Genshin is really more about the characters than anything and since the game is so casual-focused, they sell the characters based off aesthetics and personality rather than power. Most players don't care about Genshin's meta and the meta is pretty irrelevant when all content in the game is so easy, as you said. The big problem with this approach is when they start releasing characters that don't interest you, the game has nothing else going for it. The main plot spins its wheels and goes nowhere. It's all about spending time with the characters with lengthy cutscenes. Sumeru feels rather meh to me because nearly all its characters are meh. Seems to me that core demographic for Genshin are people who like slice of life type anime. They just wanna pretend to be friends with the characters and form imaginary bonds with them. As someone who doesn't care for slice of life anime, I find this incredibly boring most of the time. ToF takes the opposite approach. It barely focuses on the characters at all. Most ToF characters are pretty forgettable. You'll likely completely forget them whenever you do stop playing the game. The majority of players even prefer using their custom character instead.
It's unbelievably sad that even though half a year has passed, all your points still remain 100% true and they'll likely remain true forever within this game. They truly don't give a shit about making engaging content or retaining the end-game playerbase. The combat system is so developed and is basically the reason any youtuber makes money off of this game, but they do absolutely nothing with it. Instead of spending time developing another dog-ass mini game that they want players to play for 1-2 weeks and then never again, imagine if they put those resources into developing end-game content. I dumped a lot of time into this game and my account is about the same as yours progression wise. Happy I quit and decided to focus on other areas of life. Sometimes I catch myself fantasizing about a new character and building them, but then it's just like "why?..." to clear abyss in a different way than I already do?.. for what?.. Anyways... It's refreshing to hear someone talk critically about the game, a portion of the community can't even handle talking in-depth about the game's glaring issues and just glance over it by remaining casual and talking about cosplay/art/w/e else. I'm cringing at the thought of whaling in this game as well. I can't imagine some of these players who start the game, get attached to the art and characters, and then proceed to whale. Only later do people find out that the game is going literally NOWHERE end-game or progression wise.
Honesty it's pretty unfortunate to hear my points still stand I've even heard the past couple of character releases have been pretty bad as well. Quite unfortunate that said this track record has me far more skeptical for any other games hoyoverse creates in the future.
Congrats I quit too. The game is so boring now with repeat after repeat. Mihoyo only cares about money and making more pvs or other promotions to attract new players without delivering anything new to the game itself. For me the game feels a lot worse than 2 years ago. On the contrary ToF looks like a bit mid and not better than genshin in its first release 1.0 or this 1.5 era now global. But after 2.0-2.1-2.2 now in China it keeps improving miraculously. I first got into ToF in 2.1 cn server 3 month ago. I soon quit genshin afterwards. The developer of ToF just delivers and knows how to make the game better and more interesting with more contents. I just regretted that I didn't quit genshin earlier and starting to play tof earlier.
didn't sumeru update make things enjoyable? . since it's a very big update I thought they will be a lot of things to do. I don't play genshin btw, just curious.
I'm still playing but i accepted the fact it's going to remain a side game. I don't blame you i think at some point i'll end up quitting for good as i don't like the gacha system at all. I can't see myself playing other gacha games if this is the norm. I think I'm going back to play my backlog more often now.
Lets hope ToF learns from this critics to Genshin, i agree with 90% of your critics, and where those wich also made me quit about a year ago. So far tof its doing right all that genshin didn't.
For the difficulty -> Whale problem btw [ you don't need all character / all 5* weapons , just up many 4* weapons ] But yes, Genshin = Solo Game [ 45min max / week , don't come all day & it will be better ] ToF = Multi (but not to much, many server are dying about the difference about "Whale" & "F2P"... F2P can't even match vs Whale and Bygone is the key of progress... We don't have time in global, to comeback whale or just a good ranking to get 1st place , 1 time for up the stuff. Stuff difference about a F2P / Whale is now +14 Lv on ATK [ 3k Base ATK ] is a LOT
I'm kind of surprised you played this long if literally every concept in the game is either unengaging , boring or tedious. What was even the point of playing for 2 years ? I watched the entire video but I never actually got a sense of what even you actually wanted. The overall idea I got is " I was waiting for something to be done and nothing ever went in the direction I wanted it to" There's lots of stuff to do but if you don't find joy in anything that's present then why even play? What I'm trying to ask in a sense is "what was your concrete expectation of the game in the first place?"
yeah the genshin story was pretty boring to me i prefer honkai impact 3rd, but then i stopped playing gacha games for now, it only only drain your money in it, basically they only sell the waifu and husbando
@@Dian-p7j nah there was more i didn't cover but it was also just the rest of the game as a whole. story telling and other stuff too i missed. and looking back i do now have the opinion that genshin endgame would be pretty awful too tbh. especially with how they design enemies that you fight.
tbh looking back at when i made this video last year, difficulty wasn't really the main issue but rather I couldn't quite say exactly what i had in mind. That said near the end of my experience with it, Genshin enemy design has been horrible. just full on hp sponges that stall you for time. abyss was also full of multi wave enemies when in earlier iterations mob stages had them all come at you at once. you also had bosses like the magu kenki, golden bitchlord, mech array, ruin serpent, hypostasis cubes basically have a ton of time stalling and invulnerable states to them. there's probably even more of it now , at least feom what i heard and even the god awful elemental shield mechanic on enemies where u are fully reliant on a character's own personal elemental application and icd in order to deal with it, and that situation has been messy too. the only Difficulty Genshin has had isn't like the hard kind of difficulty, but rather the annoying and tedious kind. I've basically realized slowly that tbh Genshin end game would be awful considering how the Devs handle the enemy designs and stuff normally. Well that aside the writing has gotten so much worse with paimon herself just quin-tippling down on all the garbage, characters don't even get used in the story too, cuz u spend all the time talking to the same 5 npc models reskinned, and ofc even that is heavily drawn out and over extended. I will probably at least take a look at the fontaine update but gonna be honest, I'm not looking forward to it, especially when water levels are generally some of the worst parts of any game, and to top it all off its Genshin with genshin's awful pacing, time stalling, and paimon.
yeah like u NEED c6 to make this game easy huh? DO u even play genshin? Like how on earth u think that the game is not too fucking easy and contentless when with jst free 4 satr xiangling comp u destroy everything??

Tof is pretty dead
I heard tof lost like 90% of its playerbase
Genshin gave me Carpal tunnel. Damn non-skippable cutscenes.
The one thing they need to add and they won't do it.
Now I'm kinda glad that I didn't spend too much time on the game.
I quit a few months ago and I don't regret it 😂😂😃

Abusive relationship is exactly what Genshin is lol, it just kept making me "walk into a door"
true...that's why i stop playing Genhin Impact years ago...i play Tower of Fantasy now
Yeah genshin never hear what player say, that make ganshin realy bad
try Persona 5 Royal if you haven't try it, it's really amazing story based game
just curious, how much did you spent for genshin?
let's just say way way too much during the earlier stages of the game.
