Think of Derek like attack on titan, his mutation is an inspiration of extra cellular matrices while attack on titan is based on yeast and spina fluid! They don't have to eat to fuel the visual cause it's a matter of the virus being in a resting state to recharge and he can just do as he please! Sometimes he would have to consume cause he over works himself which is a part of why he was eating zombies to. The main reason is simply because he wanted to be bigger and thus turned into a giant fly but as a fly he can't just turn back and transform again, that form wasn't directly apart or him! Even so I'd drink his blood to have those powers🤓🔬🧪

That if the truth was revealed, it would have caused a complete collapse of American society. People think he's just evil for nothing, but I can see why. It was out of paranoia and the external threat that would have hit the US if the truth got out.
Maybe a lot of players loved it but for me those were one of the worst designs a boss had. A T Rex and a Fly? They couldve really used better designs but the game was still a banger.
