  • This is second part of the video from Cascade Rail Foundation's 2011 Milwaukee Employees Annual Luncheon (M.E.A.L).
M.E.A.L. is Cascade Rail Foundation's way of thanking the former employees of the Milwaukee Road for their service on the railroad. Several attendees allowed us to interview them about their experiences on the Milwaukee.
In this segment, former Milwaukee Road conductor Jack Denning talks about his time on the railroad.
Cascade Rail Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the memory of the Milwaukee Road railroad in Washington state. For more information about Cascade Rail Foundation, visit www.milwelectric.org.

Wow! Sixteen hour days! I worked maintenance-of-way and train service respectively for the C&NW and Soo and thought twelve hour days were bad enough. Yeah, I bet the money was good, but 96 hours per week left you with a lot of catching up on life outside the railroad with that one day off (bet having those ninety days off for that derailment came in handy besides for just the "hunting season"). All my respect to this fellow railroader who certainly did his part hauling the nation's freight. And, well done interview asking great questions and thanks for sharing!
