From TH-cam I found this non-acidic formula: 1 pint water, 1/4 cup denatured alcohol (or vodka 😂), 5 drops Dawn dishwashing liquid soap. Spray onto surface; wipe with microfiber cloth. Works perfectly. I even use it on hardwood floors and painted cabinet doors. Oh, yeah, I’ve never personally used the vodka.
Yes I drop a capful of alcohol in the bucket sometimes, but I really think the hot water and the mop does the trick. The ring our bucket and mop brand name Veleda in Canada Think its called Cedar something or other in the US but it is the same mop and bucket. It makes such a difference. Like I said the floors stay clean for much longer and less dust is attracted too.

I have made my own for years and decided I need something stronger and bought a can of Old English. I can go so much longer without dust. However! I have never put dish soap in my homemade. Maybe that is the secret ingredient I've been missing. Will definitely try again when my can of OE runs out. Thank you!
I also have concerns about dish soap and vinegar on wood. Soap by design is meant to clean but also to be rinsed off along with the dirt and vinegar is acidic and most non true wood floors have a natural coating that can be removed by the acidic vinegar. I have used vinegar instead of fabric softener in my wash for over 25 years now so I love vinegar. I also use it to rinse my hair and my dogs after washing, albeit I use coconut sap vinegar for that. I did recently find a better method for cleaning my floors that repels dust and paw prints from professional cleaners who warn about cleaning wood or laminate floors with vinegar. I tried it and it works great. I used to have to wash my floors every other day and sweep sometimes 2x a day to get rid of paw prints and pet hair and dust bunnies especially during shedding season now I dust the floors 2xs a week during shedding season and wash once a week. The solution I use on my maple wood laminate floors is very hot water ( I live in Richmond Bc Canada so the water in this city is very soft), a quarter or even an eighth rap of salt. Plain table salt. A drop of Murphy oil soap for wood, and the magic is a couple Tbls of rubbing alcohol. I use the spiny mop bucket and mop. The mop is just a little damp so it has to be wrung out in the spinner really well and mop mop mop. The water has to be very hot, I guess the hot water and the alcohol help speed drying and prevents streaking. Personally in my opinion I prefer the old fashioned real hardwood floors to this maple laminate wood, but this house has the laminate throughout and I much prefer it to carpet. I have a old time rough collie, a mini American Eskimo and a long haired Turkish Angora long haired cat, 6 bedrooms so lots of ,laminate floors throughout two huge sons and a morkie too. Lots of messes to clean up after. I like the Murphy’s soap for wood floors better because it is designed to clean wood, but I do use dawn for all my other cleaning. There is another soap that is better on carpet and glass top stoves and also in the dishwasher for homemade soap it’s called 1000 plus stain remover. It comes in a litre or quart size and you use a drop. It smells like bananas. You put a few drops on a scrubby and it dissolves the stove build up on glass or anything else. Then I rinse with lemon juice from the bottle. Use on windows too and laundry. Because it dissolves I don’t use it on furniture or floors. I used to use the method this very lovely lady described for years and I have noticed some areas on the laminate where the manufacturer coating has been removed. Now I won’t ever use vinegar on my laminate again and only use soap designed for wood.
Absolutely never use vinegar on laminate, polyurethaned real wood floors or LVP floors! The vinegar will degrade the polyurethane and will degrade LVP floors. For LVP only use a neutral cleaner like zep for floors. Natural/diy cleaner as you’ve said with hot water and smidge of salt works well. The hot water breaks down dirt and dissolves grainy salt so doesn’t scratch. Another thing that’s terrible for the above floors is a steam mop! The steam will dissolve coating pretty quickly depending on how often you mop. Steam mopping also dissolves the glue under floor with laminate and LVP. Save the steam for tile floor if you must. Murphys oil soap diluted is good for wood floors and furniture, but cloth/mop has to be barely damp. Murphys is made for wood and doesn’t need rinsing. An occasional application of beeswax on real wood furniture helps keep scratches down too.

A good multi purpose cleaner would be good for quartz...this mix is better for things like shelving, furniture, ceiling fans etc or anything that Pledge would be used for

Woodworker here, OO gets sticky after awhile especially if you don't thoroughly clean the piece before re-applying it and it eventually will go rancid so be careful using it on wood. Because it doesn't dry it also helps bacterial growth.

These days, anything to save money is a good idea. I make a similar spray cleaner with distilled water, white vinegar, a few drops of dish soap, and strips of citrus zest. It works just fine, smells fresh, and costs a few cents for a bottle. However, this is not safe for stone counters. It can cause pitting.
I have used 1 tesp. kerosene and a quart of very hot water, dip your cloth in the mixture squeeze it out and wipe, then wipe dry with a linen or cotton dish towel. Of course you can use something like Windex, but this stays cleaner longer.
@@asimpleseason2616 I think the risk is to cats( maybe birds?). Diffusers are supposed to be risky for them. I have dusted with vinegar/water/ lemon oil for years. No issues with the cats.

Microfiber Wholesale makes excellent microfiber cloths. And they absorb liquids like a sponge!
