No, I hate them and will never use one. This is supposed to be futuristic, for the time it was made. Not a substituted for an opera singer, metal screamer, or theater organ. Most famous players wanted that, and that's why/how you get haters like me.
I've heard Milt Hearth and some non-Leslie players. It's interesting how the early days were. Sounded like a real pipe organ or early synth. You could still get the nasty, wobbly, theater organ sounds (just not the same without a Leslie). No opera shit or metal/hard rock. Also, when the Leslie (effect) is off (on stop), it can be played cleanly, and sound the same as any PR cabinet. Think outside the fine arts and heavy metal box.
Of course, when testing the percussion you MUST play staccato because the percussion circuit needs a fresh attack in order to sound. If you try it legato... you will NOT hear anything at all after the first few notes.
Hi Sebastian Music, if you're interested in purchasing any of our fine Hammond Organs, you can look under the 'inventory' tab on our website to see what we have in stock at keyboardexchange.com/ If you would like to call us in the store, we can also discuss all special deals going on, like our end of the year clearance sale on all our inventory currently set up in our showroom at (407) 323-7493. We have made a video specifically talking about this, and is the featured video on our homepage of TH-cam.
This video was made quite a while ago. I hope to be playing more soon as new upcoming videos will be a bit more rock and roll centered. There will also be a bit of fictional time travel involved so please stay tuned!
Wow! Jim you play beautifully!!
This is a very informative video. Although it was made 12 years ago, it's still relevant today.
This is quite a valuable instructional video.
Great information, Jim!!!
Glad you think so!
