It's interesting you struggled with the rulebook because this clicked for me right away after only one read and I am someone who frequently feels the need to watch gameplay videos before attempting to play. In comparison to the Garphill games for example this was much easier to digest. Similar to Garphill, I like that they carry over iconography between games. From a solo perspective, this is my favorite Valeria game so far.

I have not played Garphill but I might check it out.
It has been awhile, but if I remember correctly I believe I think this is one of the games I tried to just read the rulebook before setting the game up. Usually when I read a rulebook I play a mock round or two in order to make sure everything clicks. But I agree the game is very easy to understand, once it clicks it clicks.
