14:08 Back in Beta 1.5, when they'd first added lightning, I had just finished building an entirely wooden house... with a glass roof. I'd left to go fetch my friend to show them, and in the middle of the tour, a thunderstorm started, and lighting struck right through my roof. The fire damage was devastating and it spread so fast, that all we could do was narrowly escape with my dog, and the whole house was unsalvageable.
I have... not played with firespread enabled much since, to say the least, gahaha. This totally reminded me of that, though- I thought I was crazy for thinking fire spread used to be so fast and devastating. You can see it in the video here, but blocks remained "hot" and even putting out the flames didn't guarantee anything, because the fires could still relight. Seriously though, great video!

The first time skulk came out, I immediately built a house out of skulk blocks. It was in the middle of a town I was building. Later, the texture got removed for development, and in place of the skulk was an ugly, dirt-green update block house. Not that the skulk was the greatest building material anyway, but yeah. After skulk texture came back it was back to normal.

the lava rooms and obsidian sphere rooms in the mansions actually serve a purpose in the center of each of the is a diamond block. the illagers obvivously know how valuable diamonds are so the store them in hidden rooms and protect them with either lava or obsidian to make it hard for thieves to get their hands on.
Looking back at the bedrock skulls I may have an explanation for it. Block Textures in Minecraft, at least when viewed from the top or bottom, don’t share the same orientation. Taking a closer look at bedrock shows that the skull pattern is in random locations but what those locations all have in common is that they cover four bordering corners of bedrock blocks. Taking an even closer look shows that sometimes only part of a bedrock skull is visible meaning that, again since the skulls are part of corners, the full skull is the result of corners of four bordering bedrock textures coincidentally bordering each in the right orientation that makes it look like a skull. Something similar happens with grass blocks where the top grass pattern may sometimes form tiny “stars” from connecting corners of grass textures. So the bedrock skulls (like the grass stars) are unintentional and don’t serve any purpose or reason.

5:51 in experimental mode, jungle villagers are naturally spawned (in bedrock atleast), meaning that it is possible that they will be added to the game!
i stumbled upon a swamp villager living next to a plain villager
one time in bedrock i had a village that was in the plain and swamp bioma at once . It was really weird bc. half of the villager were swamp villagers
Thinking back on it, I actually remember seeing prismarine blocks being blue at times.
I think the reason for the “south-east rule” is due to the fact that south and East are positive on the x and z coordinates. Also, facing south is “0” in horizontal direction

honestly a lot of these iceberg things are just bugs or quirks that arise naturally from simple stuff like that. they're cool, but at the end of the day there's no meaning to them beyond "someone forgot to initialize a variable" or something like that

18:01 They are called that way, because in earlier versions you could get "smooth stone" by placing a double slab (depending on the id, different versions) via command. The block would have the bottom texture of the old stone slab, which was smooth. Going by that idea, the smooth stone brick etc use the bottom texture of their corresponding slab.

In the ice part of the iceburg(no pun intended) I know why it makes light. It is because in real life blue ice refractes and reflects light to create a glow effect
*Some notes to consider:*
The bedrock texture is a high saturation variant of the *pre 1.14* stone texture,
but you're showing the new stone texture in the video. While the stone texture has been updated in 1.14,
the bedrock texture hasn't.
Same with the endstone&cobblestone texture, but yes,
the old endstone texture is just an inverted (old) cobblestone texture.
The bedrock and stone textures are randomly mirrored (both verticaly and horisontaly),
depending on what coordinate they're on. This makes it very unlikely that the wither face is intentional.
There are other textures that are randomly rotated depending on their coordinates, such as:
the grass block top, the clay, and the sand texture.
They did update the bedrock texture, but it's no longer a high contrast version of updated stone. Instead, the retexture is just based off it's old bedrock texture.
The grass creates stars
There is a face higher up from the wither face it to me looks like a body

I remember Minecraft education edition. My first experience with it was in middle school when I first got a laptop from a school. I’m guessing they had an idea to include it in school work of some sort, but was ultimately unfortunately banned in my school due to other kids my age abusing it and it not showing very much promise. Regardless it is a very interesting topic.
I recall at one point petrified slabs were gonna be craftable by cooking them in the furnace, along with including all types of wooden slab.

One thing I always found interesting about the Wither painting is that it has a Netherrack like wall in the background, but also grass and flowers. Did the nether have grass before the Wither was created?

I'm helping a friend with a Guardian Spawner project that involves some pretty heavy duty terraforming of the area around an ocean monument. Sometimes when I'm working in there I swear the prismarine blocks look more green than blue, and it's good to know that there's a reason behind that.
I remember when the update came out that brought prismarine and after looking at it for a bit I noticed it was changing colours and I was like “holy shit the block changes”

to me it seemed like the skull was wearing Steve's head as a little hat .. which defently made it creepier for me

I remember using temple of notch seeds back in my pocket edition days and seeing the info_update blocks, I never knew what they were.
One thing I wanted to point out that I thought of when you talked about the blue ice emitting light in the bedrock version of minecraft is that the brown mushroom emits a light level of 1 in java minecraft. I'm not sure whether this is the same in bedrock but it seems super weird to me as red mushrooms do not emit any light and mushrooms in real life don't emit light. The only reason I learned about this is that it is an integral part of a super efficient swamp based slime farm in newer versions of minecraft where mobs other than slimes only spawn at a light level of 0, so using a light level of 1 allows only slimes to spawn in a swamp area.
Theory: The hieroglyphs are connected to rugs sold by ikea and target.

I was very confused as to what color prismarine was. I finally know why.
I was so confused when either I saw it change color or I'm just going downhill
I came across a village in the swamp biome that had villagers wearing there swamp biome variations which was cool, but i have never seen a jungle village. The village was not changed from a standard plains village but now with the wild update coming out maybe we will get new types of villages!
The wet sponge furnace is not the only smelting recipe that results in two by-products -- there's also the lava bucket, once it smelts 100 items (I think).
Jungle and Swamp villagers aren't unused, if two Villagers breed in either of these biomes their baby will be the respective type. They're more easter egg villagers than anything
People need to make their own villages I'd love to see what people design as a default for their villiages
you can find them naturally if a village spawns next to those biomes i saw a swamp villager once in a plains village that spawned next to a swamp
You could get the villigars if you can cure a zombie villigar in a swamp or jungle
I think they exist in bedrock edition, or my switch is just out of whack...

I'm a bedrock player, and it's pretty easy to find the update block. Create a flat world, set yourself in creative, fly out a few million blocks, and then the floor will change to the update blocks
The deadmau skin was one of the coolest things back on the day. As far as I can remember it was the only skin that had sticking out features on it
Jungle and swamp villagers aren’t unused. You can still get them by breeding villagers in those biomes. The purpose of those outfits are just for completionists to collect as mentioned by Mojang themselves in one of their Village and Pillage videos on their TH-cam channel.

5:53 on the topic of the Jungle and Swamp villages being unused, when Grian tried making his own Swamp and Jungle villages he realized the Illagers struggle with pathfinding in those biomes, which is likely why they were removed or never added.
Pixlriffs had the same problem when he built his own custom village in one of those biomes!

17:30 so due to a glitch on my family's realm, I had lost everything in my inventory so they decided to give it back to me, one of these was a potion. When they tried to give me back my potions they instead appeared as Uncraftable Potion. They are now hang above my bed on the realm.
Fun fact about the prismarine animation: in the legacy console version of Minecraft, there was a Plastic texture pack available for purchase. In that texture pack, the animation is much more pronounced, constantly flipping between green, blue, and purple hues once about every 15 seconds.
so a cool thing with the wet sponge trick is that you can make an infinite water source from one source block, a sponge, a furnace, and fuel.

To answer the question at (19:34) In order to make use of the luck potion and it's effect, you have to generate custom loot tables that actually are properly constructed to make use of it. Some mods do, but in a vanilla experience I can only think of is Vechs on his custom super hostile server.

The jungle and swamp villager skins where actually something mojang added to encourage players to build their own villages.
Jungle and Swamp Villagers can actually also be seen by taking two normal villagers and breeding them on one of the two places. We used that on our server to create a custom village with unique villager sprites!
