That part reminded me of when my "friends" accused me of narcissism because I told them they were acting like highschoolers and I wasn't going to respond to their name calling/evidence-less accusations. Why did I tell them this? Because, for months, they had been clearly referencing inside jokes about me and giggling over them...right in front of my face.
But clearly I "made them feel like children" to wriggle my way out of them calling me abusive and manipulative (with zero examples given of said behavior when I asked how I was hurting them. Because they couldn't "do all the work for me" and I "needed to pray about it" so GOD would tell me of my wrongdoings. (Yes, seriously.)

People who play music without headphones when they’re not specifically playing for a party or a group is one of my pet peeves. It’s super rude. There are a couple of employees at my store who sit in the breakroom and watch videos or play music without headphones! One of them will also FaceTime without headphones and gets upset when other people are talking in the breakroom, like we’re the rude ones. The other employee is a neckbeard who eats chips with his mouth wide open as he watches his cartoons. My girlfriend's ex found out she was visiting my house and came over, knocked on the door and tried yelling for her over my shoulder. I told him to F off and go home.
15 minutes later, his mommy and sister drive up, start pounding on my door and screaming "I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE MEGAN, GET OUT HERE!" I opened the door and asked what they want, and the mom shouts "I WANT YOU TO STOP FUCKING BOB'S GIRLFRIEND!" Then she tried to physically push her way into my apartment, but she was 90lbs soaking wet, it didn't take much to gently usher her back outside and slam the door. They stayed out there for another 15 minutes shouting and pounding on the door.
I was 19, the guy who called his mommy on me was 21! 😂

It consisted of me having to wait until I got a field report and was waiting in the lobby. The front desk, houseman, & I ordered Jimmy-Johns and visited. Hotels need to have some sort of inconvenience fee where for every warning you get past the first one, you get charged extra. Plus, they better have charged that wedding party for all of the stuff they broke, the floors being cleaned from the coffee, and any other extraneous charges. Families like that don’t deserve to have nice weddings.

Example those snotty women acting entitled and treating the workers disgustingly seemed like those girls from mean girls thus "what is this mean girls2?" I hope this helps you understand.

Another FOM here, having been active in different hotel chains, I can honestly say receiving calls from parents trying to tell you off for their "precious" children was more common than good in there early 2010s in my experience.
My favourite comment in the wedding category is always the most random uncle in the family coming to the desk, skipping queues and coming with outrageous requests, followed with a "don't you know who I am" and/or "don't you know how much money we are spending to you" no, I don't know you and am not interested. You have never paid a single dime as the room costs are billed to the master account, and even if you paid a million, you will receive the same respect as the guest behind you lol

My cousin worked for a mechanic and a rich woman who looked like she was in her 30’s, walks in and says “Keep my car. I hate it to death.” She handed him the title and he couldn’t believe his eyes. The car was a 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista. He had never seen one, let alone dreamt of even owning one, but now, he owns one of 3500. Yes, that’s right, 3,500 of these cars were ever made. And this is why I REALLY love going to his place.

I actually just recently started working front desk at a hotel too. I’ve worked at said hotel since the June 1st 2020. I was working house attendant (also called houseman) first on 2nd shift but was recently asked if I wanted to try night audit. Just working the front desk on 3rd shift at night. I agreed and started training though they’ve been jumping me between the two positions.
Anyway since I’ve just had only my 3rd night alone and training not being consistent due to be juggled between the two positions while being taught it’s taking me longer to learn and memorize everything. It’s a pretty easy shift with simple stuff to do it’s just a lot of info to take in is all.
I’ve had had a couple people so far who were walk-ins who were patient with me at first but didn’t remain that way and got irritated at me for taking awhile to check them in. The first walk-in reservation I did alone (it was a guy) took around an hour but that’s because of a technical difficulty that I had to call a coworker for to get their help with because I didn’t know how to fix it myself. He made a rude comment about how the hotel lets someone like me work there. Me: 🙄
Another walk-in last night (a lady) didn’t take near as long though still longer then it should due to me forgetting how to do a few things. She commented about it’s never taken her that long to check in. Me: (in my head) Yeah that’s probably because you had someone check you in that was more experienced and practiced at it then me... She stomped her foot a bit a couple times during this.
I think both of those people probably don’t like me now. Not that I care as I’m still learning and practicing. But hey I’m getting slowly better at it each time I do it so that’s good at least. Unless you’re training someone or being trained then during night audit you’re alone with the only staff on premises is yourself and the security guard. At least where I work. It’s nerve wracking at first. But with practice you get used to it and better at it.
Sorry that was so long but that’s been my recent experience with starting to work the front desk.
