
Bought one today, can confirm.
Very good explaining. Thanks. Love my fs 40. Running Amazing
What are the exact weight on each of these? I use black and decker 20 volt but I am looking to get one of these that you reviewed. Thanks!
Any complaints on the speed head not feeding out the line? I've read many reviews that say it jams up. Thank you

Is the fs 38 and fs55 do they carry the exact same engine
Thank you so much for explaining that to me I was wondering what the difference is and yes sir I will pay the extra money to get the one made in USA and has all the extra feet
What is the weight on these two models?? Thanks
Nice job! Great point on the made in the USA!
Me personally that is one good reason to spend the extra money

Skip the speed feed it will mess up your shaft. The Stihl version works well.
The 40 starts easier, fewer steps
This is all i needed to know thanks !!! 05:01 💪 😉🗽

My fs40 has a different head. ???
Great video thanks for sharing

We agree
So the European market fs40s still made in the USA?
Great video comparison, I've sold hundreds of FS38's not so many 40C's
That’s a lot how long have you been selling Stihl? And are you add an ace hardware
@@Carlsmower I've been selling Stihl since 2014 for Delta Power equipment in Essex Ontario Canada , we sell roughly 40 a year.
That’ll get you there.
@@molsonman100 so is the fs38 better than the fs40? Or you sell more because of the price differences?
@@josegalindo1262 FS40 is Far better, doesnt Flood, more power, made in america not china
If you can buy both at 200 UK pounds which one would you choose I'm 5.7 in height
Buy a goat.
Best Whacker out there.
For an extra $30 the fs40 seems like a better move
I just beat a fs 38 off a brick wall would not start replaced the carburetor still would not start it had Ignition/spark and was getting fuel
OE Carb? Or Chinese Amazon one? Flooded?
Take it off choke, hold the throttle wide open and pull the trigger 25 times, let me know what happens.
Spend the extra!
I like to tinker with mowers mmhmm
I & O is binary, true/false, on/off, high/low
Both of those heads are manual heads 😂
Aren’t some of the cheaper chainsaws made in china now ?
Not that are sold in the USA, maybe elsewhere. Two Chinese products HS45 and FS38
@@Carlsmower oh ok, I just purchased a MS180 and I thought it said China but I could be wrong. Great little saw no matter where it’s made.
It’s 1 and 0 binary, on and off
That’s right. But unfortunately not everyone speaks binary. I line the in / out. 😉
Fs38 looks like a glorified Bowens 110 turd.
Sthil should have no china products
Or don't make the thing at all
You should get real.... 🖕🏻🖕🏼🖕🖕🏽🖕🏾🖕🏿
Basicly chinise made stihl is for outside EU market, in europe i newer saw a chinise stihl.
Dude cuts his hair with a STIHL String Trimmer.... 👎🏻👎🏼👎👎🏽👎🏾👎🏿
