I just recently bought these after owning two pairs of the Studio Wireless 2's for the past 4 years. I noticed absolutely no difference in sound or bass. They sounded just as good as the 2's. Very loud and plenty of bass.

I can tell the difference because i have used my old ones for years now! I bought the studio 3 because i need to replace my ear pads on my old ones. I use the old ones for everything, running, gym, travel. The old ones have truly been the best. Some people say in the comments that the studio 3 needs time to break in... hhmm thinking of returning the new ones and just sticking to replacing my pads on the old ones.
I got em free with the iMac I ordered (exact same color, just beautiful). And I am in Love with these. I haven’t used previous versions, so I can’t compare them, but they are really good and I am very happy. Especially because I didn’t pay extra for them :)
To everyone who has older beats before apple, and look to purchase these… I strongly advise to go try them out first. They do not have nearly as much bass as the older pairs. And if you are a bass head like me, this could be a problem. The sound quality and sound cancellation are good for something this price but they are SEVERELY lacking in the bass department. If you have subwoofers in your car these will feel like they have no bass at all. Hope this helps someone.
You do what other do wrong as well. New headphones are not supposed to be played at highest volume when you get them. Of course your used ones have a better sound because they become accustomed over time To that to the Beats 3 and see what happens over time, same result. I had AKG's for over a year and after a year the sound became way better than when I got them. Mainly because I play my music at average volume level.
Bass is a cover up for less than perfect sound quality. Being an audiophile that would be the last thing you'd be listening for, yeah people love bass but it's mostly a distraction. I'll take the 3rd generation if the overall sound quality is better. Thanks for the review

Completely agree with you I bought these studios from Apple store and I was completely disappointed with the audio quality HOWEVER I connected them to my Galaxy S10+ ( I got 2 phones) (Kevin Gates mode ) and got wayyyyy more bass and vocal power I guess the volume output on an android is higher and all the functions work on the android just like the iPhone

Studio 3 has less bass than the Studio 2 for an reason. The studio 2 was way too boomy, so Apple made the Studio 3 less boomy.
