Great times.

4 hour trip to get to this beach, John: "wow, we're already there?" We're British, mate. A half hour trip counts as a long drive in these parts. Fun fact: no matter where you are in Britain, you're never more than 72 miles from the coast. Kinda puts into perspective how small we are compared to the US.
My family in Britain and Ireland have said too, and it's the same story in NZ. You're rarely more than 60kms from the coast, and if you can't see both the ocean and a mountain range, it probably means you're on/in one lol

But between how cool and chic/fashionable Mica is dressed and the constant dialogue about how gross the apartments are (which yeah I can understand why the narration is banging on about that, after decades of that it WOULD be disgusting and naturally that's what someone new coming in would notice), it is making me laugh HOW MUCH she's bringing it up unprompted. John's valley girl "GROSS" bit felt so on the money lmao
This is just a guess, but I think they tried writing Mica to be like Heather from Silent Hill 3, the type of Heather before Harry's tragedy happens. Before the tragedy, she was snarky and comments on things like "uh I don't want to eat anything from an alternate dimension ok". It's giving me the same vibes lol.

Ooh, and with Doug Runningman's Crow Country on the docket for Book Club, John's got a heaping helping of survival horror on his plate (hopefully not too samey). Idk when he'll get to it or if it'll go up on the channel, but that's interesting that they'll be kind of in the same timeframe as each other. So far, the visuals and atmosphere are really great, seems like it really captured the feeling it was going for. Like the simple but spooky creature designs! That noodley looking pale woman creeped me out lol.
Fortunately, I think Crow Country differentiates from this well enough. Crow Country has that RE1 'mansion' blueprint to it, which this doesn't really follow. I hope he has a good time with the both of them.

And i was waiting for someone like you specially to play it, it even enhances the experience for me, the game looks even better than expected. Those 3 references, silent hill 1 fixed camera lighter intro, the matrix 1 rain bridge scene and the first encounter parasite eve style :D even the protagonist looks like aya brea, it is right around my alley
The section with the man on the roof reminded me very strongly of the scene in Cry of Fear when Sophie is on the roof. The guy was even dressed like Simon so i would bet it was a little reference.
With the level of robotics they probably have the place she lives in is likely to be scrubbed spotless almost hourly. This is probably a big shock "The way humans USED to live". We are currently the same about open air cesspools with a toilet built on a platform above it. (Slumdog Millionaire)

this game is supposed to be dark but you’ve got your game brightness a bit too low. If you look at other gameplay, the area outside of the flashlight is not supposed to be almost pitch black.
In case no one said already, that was the wall she flew over. Britain went the "Escape from New York" route which is ok with me with the American prison system getting as bad as it is. (I travel the country working in different prisons)
Cant be just Me, Yet does the Map and Inventory UX / UI bring me fond memories of Metal Gear or Metroid Prime franhcise or series of Games ( Clarification not a slight wish more games did as Giants of ol' within the industry and cribbed what worked and left what didn't )

Yeah agreed. It feels surprisingly repetitive so far. The apartments were really lacking in some stand out areas. Only just few stand out apartments would've made a huge difference. It's cool otherwise.
