This video is very helpful! How many schools do you recommend to apply to in order to make sure I’m accepted into a school? I have about 5 schools in the right area, pre reqs, and advanced programs for after my ELMSN.
5 schools sounds like a great group, so that not all of your eggs are in one basket. I took a leap of faith and only applied to my dream program, and got in. But other people would see that as foolish, so 5 is a great bunch!
I have a bachelors degree in Health Services but I want to go to school to become an NP , should I apply to an accelerated nursing program and then go back to school to be an NP or is there a way to go back to school and do both
Thank you for watching! 💛 Yes, the way to go back to school and do both in one shot would be the Direct Entry MSN/Entry Level MSN. It is specifically for students who already have at least a bachelors degree in a field outside of nursing. As I mentioned in the video not all DEMSN programs are specific for NP, some are just MSN-RN programs so you'll have to find the programs that specifically offer NP specialties. I talk about a few of the different ways in this video th-cam.com/video/uLNI2SFOPvU/w-d-xo.html .
Is there a difference in pay for a BSN and MSN? The DEMSN program in my city is just a MSN with no specialty. I would have to go back to obtain a specialty.
Ikeshia Reed if you’re asking about the pay difference for a BSN, RN and an MSN, RN this all varies based on location and where you’d like to work. Generally speaking, as a masters prepared nurse some pay more as you gain more experience, and based on how you negotiate pay for yourself. In other cases pay is the same because some DEMSN programs don’t offer a BSN so then some employers look at a BSN and an DEMSN nurse the same. There are many reasons for that but to keep it short, continue to do research for the pay in your area to see if there is a major difference.
I want to go into DENP: (Psychiatric nursing) school from COTA. People are telling me not to because we won't have enough experience. I really want to though. I don't want to be a floor nurse! Do you have any tips?
omg yes, please don't let people discourage you! I've been meaning to make a video focused on that because it's hard when you have something that you want to accomplish and people are telling you not to. These programs would not exist if they did not want people in them. My program has people from tons of different backgrounds, some in healthcare, kinesiology, business, all sorts. If you find the right program they'll prepare you well! My advice is to keep looking into programs and if you can try to find someone to shadow just to be sure this is the route you want to go! Best of luck to you!
