Hello Everyone! In this video I show you how to setup and play the game Skyrise. Skyrise is a 2 to 4 player game where you play the role of an architect hired by the mayor of a floating city. You play out buildings in different sectors while garnering favor from the districts and patrons alike.
The main idea behind skyrise is placing buildings on the board. Each building has a number on it signifying the bid you are placing, and they range in numbers overall. There are small, medium, and tall buildings. The game is played over 2 eras, with scoring in between them, and the person with the most points wins.
When playing out a bid, you cannot replace a previous bid in any capacity. Likewise, you MUST place the subsequent bids in an adjacent area for to where the previous bid was placed. You may pass at any time, but that removes you from the bidding for that turn. Once you win the bid, you place the building number side down and take the disc that is on that area.
The strategy comes in from where you want to end up overall. The buildings stay on the board, and if there is no legal adjacent open area then no other bids can be placed. This can lead to some very dangerous situations where the person starting the bidding can easily get put into a corner and the other player can lay 2 quick buildings.
The discs can do a variety of things. The 4 colors go on your board and affect the value of the sections for the player. There is a wild color that can be any chosen color. There is a plus one commission disc that adds value to every disc you have on your player board. And there are Patron discs that are just worth points at the end.
Scoring comes in the forms of the discs and the sectors values where you have buildings placed, the value of the Patron discs, any commission discs you have, Era bonus cards, the wonder cards you play out, and the secret objective cards you get dealt. So overall, there are plenty of spaces for point opportunities.
Thank you all for watching, and I hope you enjoy the video! Let us know if there are any questions about the game. Cheers!

Happy the video helped! We really enjoy the game, and setup itself isn't that difficult. It's the planning ahead to figure out how to end where you REALLY want to that we love. For some reason, bidding games have been hitting a stride with us lately as we enjoy this one and Furnace a ton! What's your favorite part of the game?

@@WhoseTurn Haven't tried it yet but auction and area control usually equal high strategic tension just by themselves. This game has both in one so it is almost guaranteed to shine for us. We. Shall. See.
