Hello! Wow! You’re so kind to mention my video! I’ve been watching your channel for years, so to say I was pumped hear that you’ve even seen one of my videos would be a huge understatement! Your top turned out SO beautiful and fits you perfectly! I would love to eventually learn how to adjust patterns as wonderfully as you. The fabric you chose is magic. Block printed fabric is so special, and suits this style perfectly! Also- Thank you so much for sharing your health updates with us. Wishing you effective (and tolerable) treatments, and a smooth recovery! 💕
Thank you, Rachel! I've watched several of your videos and love your style! Happy to give you a shout out :) and I loved the fabric you used, it gave me the nudge i needed to finally get these block prints!
I agree. That top looks wonderful and being able to modify things to flatter ones proportions is priceless. The word flatter is appropriate because we aren't saying anything that isn't true. The reason why most store bought garments don't look flattering on everyone is because everyones proportions are different, not bad. Perfect example is my husband and myself, we are about the same height but he is long torso and short legs and I am short torso with a high waist and longer legs. It's all about proportion.
Yes! I tell my sewing students that ready to wear clothing often doesn’t fit and flatter because it isn’t really made to fit anyone, it’s made to *approximately* fit *everyone,* and that can never satisfy us all. When you sew your own clothes, they are all made to fit exactly one person. And that’s wonderful!
I appreciate the health update- always thinking of you with so much empathy, but know it's not your favorite topic to be bombarded with. I LOVE that fabric- my style is sort of urban boho I guess so all those prints and patterns make me happy!
I had breast cancer last year had 2surgeries and then radiation and doing great You look amazing and yes if you feel a little tired by all means rest🙏🙏🙏🙏
Love your top! I was told to never use canned air, it blows what you can't see deeper into the machine. I got one of those little vacuum attachments, and use pipe cleaners. Praying for you ❤🙏
Nothing wrong with flattering clothes. It's the reason why I want to sew. Of course the clothes should fit well but that's the foundation. I really like your top. Cute. Is your right arm a little bit narrowed? Happy that you're feeling well. Get better soon. Love from Germany
Best wishes. I had cancer 3 years ago. You can beat it, too. Keep sewing as much as you are able. It will make you feel like yourself. Love the fabric and the design you have chosen, it's really cute!
Thank you for sharing your creative process, the top looks great on you. Yes, once you sew your own clothes to fit, it is hard not to critique factory made! So glad you are doing well with your treatments🌷
I am so sorry to hear you aren't well. You are brave and positive. I admire your determined spirit. Keep on putting one foot in front of the other and you will reach the end of this tunnel. Blessings to you❤
Absolutely stunning! Even though this was a hack of one of your patterns, you should totally release this!! All the very best with your treatment, we are thinking of you. Hugs from Australia!! 😘😀
I admire how you make it sound so easy. That, of course, is experience talking. I understood your idea of changing the armhole part and adding puff sleeves. All of that you said was changing, sounds complicated.
I’m so glad you are doing well. You’ve been in my thoughts since you shared your news. 🙏🏻 So, it’s taboo to say “flattering”? I’m oldish, so I didn’t know that this had become a thing(?) But, allow me to be a favorite aunt for a minute and grant you full permission to use the term and to want your clothes to be flattering. 😁 That top is so pretty! I have the same issues with peasant tops. My bust is just too full for most peasant tops to hang properly, and I love the style of them, particularly since I’m currently enjoying revisiting my hippie youth style. All of the wide leg jeans, peasant tops, milkmaid dresses - these were all my teens and early twenties styles. And, my generation was “upcycling” our jeans long before it was called that. 😄 So, thank you for this. ☮️✌️and ❤ from a 1970s girl!
This is a great hack. I really love this style of top too. I love the longer sleeves and the skirt part is placed in the perfect spot. I've made 3 of your poppy blouses and I wear them so much in the summer. I made all three of them out of rayon challis (my favorite fabric next to linen) I hope you know how talented you are. Oh, and so glad you're doing well and that you don't have to have chemo. I am a registered oncology nurse and some advice I can give you is stay hydrated. Also, Rad Therapy can make you super tired but you will get through this. It's a temporary but necessary aggravation. Anyway, thanks for sharing this part of your life with us.
Well that was a super demo. Really enjoyed it. Thanks for the health update; really pleased you’re doing so well. Before you know it the radiotherapy will be over. Keep applying the cream, keep doing the exercises as they are important. You may be tired towards the end of the treatment but that can be satisfied with an afternoon nap, it’s allowed. Keep up the good work xx
I've been wanting to try this pattern as well, but I, too, have been worried about where the ruffled skirt would hit. I'm so glad you took the leap for all of us! ❤ Thank you.
Casey, I didn't want to inquire, but I am sooo pleased to hear you are doing well! Thank you for updating us. You look and sound beautiful. Take care of yourself. Your top did come out lovely. ♡
There is nothing wrong with wanting your clothes to flatter your body. If you feel confident, you look better. 🤩 Thanks for sharing your journey with us Casey.
Thx for letting us know how you’re doing. Im so glad to hear things are going well for you. Hoping you get the all clear asap. Love your channel. You’ve got me motivated to sew again😎.
It turned out so cute! That print is gorgeous. I love Rachel's channel, and it's awesome to hear one of my favourite TH-cam sewing creators shouting out another of my faves ❤
The blouse is lovely. Thank you for sharing. I would definitely have to attach the second tier way below my bustline to feel comfortable wearing the blouse. I wish you all the best for your ongoing treatment. nothing but positivity.
Hi Casey. I saw that Rach video and fell in love with that top too! I had the same concern about the way it would hang and am so glad that you modified it. I'll say it - very flattering. Thank you! Yours looks great on you and you look great as well.
Thank you! Yes, and I also worried that the fabric would bunch into my cleavage, which I forgot to mention 😬 But this worked out great for me! I also loved the fabric she used for hers, definitely inspired my fabric choice too!
Gorgeous top Kasey! I’ve just discovered Rach too and I love her style (and her hair, lol). Your talent in adjusting as you go to tweak things to your liking is unparalleled. Glad your treatment is going ok, long may it continue ❤
The fabric colours and drape look absolutely gorgeous on you! Thank you for demonstrating how to make simple changes to your pattern. I would never have seen the vision of a peasant blouse in a shirt dress pattern. After seeing the 2 sleeve lengths, I prefer the elbow length - maybe it looks more airy and lighter than the shorter version which is more in line with your bohemian vibes. Looks like you are ready for hot weather! I am happy to hear that you are doing well too. Thank you for sharing your health status update!
I love the top. It is flattering on you. Please make this a pattern for sale, I would definitely buy it. Good luck with Radiation. I am a BC survivor for 18 years.
Your top is gorgeous especially in that stunning fabric. I think you put the peplum in just the right place. I actually have this pattern in my 'to do' list but haven't found the fabric I want for it yet but I do love your block print. I just made the Itch to Stitch Vienna top in one of these block prints and like you say, it is so light and floaty.
Very nice! Every time I see your style, it makes me want to copy you. :-) Congrats on making it through surgery without incident. So glad you're doing well and on the mend. You're immensely talented. I enjoy watching your videos.
Looks lovely! I think it's okay to say something is flattering, wear what you want of course, but I think we all have styles that suit us better than others and that we feel more comfortable and beautiful in. Glad to hear your radiation treatment is going well. ❤️
I’m so impressed by your creativity! Thank you so much for for the inspiration. I hope you are tolerating the radiation, it can cause fatigue so rest up. Xox, Bonnie
Absolutely agree. The shorter sleeves were too cutesy and the longer ones are perfect. Well now that I have the pattern, May as well go for the hack, too😂. Great video and as always enjoy your styling comments. Glad to hear week one went well enough! Suzanne❤
Love it, super cute! Tips that flatter certain aspects of our bodies are always welcome😊. Kristin’s Dahlia Sewciety brings that Indian block-print cotton fabric into Australia - colours and prints vary according to seasons.
I really love that you go through the whole process from start to finish. I am so pleased you have chosen block print fabrics. I am obsessed with them at the moment. I love Indian block print and Ikat. Good luck with the treatment. My mum had the same treatment last year. She's recovered really well ❤
sweet blouse! love this style of blouse and appreciate the lower ruffle for larger busts. another sleeve option is @ 9:53 with gather just above elbow at the full sleeve length. Thank you so much for letting us see your thought process. Wishing you will with your recovery!
Hi Casey. So glad you are doing so well. You look absolutely beautiful. I love the orange top & the style of it. I learn a lot from your try- ons and analysis of your garments. Thank you for all you do.
So good to see you Casey. You're top is gorgeous and the reminder, again, that making something we like doesn't always mean that we need a new pattern. Your tweaks were perfect. I love block-printed cotton but always assume that it's too heavy/sturdy for tops and dresses. I guess that's all I've ever seen. I'll definitely keep my eye out for lighter-weight versions.
On another note, I have a stretch woven fabric and wondered about a pants pattern that might work. I was thinking the Dawn jeans but the pattern calls for rigid denim. I typed randomly into google "Has anyone every made the Dawn jeans in stretch woven" and, voila!, a video of yours on this very topic came out on top. I'm off to watch that video now. Thanks for the great content. Wishing you continued peach, strength, and good health.
This fabric is super lightweight, actually! I definitely recommend it for tops like this. And for the Dawn Jeans: yes I have made them in both stretch and non-stretch denim and they turned out great! That is a fantastic jeans pattern :)
Oh. My. Goodness! Such a great demo of using a pattern that fits you perfectly , and making it into another piece that fits you perfectly! Thank you! And that FABRIC😍😍 it looked so dreamy to work with.
This is so surreal 😄. I, too saw Rachel's video and downloaded the free pattern with some special fabric in mind. Then, I too balked at the gathering above the bust for the same reason. The solution is all on you, though. I'm totally doing this hack with my Vivi pattern. Thanks!
Haha, well I am glad I made this video! I've been wearing it a lot, too! Definitely gonna be in heavy rotation (and I also kinda want to make one out of a cotton lawn or tissue linen).
Thanks to your gentle reminder, I had my first mammogram since 2018 just last week. I hope you tolerate radiation well🙏🏻. I love your video today, but then, I am especially fond of your peasant blouse versions, in general.👏🏻
Nice to see you looking so well. I hope you get through it all just as well. I like Rachel's style too. Love the fabric and finished top. It's fun to see your process. You have a good handle on what suits you.
Love this top with the modifications that you made! The fabric is absolutely dreamy and the perfect fit for this style of the top? So glad to hear that you are feeling good.
That top reminds me of the Poppy blouse. I just finished that one and I love it. I made it in a sheer fabric and wear it over a tank top. Good to hear you’re doing well with your treatments! I did chemo and I’m glad you didn’t have to do that. It’s a bear.
This was really helpful! I love boho style, but have avoided tops with gathering at the bust apex. This mod inspires me to give it a try. Love the fabric and the finished design.
You did a beautiful job on that blouse! I love how you explain your thought process, too. I've always enjoyed your videos. Your whole attitude on sewing and now health, too, is refreshing and shows your strength, creativity, and intelligence. Here's to you for all you share here - and to kicking that health issue's butt!
100% Casey! I love these hacks you do. You have a very good eye for styling. You are so right about the peasant blouse not looking the best on a larger bust. Your version is great and if you made this as a pattern, I would make it.
I did the radiation treatments too and the only side effect I had from that was a bad memory for a few months. If you take tamoxifen you may notice being more tired than usual. Thanks for your videos! Good luck with treatment ❤
Great job! I loved watching your process and thinking through options before committing to one. This video is really helpful for me because I am often trying to "backwards engineer" items for my grand-daughters. Ready to wear is expensive and traditional sewing patterns are not like the current little girl clothes my daughter and my grand-daughters prefer.
It's really pretty! 😍 The sleeves are perfect for the style, in my view. So plased to hear that you're not feeling unwell as a result of the radiation - wishing you all the best 🙏
I repair sewing machines and use special brushes to remove lint from the shuttle area. Using canned air runs the risk of forcing some of the lint into the other internal working parts of the machine becoming a potential problem as the lint will stick to the oil at places where there should be movement. If you want your machine to have a long life, use brushes to remove lint from the shuttle area. Also, some machines need the shuttle gear area exposed and removal of lint. If lint drom the shuttle aea can reach the gear (some brands the lint from the shuttle area can drop onto the gear) The shuttle area should be cleaned every two bobbins of thread, and more frequently when sewing microfleece.
Great top, definitely flattering 😍 Glad you're doing well, health wise. I found radiotherapy effected my stamina (5&1/2 years ago now) but also reduced the scarring from surgery so silver linings 💖
Good to know! Yes, I have noticed a few silver linings (like the little breast lift from surgery and radiation 😅), and the doc did mention rad would reduce the scarring, so that's good!
This looks gorgeous. I get it completely. I have scoliosis so I like the back of my tops to fit closer to my lower back. That might sound odd because you would see more definition but it's better to show the curvature than to look like a rectangular block because the clothes are draping from my widest points front and back. 🤷🏽♀️ For my figure I would have dropped it lower and gone with a peplum so you can see that I have multiple body parts, ha.

Yes, exactly! "Flattering" to me is not about pleasing anyone but myself (or beating myself up when things don't fit me well)! :)

I've been wanting to try this pattern as well, but I, too, have been worried about where the ruffled skirt would hit. I'm so glad you took the leap for all of us! ❤ Thank you.
The peplum style blouse really suits you!
Casey, I didn't want to inquire, but I am sooo pleased to hear you are doing well! Thank you for updating us. You look and sound beautiful. Take care of yourself. Your top did come out lovely. ♡

Well done! Love it! Sending healing vibes and best wishes from Down Under 💐🥰🇦🇺
Hi Casey! I always look forward to your videos. I love how you hacked this top! I am so glad you are doing well. Take care!
I'm so glad! Thank you!
Looks great, and beautiful fabric! I'm glad to hear your health progress.😊
I saw her video and totally agreed about the line going right through my bust, I love your version so much!!!
I love the slightly longer sleeve. Super cute.
Cute cute and it is very ‘ flattering’! Love the fabric too! Good choice!
Thank you! ;) These block printed fabrics are SO nice...such a treat to sew with!
Pls make another top with little puff sleeves. So cute❤❤
I was just wondering about your treatment. Best wishes for your healing & future-return to health. Cute top! Thanks for sharing your process.
I've just recently discovered her channel--she shares the cutest makes! Style goals!
The blouse is lovely. Thank you for sharing. I would definitely have to attach the second tier way below my bustline to feel comfortable wearing the blouse. I wish you all the best for your ongoing treatment. nothing but positivity.

Yes, flattering is the word! 😍

It is such a treat to watch your process!! Gorgeous fabric and it turned out SO well!! 😻
cute blouse! I LOVE the sleeve length at the end. thank you for showing us how you hacked this.
I love the top. It is flattering on you. Please make this a pattern for sale, I would definitely buy it. Good luck with Radiation. I am a BC survivor for 18 years.
I love the approach you took to modifying this pattern to get the look you want! Thanks for sharing :)
Love the top!
Thanks for sharing your treatment status with us-so glad it’s going well!!
Your top is gorgeous especially in that stunning fabric. I think you put the peplum in just the right place. I actually have this pattern in my 'to do' list but haven't found the fabric I want for it yet but I do love your block print. That top is adorable. Love it and it looks really great on you!,
Thanks for showing us more about sewing hacks This is so cute!
Love your top. It came out so cute. Glad that you are doing well also with your treatments.
Great blouse. So interesting to see the process of changing a pattern. Glad you haven’t had to have chemo, it sucks!
Kristen has GORGEOUS fabrics, too! I was just looking at them the other day. She has a great eye!
I really love that you go through the whole process from start to finish. I am so pleased you have chosen block print fabrics. I am obsessed with them at the moment. I love Indian block print and Ikat. Good luck with the treatment. My mum had the same treatment last year. She's recovered really well ❤
So glad to hear your mom is doing well after her treatment!
sweet blouse! love this style of blouse and appreciate the lower ruffle for larger busts. another sleeve option is @ 9:53 with gather just above elbow at the full sleeve length. Thank you so much for letting us see your thought process. Wishing you will with your recovery!
What a gorgeous top and that material is absolutely stunning 😍
Yes very flattering and be proud.
Adorable. Hacks are my favorite.
Love the longer sleeve looks great. Glad to hear your treatment is going well :)
Hi Casey. So glad you are doing so well. You look absolutely beautiful. I love the orange top & the style of it. I learn a lot from your try- ons and analysis of your garments. Thank you for all you do.
Ah thanks so much! 🥰
Really love the top, the colour is great too, a great hack. Good luck with the rest of your treatment ❤
Oh. My.
Oh good!! So glad you got it! :)
What a relief to know everything is ok. Thank you and I am praying for your continued
good progress.❤
This turned out so cute and the fabric was perfect for it ❤
Nice to see you looking so well.
I was thinking the same thing about the Poppy blouse when I finished this top! haha. I have heard that chemo can be so rough.
This was really helpful! I love boho style, but have avoided tops with gathering at the bust apex. This mod inspires me to give it a try. Love the fabric and the finished design.
Love the top and the fabric is so beautiful 😊
Love and prayers for you on your radiation journey
You did a beautiful job on that blouse! I love how you explain your thought process, too. I've always enjoyed your videos. Your whole attitude on sewing and now health, too, is refreshing and shows your strength, creativity, and intelligence. Here's to you for all you share here - and to kicking that health issue's butt!
Thank you so much!
I’ve been looking for a new site to find fabric. Thank you for the suggestion. Prayers that your journey continues to go smoothly.
The top is gorgeous! I love the sleeves at the longer length that you ended up with.
Beautiful blouse and yes that fabric is awesome! So glad you’re doing good with your surgery and treatments! Always enjoy your videos!👗🪡🧵🥰
I agree with your finished product
100% Casey! I love these hacks you do. You have a very good eye for styling. You are so right about the peasant blouse not looking the best on a larger bust. Your version is great and if you made this as a pattern, I would make it.
So glad your doing well. Lots of prayers for you. 🤲🤲
Super cute!! Good choice on the sleeves
I did the radiation treatments too and the only side effect I had from that was a bad memory for a few months. If you take tamoxifen you may notice being more tired than usual. Thanks for your videos! Good luck with treatment ❤
So happy to hear you are doing well! The top is adorable on you.
These are relatively difficult operations. Thank you to the author for sharing the entire process. These are very helpful for the sewing learners🥰
It's a,really lovely top and it's good news on your illness too. Keep well 🙏
It's really pretty! 😍 The sleeves are perfect for the style, in my view.
So plased to hear that you're not feeling unwell as a result of the radiation - wishing you all the best 🙏
Super cute! I love peasant blouses too.
Super cute hack! You made the pattern modification look so easy
Such a cute top. And I’m really happy for you that you’re feeling well.
That is a lovely blouse and the fabric is beautiful. So glad you are doing well. The comments are still at the bottom for me at present,
I repair sewing machines and use special brushes to remove lint from the shuttle area.
Thank you! I love a peasant blouse! So glad you are doing well!
I looove how this turned out!
Great top, definitely flattering 😍
Glad you're doing well, health wise.
Your top is so pretty! I love the sleeve length you finished it with. I need to do more hacking. Thanks for the inspiration!
Great hack of the Vivie pattern. I also thought your Poppy pattern would work for a dupe as well even though it has raglan sleeves.
Cute! Darn you're good! So happy your treatment is going well! Take care!!❤
Good to hear your treatment is going well. ❤
Nice to see the process.
