    Raf Simons in conversation with Alexander Fury: The state of fashion today from a designer point of view.
    RAF SIMONS:
    PRIDE IN INDIVIDUALITY.
    Fuelled by his love for both rebellious youth cultures and traditional menswear, Raf emerges in fashion halfway through the nineties, presenting a radically different image of masculinity. Fusing the energy and singularity of teenage subcultures with the sharpness and precision of classical sartorial craft, the look presented by Raf Simons is both inspired by and designed for confident outsiders.
    From the first collection on, music, art, performance, images and words have a substantial role in the whole package, summing up, or rather clarifying the kind of world Raf Simons wants to project. Always at the core of his universe (and as essential as the clothes themselves) are attitudes, moods and statements about individuality and independence.
    Raf Simons has been running his namesake label since 1995. He has also made his mark on fashion with his work for Jil Sander, Dior and Calvin Klein in the past years among other projects.
    ALEXANDER FURY:
    Alexander Fury is a fashion journalist, author and critic. He is the Fashion Features Director of AnOther magazine, and the Men's Critic of the Financial Times newspaper. In 2016, he was made the first Chief Fashion Correspondent at T: The New York Times Style Magazine, a position he held until 2018.
    Prior to this, from 2013 to 2016 Fury was fashion editor of the Independent. He was the inaugural Men's Critic for American Vogue.com, covering the Winter 2016 and Spring 2017 menswear seasons. Fury was the first journalist to receive the Editorial Intelligence Award for Fashion Commentator of the Year 2014-15, and was named one of InStyle magazine’s 20 most powerful people in fashion in 2015. He is also a member of the BoF 500.
    His first book Dior: Catwalk was published in June 2017. In 2018, Alexander Fury was the writer for the exhibition Azzedine Alaïa: The Couturier at the Design Museum, London, the first UK retrospective of the designer's work.

    Designers like Gucci and Dior died in the 50s. I find it disappointing people want to connect with such behemoths. Ones that use money to create influence instead of passion.

    why does John Galliano sold his own brand?

    • @ladyjunon6305
      @ladyjunon6305 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While Galliano gained the attention of the press, he never had the most stable business. His jobs at Givenchy and Dior gave him a steadier income and when LVMH offered to invest in his eponymous brand in an attempt to make it grow, he happily accepted. By the time of his firing, he was more or less an employee at his own company. He was replaced by Bill Gaytten who never really caught the attention of the press' or the buyers' and the label's last collection was in 2018.
