I've just Nikwaxed my 23 year old tent with Solar Proof. All I have to do now is re-apply the gaffer tape patches - I have a few holes!

Nice. Let us know how it performs. I've got a similar problem with an old Vango 😂 will

@@OutdoorsMagicTV I've actually given my Macpac Microlight a thorough service. I know you're never supposed to put a tent in the washing machine, but my PU coating was peeling really badly. I gave the tent several delicate washes at 30º. This loosened the PU to the point where I was able to remove it with the help of a brush and vacuum on really low suction. Once I'd completely removed the PU I replaced it with a product called Gear Aid Seam Grip TF. I let this dry for 24 hours, then today applied the NikWax. I gave it a very thorough dousing with the hose pipe and it seemed ok. I'm heading to the English Lake District tomorrow where heavy rain is almost guaranteed. I'll be sure to report back.

can it be applied twice to make sure?

The wash, yes. I think too much of the proof might make the fabric a little stiff and sticky. Will

Hi Robert. It's my old tried and tested Vango Apex 200 which is no longer in production by Vango though I think some online retailers still do stock it. Will
