Missed the ride at Glentress and Inners this year due to lockdown. It has been an annual pilgrimage in February (half-term) for a good number of years. Stop to ride Whinlatter or Ae forest on journey up. Spend following day at Glentress then finish on morning of final day with Inners. Magic👍
I had to go to Peebles for work about 10 years ago and having checked the map - I was about 100 yards from Glentress entrance (just up a different drive). Needless to say, the mountain bike went in the car. Worked till about 1pm, drove to bottom carpark, cycled to top, did a lap, back to carpark; had cake and tea, then drove back to Kent. Went back six months later for a long weekend when we did Glentress and Innerleithen. Fantastic, and ever so slightly jealous
I was down that way myself on Sunday, doing the Snow Hare 200km audax. Watching your videos I am very much tempted to get a mountain bike and head for the trails!
I’m loving the diversity on TH-cam these days. Watching a beginner mountain biker going steady on a blue/red trail is just as entertaining as a pro freerider dropping off a cliff
Big 👍👍's up for some great vlogging riding through the forest of Glentress....to be riding in snow in May a bonus too...watching as I also watch the riders on Quest having a pleasant ride in the Giro d Italia..!!!🙃
Enjoyed your video. I ride at Glentress often but not been back yet since lockdown, so keen to get back soon. Innerleithen just along the road is great too. Hard slog up but brilliant down. 🙂
Love GT. Go down to the Valley to ride most weekends and I have a lot of friends down there. The riding is pretty awesome and the town is just set up for bikers. Glad you enjoyed it!
Ohh the thumbnail looks marvellous! This did manage to bring me some inner peace somehow, much needed in fact; the snowy, Christmas-like atmosphere may have played a part ⛄😄 Looking forward to seeing part 2, in the meantime have a nice, cosy time in mesmerising Scotland 🏴
I had a weekend at Innerleithen and glenntress about 12 years ago, it was such a lovely place to ride, it brought back a few good memories, hope you had a great time 😊
Fabulous video. Love the drone footage.good riding too. Also, that initial brake fluid looked clean with not a lot of air, whoever did that was good hahahaha😜😜😜
Great video with lovely scenery! Glentress is an amazing trail center, would love to go back there some day. Road riding is a walk in the park compared to MTB and it's much more fun :-)
Been up it twice, once in two foot of snow, which was great fun, and the second time I ended up in borders hospital with a separated shoulder. Stuck to the road after that! 😂
Having the fitness to enjoy the ride up to Spooky Woods is a bonus. Riding down it with confidence , even if it just means rolling over the features is a blast --- the surface for you looked a little soft on the day so not the best situation. However, riding down it always pumps your arms and quads even though you are hardly pedalling, that down hill stuff is surprisingly physical. When you come out on ti the escape road at the end it is impossible not to be beaming. Now be honest, how did you cope with the tight switchbacks on the climb up to it? they are uphill and a tad technical no?
Love your videos, top quality work with both information and great entertainment. Why hydraulic brakes over cable? Are they That much better? and do they have catastrophic failures on the trails? If you couldn't tell; I've never had hydro's.
bad weather somehow does not bother me as much mountain biking ..looks like quite a lovely place to stay ,anywhere outdoors is never a bad day in the office ii guess...
Love your mtb videos. I’ve only been Glentress once but it didn’t end well. Although did get some KOMs albeit in the back of an ambulance. Came off on magic mushroom and fractured my shoulder blade. 💥😪
@@KatieKookaburra most pain I’ve ever felt. Do I still ride, of course I do. Collar bone fracture at bike park Wales. You so need to ride there by the way. As for the name of my channel. There’s a nice video and photos to explain how and why that came about.
The only time I saw your feathers ruffled and mad, when those teenagers were chasing you on your way home from the store at night, you were dropping some serious F bombs.🤣
Went to Glentress about six years ago. Me, my daughter and son-in-law spent about 5 full days doing the trails. It was brilliant, it was just after Chrimbo. We went for a massive curry in Peebles on New Years Eve. The river was in spate and looked intimidatingly huge. My dog rolled in a dead seagull and stunk the house out. I'd go back in a heart beat. Happy days.
That was cracking !!! Burping brakes and tubeless plugs are standard stuff and good to see you giving it a go.... When will you be getting a nice full suspension bike then ???
Brilliant video! I’m watching this on my iPhone in the car after finishing a 50 km ride with my mates ... perfect. “Riding like C-3PO” ... that’s too funny! 🚴👍😀
Snow in Late May by Peter Kane Dufault Some of the drifts are white lilacs strewn on the ground where branches broke under weight of the snow. For, now that there are flowers and leaves to hold it, the untimely stuff comes in tons and kilos, with even the maples marytrs to their own vigor, foot-thick leaders in heaps where they crashed. Thus there's good reason, then, why the leaves wither and blow off before snow flies . . . . Even so, thay may come back too early. Nothing, it seems, though every cell's known for a billion years what it has to know, is certain of anything, and the turning world tumbles us nightly on a slow wheel in a glittering casino.

Katie! You are so inspiring. Been biking 10 miles for 4 months now daily. And thinking about starting my long distance journey.
Wow amazing views and filming.. looks a great place to visit
Awesome, love seeing your MTB videos. Glentress is one of many, great work !
Drone footage beautiful...:-)
Gisburn forest..for those without cars. Trains to long Preston. And a steady 6 mile Rd up to forest.

Thank you! Well got to give Chris credit for the drone footage. He’s a bloody BOSS at it!
Nice to see some MTB love, cycling is great to experience in all it's aspects, that scenery is beautiful!
The snow looked beautiful - watching with my warm PJs and dressing gown 😋
Love your videos and energy so much!
You inspire me to ride more!

Great vid Katie
More like being on the trails of Scandinavia ! Half expected a glimpse of the Northern lights, from the pod !
I did peek out around 1am - just loads and loads of stars.
Very picturesque, nice to enjoy the trails whilst it's quiet, and handy bike maintenance too. What a good chap Chris is.😁
Cheers Kevin! Let’s get a petition to get him on TH-cam!!
@@KatieKookaburra especially if he gets drone footage like that.👌
My first shot on a mountain bike was at Glentress - Spesh Rockhopper in 1988. It's changed a bit since then. 😁

this place seems amazing. thanks.
Good Morning from New Zealand, Great Glentress Video, I enjoyed it very much, Have a great week
Great video. Making me colder watching it

If you couldn't tell; I've never had hydro's.
I took my mate to glentress when he was hanging. This was about 3 years ago and he still complains about the climb to the top!
Haha it was a lot tougher than I thought. The GoPro wasn’t on for when I was swearing at how windy it is getting up there!

Supper job looks like a beautiful spot 🍀

Scotland is beautiful
Fair Play Katie 👍👍👍
What a Bostin place looked absolutely fantastic apart from the turd in ya tyre 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh my god snow!!! We rode 100k this AM on the west coast of Florida with 100 degree heat index ,I don't know how you do it and you are so cheerful. 🤪
How do you ride in 100F?!!!! I would be grumpy in that heat!! Ha

Katie, your editing top notch as usual.
Ahhh thank you!!!! :)
Absolutely love that place 👍😀
My poor mountain bike doesn't get much love these days as I'm a roadie, but I really need to get back to Glentress, it's a wonderful place.
plugging tires is something I'd never heard of until my grampa told me about them...I drove on lots of plugged auto tires after that!
Slug plugs haha I've never heard that name before i call them licorice sticks.
The weather in Scotland always looks so bad! Love all the camera shots though!
You inspire me! Love from London
Ahh thank you!!! Well I’m a proper noob still at this so if I can give it a go you defo can :)
Next time do the black route up to the mast
Snow? 😮. Now i see the advantage of mechanical brakes. Nothing wrong with a wire.
Chris the iron man !!!
Who is the music by
So what does it take to get Chris in a jacket? Biking the arctic?

Hey Katie ! New Sub. Just wondering what camera and editing editing software you use for your vlogs 🙌🏽
Heyyyy, and welcome :) I use Sony A7III and Gopro 9 with Final Cut Pro x :)
@@KatieKookaburra 🙌🏽 THANK YOU
Nice RAB beanie hat!
Cool I’m 7 miles from there /amazed you have never had a puncture
Bob, you’re a lucky man! Get yourself there :)
@@KatieKookaburra yes I was go into ,with my nephew,I’m in Dalkeith, and i was planning on cycling to Peebles as one of my first longer cycles
I’d be interested to know what the guy wears when temperatures nudge 20°c
Short sleeve attire ??? that guy must have been a Postie in another life.
Well done wow what a beautiful place . U do go the best places skinny k x
I get cold just watching your friend there with only a t-shirt.. brrr
He’s called The Bear so he can handle it.
I love the hat Kate where did you get that from?

If you like uphill driving, try a steep gravel road on a mountainbike!
Could you do that on a gravel bike??... I’m thinking I’d like front suspension
I defo couldn’t!
Three words I didn't think we would ever here you say to a man "can you explain". Hope you're nice to him because he seems like a great companion.

great vid and love your Chanel ,BUT seriously I can't believe you didn't show a decent shot of the tool box. Its a tradie thing.
Northerner like you should be in a t shirt.... it’s only snowing
That's Scotland. Everyone below the border is a soft southerner
