- I am a young newb in the land of Selvage Denim. So this is my first jacket. I did some digging and found out the Brave Stare Selvage Ironside Golden Handshake is made from Cone Denim. This is NOS materials left over after the iconic White Oaks Factory closed down in 2017. This is the same mill that made the Selvage Denim for the Iconic Levi 501 jeans.

What do you all think of my pink sweatshirt? Miss Hazel Fantastic wanted me to buy it.
I just bought and reviewed this jacket - Ironside Jacket 13.5oz 'Southern Cross'. I cannot be happier with it. Thank you for your reviews as they inspired me to pull the trigger on mine. Cheers!
@@AJMancaveHobbies I happy my rambling video helped our. And thanks for watching!
Great video Jeff!! I’ve got the Japanese Redline selvedge version and it’s killer, especially for the price. Good to see the Golden Handshake version in the wild; I almost got that one, so I’ll be really interested to see your progress reports. Love the vintage vibe that one carries.
Cheers and Happy New Year to you.
I’m already feeling the itch to pick up both the Japanese version and the Onyx black Sherpa line version of the jacket. Really loving this and I’m only on day two or three of wearing it. Hell I’ve got it on walk the dog right now and it’s pretty damn cold outside. But I couldn’t not wear the jacket.
How long have you had your Japanese selvage version? And how much where is it showing?
@@jeffgrantMEDIAI’ve had mine for about two months. I’ve been wearing it everyday and it still looks almost the same as when I first got it. Think it’s going to be a slow fader.
I’ve also got the Mojave Jacket 14.75oz Kaihara Japan Selvage Denim incoming from Brave Star; should be here this coming week. Thought that one looked really interesting.
Also recently received the Brave Star Sumo heavyweight hoodie; that thing is a beast!!
Really looking forward to your progress reports; don’t think I’ve seen what that model looks like faded so it will be cool to see its evolution.
@@damionberv5074 the Kaihara is pretty interesting. I like the strip down the back of the inside of the jacket. It’s a nice detail.
I’m going to try and hold myself to monthly shorts of the fade progress of my jacket. I should get some good wear going in the next few months.
@@jeffgrantMEDIAReally looking forward to your updates. In the interim, I’m considering ordering the Golden Handshake jacket; love the color of the denim - seems really vintage. BTW, is there a Cone Mills tag anywhere on the inside of the jacket?
@@damionberv5074 there is a tiny tag on the inside right front hem that reads “A Cone Denim Greensboro NC”
love bravestar, best prices, have a ton of their stuff. as always the most important thing anyone can do when getting into heritage gear is check the size charts, measure them against stuff you own that fits well.
Same size different different manufacturers very so vastly. You always need Tom heck that chart! Aftet only a week of wear, this this is molding to me just like a nice waxed jacket does.
Good call on sizing up. I got the 15oz jacket in XL which is my measurement size but the sleves ended up being way to tight on my forearms. Just ate $20 to ship it back today. Plan on getting a XXL in the golden handshake once i get my "exchange gift card".
The only place I think the medium would have been good would be the upper arms. But the e sleeve length and forearms are pretty good. If I went my normal size, I would also have been sending it back.
Dude you should definitely try the 25 oz iron heart selvege denim.👍💪😤
Working on a pair of 14oz IH sent me for review now. I would love to pick up a heavy weight later this year. The 14oz are certainly beefier than any other 14oz I have worn.
I really want the Japanese version but its sold out in my size, they said it will offer higher contrast fades who knows lol
I wonder if that will get re stocked. They can probably get more of that material made. The Cone Mills material is NOS and that will never be made again (well at least in NC).
@@jeffgrantMEDIA they told me no, all they have is heavyweight jacket for pre order in my size.
@@sjc83 damn! That sucks! I hope they get some new fabrics in then. I’m really digging my Golden Handshake. In would like to get some more offerings from them in the future.
I have the jeans coldenhandshake 14.0z for years beating, its a great jeans and it fades into a wonderfull blue your jacket will not be full of fades its a classic allmost clear sea fade wonderfull
@@antoniobranco8005 I am getting entering the redline rally in June. I’ll be entering a 22oz Brave Star Gauntlet for that. I am hoping to get some killer fades out of that jacket.
I have a lot of Brave Star stuff and I've honestly never seen that particular tag (foreign materials)before. Weird.
According to BS, it’s because the Japanese denim and some other parts of the jackets are sourced from over seas.
Запах Denim просто Best 😂
As long as it isn't wet!
February? I'd get maybe a month to wear the jacket. I guess if i ever do the Indigo invitational it'll have to be jeans.
I’ll do my real user review in February. That will be a little more than a month to wear the jacket.
I plan on doing shorts through the year to update in wear. Then shoot a long term review next December 29 and see how it wore for a year.
Edit: I just realized you were referring the red line starting in February. Which seems odd to me as well. It should start tomorrow with the indigo invitational.
