      I’ve stopped using it full stop, horrible stuff. The only acceptable place to use it would be on the “ears” of the pads, even then there is special brake grease to use instead. Cars come from the factory with no grease on the pads and if you ever read the instructions with pads it says don’t use grease or only use special brake grease.

      @@thisispointless29 Copper isnt good on modern cars because in interfears with the ABS system. Other good stuff is Ceramic paste on the Back of the pad and nothing on the ears.

  • @frozenpete788
    @frozenpete788 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Quick tips for those who want to do the same: if you have Abs, try to not empty the system, if you don't have an eezybleed or something to pressurize the system. It sometimes can be a pain if the abs module gets air. Otherwise when bleeding with the pedal, try to not go all the way down with the pedal. Crap in the master cylinder could damage the seals.
    And for the rear disc brakes with the baby drums for handbrake. Don't forget to release the tension at the cables on the lever itself before adjusting the shoes. I adjust mines until they rub just a little bit, and then I tighten the 2 nuts inside. Degrease new rotors, copper grease on the sliding contact points but don't put the entire tube on. Just a tiny bit is enough. Cheers

    This is honestly top-teir automotive TH-cam content, I enjoy watching your videos so much more than all the big channels like Hoonigan or Boosted Boys. I appreciate the level of work that goes into each video you do, the passion, and the degree of quality that you have to ensure everything is done right. Probably should have mentioned the importance of fully flushing the whole brake system because of the dirty and super old fluid in the reservoir and lines themselves, Not just checking for air bubbles, but also the color of the brake fluid until you can see the new fluid coming out at the bleed line. Hope You did that.

    Always use ceramic or copper paste when you mount the brake pads. Apply it on the glide path after you cleaned these with a file. Otherwise your brakepads will rust and get stucked quickly. Dont assemble the brake cylinder dry, wetten the brake cylinder and the sealing with some brake fluid so you wont damage the sealing.

    Another video that you knocked out of the park, Memphis. Well done. While you were doing the brakes would have been a good time to repack the wheel bearings, assuming they can be lubricated. Lucky you to have single piston floating calipers. Greta, like my Arthur, has 4 piston front calipers, 2 on each of the sides of the split system. I have heard the Volvo front brakes are either Gerling or Brembo. Some people say the one, some say the other. The last time my brakes were done it took 16 litres of brake fluid to flush the system.

    Memphis great job!
    But I have some tips for you.
    1. Regrease the pins that caliper is moving on it. They need to move in rubber boot freely.
    2. I'm not sure that you can take together piston and brake caliper without any lubrication. Should be assembled with e.g. brake oil as minimum.
    This two tips prevent from bending the disc, which usually is caused by stuck calipers or cylinders in brake.
    I've got many problems with brakes in my e39 so please not ask me how I learned this tricks :D
