Reminds me of the speech in Red Dwarf about life having to be intrinsically unfair in order to enable choice and freewill to exist. If pure totalitarian justice existed everywhere you'd be compelled to never make any incorrect, sub-optimal or even unduly favourable choices or actions whatsoever. And who decides upon these things and what makes something worthwhile anyway? If I want to spend the morning vaguelly gazing out of the window at the beauty of the rain instead of propping up the world economy by utilizing my brain for developing the next engineering marvel... do I need to be "corrected" for that? Perspective is key I think, but I'm yet to master it myself. I can relate to the picking up of dogshit too. Mine insists on pooing in the brambles so that it's near impossible to retrieve it without piercing the bag. Thanks a lot, genius dog. It is absolutely UNFAIR and something should compell him to shit on nothing but unimpeded even clean surfaces at all times.

Lol! Piercing the bag is brutal. I can go one worse. Mine had a spinal injury recently and for a short period didn't have control of her bowels. I woke up one morning and heard her shifting around on her bed. I stumbled over to her in the half light of the morning and thought "what are these weird pieces of fabric on her bed??" As I picked one of the "pieces of fabric up I realised it was a turd.
And yeah whether free will exists literally or just in a kind of artificial way (personally I believe it really exists) it's essential in order for life to be in any way meaningful. A "fair" world would surely just be us sitting around in heroin-like ecstasy 25/7, or just never existing in the first place.

I think you have to accept life is not fair

Yeah, I agree, that's kind of the point of the video

if you want to elaborate more on that idea, i recommend you read Spinoza's "short treatise". It sounds a lot like what you're saying, it's a short read too (no pun intended)

Life isn't fair. But you're also being very vague and broad in what specifically you are talking about. Family and friends, if you are lucky, will probably be those who are most fair with you. What I would add to that, because I think you, like many people, believe in social reciprocity. You like to treat others well, in hopes that they will reciprocate your kindness. You have to accept that not all people are good. Bad things happen to good people too. But what you can do to mitigate that, is associating with and forming better relationships with people who do reciprocate your kindness with respect and mutual support, while gradually reducing contact with those who don't. Give more than you take, and be good to others, if for no other reason than to show them the love the rest of the world doesn't. Even if certain people can't do anything in return for you, no amount of kindness is ever wasted. The good you do is appreciated, and it's the salt of earth kind of attitude that make the world a beautiful place.

What I'm referring to is life itself. So not the people or institutions or society, but just the way life deals our cards. For example: one person might live an extremely healthy lifestyle and get cancer at the age of 40, someone else might smoke and drink their whole life and live til they're 100. On the surface that's "unfair" but in reality it's simply not fair nor unfair, it's just indifferent, it's nothing. It's essentially just random, as far as we know. And so having any feelings beyond the day to day emotional difficulty of the situations life forces upon is pointless, essentially. So when I say "it's not fair" that might easily be misread as me complaining when in reality it's kind of the opposite.
Of course, people should treat one another fairly but whether/why they do/don't is a separate issue really and not what was I referring to here.

Oh ok I see what you mean. Right, it's true. People are born with all different types of genetics, people are born into different socio-economic settings, random things happen to random people. It's a good point. Anyway, good video, hope to see more from you!@@BigDome1
