    "Then I got a good night sleep and an early morning start and a full days work and then I changed and came here and got high again"
    "Goddamn it"
    Best line ever, I die laughing every time.

    Jane Fonda again manages to pull-off the impossible: to act/appear drunk/high yet still manage to be funny and make sense all without crossing the line and lapsing into schtick. SO difficult to do, that glimmer in her eyes throughout the scene is just under too much and yet still the exact amount of just right. A real high wire acting job and perfectly executed. "You wanna split a pizza?" Genius.

    God if only Jane had been a main cast member. Without a doubt the best character. She filled so many roles in the series without changing her characters core. In Season 1, she was the antagonist, in Season 2 she was the force that turned the tables, and in the final season she worked tirelessly to save ACN so that News Night could remain the very show that she initially tried to stop.

    Jane Fonda may be the greatest person of the twentieth/twentyfirst century. Massive land owner who is returning it to natural state, environmentalist, and she has spent the last thirty years educating young leaders, battling wokeism, and overcoming foolishness by accepting reality whilst always trying to make it better. Everyone should aspire to her level.

    What I love about this scene is the random but insightful comments that she made regarding Queen Elizabeth's unwillingness to step down and allow Prince Charles to be crowned King which ties in with her willingness to test Reese's "ability to lead" while criticizing Charlie's attitude towards him in the past. Great writing and acting shines on the screen. Love it!

    It's rare that Charlie lies but he was not relieved to hear Leon's response, he was sad. He wanted to work with her to make it better. Him running into the waiter told us he was distracted and not relaxed. 😊

    Something subtle about this scene: Throughout the episode they are trying to figure out who tweeted the picture of Charlie and Lisa, because no one in the party is supposed to have access to social media. Leona and Rebecca obviously have twitter.

    • @Gabryal77
      @Gabryal77 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      they didn't necessarily have twitter at the party, it happened before they party and they were talking about it while smoking a joint, which I wish I could have been a part of.

    Why does Aaron Sorkin keep refering to the Queen as Elizabeth Windsor? Is it just to show off that he knows that she technically has a surname? Atleast this time he didn't refer to her as Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth Windsor, which really isn't what you call the queen.

    • @cyclonegrizzly7801
      @cyclonegrizzly7801 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +gwilym1991 Her real name is Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and it was changed in 1917 to combat anti-German sentiments

      If it was changed in 1917, it isn't her real name.

      She's the Queen. When you're the king or queen, your name can be whatever you desire it to be. And that's why Elizabeth's father Prince Albert chose the name George VI when he assumed the throne.

    • @ferrer65
      @ferrer65 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      King George VI did not change his name. He was born Albert Frederick Arthur George and chose to be crowned as George VI.

      ***** She rode on a North Vietnamese tank while laughing with a few Vietcong soldiers and tried to convince a few American POWs to apologize "for invading a sovereign country and killing innocent people!" As I said, words from an ignorant youth who didn't trust our military and political leaders "who dragged American youths into a war that they didn't want to fight in the first place!" Can't we just say that EVERYBODY screwed up and call it a lesson in NOT favoring passion over reason? End of sermon.

    • @DavidTSmith-jn5bs
      @DavidTSmith-jn5bs 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Read what I said again. She thought the US didn't belong there, they were attacking a sovereign country and killing innocent lives, and she was being naïve and ignorant by not expressing knowledge that it was really a UN peacekeeping mission requested by the French nationals who occupied the country before they were kicked out by the understandably pissed off natives! I was just trying to explain why so called military "experts" of the era are STILL ticked off at "Hanoi Jane" and that they should "get over it" because she later apologized and admitted that she was acting out of ignorance instead of patriotism and compassion! If my explanation wasn't sufficient for you, then you should research this subject on your own. There are many smarter people than I who have done their homework on this horrible series of events. Good hunting and good reading.

    • @DavidTSmith-jn5bs
      @DavidTSmith-jn5bs 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Your "question" had nothing to do with what I said, which is why I suggested that you read my response again. I guess you decided not to do that and accuse me of being "thin skinned" instead. Hey, it's a free country...

    • @DavidTSmith-jn5bs
      @DavidTSmith-jn5bs 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** I wasn't being literal when I said "It's a free country!" I meant that you're free to misunderstand what I said and write it off as "dense" if you want. I'm getting tired of having to "explain" what I've just said. If you didn't "get it," then fine. Don't get it, find your own goddamn answers and leave me alone!
