At least Islam had the decency of excluding the Hebrew Bible from the Quran, claimed the Hebrew Bible was corrupted, and then base Islam’s claim from scratch on a Hebrew Bible that doesn’t exist.
While that’s still a disingenuous tactic, at least Islam doesn’t insult Muslims’ intelligence by requiring them to actually be stupid and not believe the first half of their Holy Book in order for the second half to make sense, which Christianity has to do since it didn’t exclude the Hebrew Bible.
That’s not to say the Quran is true, it’s just less false than the New Testament. 😂 The Quran still imported errors from the New Testament, just not all of them.

Rabbi, I was studying with 2 friends, one a Jew, the other a Christian, and myself who is a new Noahide. The purpose for study was at the request of the Christian for old testament study, but immediately a problem arose, because he brought a Dakes Study Bible (I'd never heard of it), and we hadn't got past Genesis 1:1 before he started with second earth because Lucifer corrupted 1st earth or something, and my Jewish friend and I couldn't figure out where he got that out of the space between verse 1 and 2, until he said "preterist" theology, and I looked it up. We had to stop, and agree that we weren't going to study anything outside of the Tenach. It was extremely difficult to get him to let go of his study Bible, but once we showed him the language of the Tenach, and that it has NOT changed in time, whereas the Christian Bible has over 100 translations (not language translations, but content), he finally agreed. I thought about it, and it's true, as a child, born into a Christian family, you're told the old testament is just a history book, and isn't important, and the new testament is paramount, with old testament used only to bolster the new. My Jewish friend said later that we need to be gentle so as not to "rip the bandage" to forcefully, hurting our Christian friend, but take show the truth a tiny spoonful at a time. What do you find? Are most Christians led kicking to the truth, or like me, when we find a Crack in what we were taught, eagerly search out the truth and immediately effect the change? I was one of those who literally RAN for the exit of the Church after reading the real Tenach, thanks to my friend and your videos! THANK YOU RABBI!

As a Catholic that was at one point Evangelical Protestant, I understand why Rabbi Tovia is speaking about the analogy with Catholicism yet I believe that God showed me that the fullness of the truth is in Catholicism. There is a lot of points in the Bible that can be used to explain the difficulties of Catholicism. I guess the best way to learn what is the truth is simply to ask God to reveal us the truth. Here is the kind of prayer I like to do: « Please God show me all the truth and show me where I am wrong. » God bless you all on your spiritual journey.

Every thing Rabbi Singer is highlighting is 100% first principles thinking. When with my Roman Catholic background I started being curious about Judaism, I knew I did not know enough. It started back in 2016 when I discovered the origin of my 2 first names were Hebrew, for me they were Christian that’s it. In Hebrew it brought a whole different meaning to my essence and from them I started to open my mind to the why and how of Hebrew letters, Kabbalah and rabbis (one of them being Rabbi Manis Friedman) and people who are willing to share insights about Judaism. It takes courage and not willing to be right to start that spiritual expansion. The fundamentals first, and here Judaism.

Jesus came to save the sinner not to condemn him
      What does John 3:17 mean?
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Verse 17 is a peaceful footnote to John 3:16. Jesus came for the purpose of saving people, not condemning them. Verse 18 explains that this is because those who do not believe are "condemned already." According to the Bible, God doesn't want to see anyone destroyed (Ezekiel 18:23-32). Rather, He would prefer that everyone be saved (2 Peter 3:9; 1 Timothy 2:4). However, He will give us the dignity of our choices.
This salvation is offered to "the world," a phrase this verse uses three times. This is from the Greek word kosmos, which sometimes refers to the God-hating system of human society. In this context, however, it means "all people." The meanings overlap in this case, since the people Christ died for were-and are-sinners who are separated from Him (Romans 5:12).
This verse also reiterates the idea that salvation is through Christ-and nothing else. The offer of salvation is for everyone, but only those who accept it will actually be saved.
      Context Summary
John 3:16-21 begins with the most easily recognized portion of any holy book on Earth: John 3:16. This is a one-sentence summary of the entire gospel. Still, the verses which follow are just as critical for understanding the Christian message. Christ wasn’t sent to judge the world, but to bring salvation. This is an expression of God’s incredible love. However, those who do not believe in Jesus Christ are condemned in the eyes of God. Human preference for sin causes many to choose darkness over the Light.
      Chapter Summary
John chapter 3 is one of the most important in the entire gospel. Many crucial ideas are explained in this passage, including the role of Jesus as Savior. After the loud, public commotion at the temple, John transitions to a quiet, nighttime discussion. These verses make it clear that Christ-and Christ alone-is the means of salvation for the entire world. This text also states that those who reject Jesus are rejecting God.

so by the time i read the fist two gospels and the book of Mormon i though these text are not in harmony with the original writings so by the time i was 22 i completely rejected the Christian claim. i had a faith crisis then five years ago bought a Tanakh and started to read it again

@@McBigFisher no, it was properly interpreted from the Old Testament, where it doesn’t specify that only Jews can be saved or repent. The language in the Torah isn’t specific about who can and can’t repent, and says any Person can repent (eze 18). The term noahide could have been applied in a new way in modern times, but in truth the knowledge always existed, we as people simply had to realize it was right in front of our eyes. If we are measuring a faith based on its fruits, Christianity will always lose. Jews have learned over time, just like all human beings.
The fact that Christians have 2 measuring sticks, 1 for the mythology of Jesus, and the fruits of Christianity, and then a completely different and basically hypocritical stick to measure the truth of Torah and fruits of Jewish culture and faith. It’s intellectually disingenuous at best, and at worse its outright lying. What is there to gain from being that gullible?
To me that proves christianity is fiction meant to indoctrinate illiterate plebs of any society, so the king/empire can use there wicked idolatry to justify their wars by disguising it as Divinity to the masses. Antisemitism wouldn’t exist and the Holocaust wouldn’t have happened if Christianity didn’t exist. End of story.

@@mikemorgan3891You might want to listen to the video and what is clearly being pointed out. When you understand the Tanakh...by reading it with open eyes and ears, you'll see the truth. There's no possible way that Jesus is the Messiah. Christian's read him into the Hebrew texts and even go so far as believing mistranslations rather than the true Hebrew text. Truth is a hard pill to swallow because it changes everything. I know this for a fact because I was a Christian until I honestly started asking questions and wouldn't accept anything but the truth. Then, I started at the beginning in Genesis as well as studied "Church history"....then, it happened. The lights came on and I was faced with a choice... do I choose the truth or do I stay with the false (warm and fuzzy) narrative that all my friends and family believe in and blindly follow just as I had for over 50 years? I knew I could possibly lose everything and everyone that I held dear to me. Truth was more important than reputation and false relationships. Those that truly love me will always love me but those that don't will fall away. Nearly everyone and everything fell away once the word was out that I was no longer a Christian. What's amazing though is that it was the biggest blessing ever and I've been blessed 10 fold ever since. Truth is truly priceless and a huge blessing that is overflowing. It's also cleansing of the mind and soul. I don't subscribe to everything Toby Singer says because he's religious and attached to a religion and I believe that all religions are man-made. We have however been given guidelines to live by and guard and, there are blessings that come from listening to the words that came directly from the Creator Almighty's mouth into the ears of his people. Those blessings are for all mankind that choose to listen. ❤

Now that it's Football Season in America, I feel the SAME heavy, oppressive, depression I felt in CHURCH as a child if I wasn't as "SAVED" as much as another child, if I wasn't Performing Kundalini type Worship as fervently, if I asked questions about my Father's side of the Jewish family and Judaism when I returned from visiting them. You are deemed like a Communist or Eeyore or a Stuck In The Mud or EVIL if you don't worship Jesus/Football. Church/Football totally go together, same fervor, religiosity, "I'm the Bigger Fan/ More Saved" attitude. I really don't think that the Religiosity of Football would be possible without Jesus/The Church. People LIVE for Football Season, know the stats of football, many jokes in church are made about Football conflicting with Sunday services. Luckily, the Jets ALWAYS lost, but even if they hadn't, I don't think that my Jewish Grandpa would have EVER worn an Idolatrous FOOTBALL JERSEY.

A] The Jewish mashiach will be a PATERNAL descendant of David (Isaiah 11 verse 1&10, Jeremiah 33 verse 15-18, Ezekiel 34 verses 23&24, Ezekiel 37 verse 24&25, Amos 9 verses 11&12, Hoseah 3 verse 5, 2Samuel 7 verse 16, Psalms 89 verses 4&5, Psalm 89 verses 34-38, Psalms 18 verse 51, Jeremiah 33 verses 20-26). *Genealogy in the Bible is only passed down from father to son, Numbers 1:1-18.* Not having a biological father from the direct family tree (isaiah 11:1) back to David and Jesse, disqualifies a person from any claim to the Jewish mashiach.
B] the mashiach of hebrew scriptures brings the Jewish people from all over the world-wide exiles back to the land of israel (isaiah 11 verses 11&12, ezekiel 37 verses 24&25, deuteronomy 30 verse 3, jeremiah 30 verse 3, jeremiah 32 verse 37, ezekiel 11 verse 17, ezekiel 36 verse 24). In the time of jesus the jews were in the land, he did not help them conquer their enemies as mashiach is supposed to (numbers 24 verses 17-19) and were exiled from israel shortly after, the total opposite of what the prophets revealed the true mashiach will do.
C] the mashiach of hebrew scriptures ushers in a utopian world of peace, where there will no longer be any wars (Zechariah 9 verse 10 [ps. Note, verse 10 is a direct continuation of verse 9 which christians claim was already fulfilled...yet he didn't fulfill the verse that it goes right into, verse 10?...], Isaiah 2 verses 1-4, Micha 4 verses 1-4, Hoseah 2 verse 20, Isaiah 60 verse 18). jesus did not bring world peace, the opposite is true, how much unnecessary loss came through the crusades and the likes all in the name of jesus.
D] the mashiach of hebrew scripture brings the entire jewish nation back to full observance of the Torah (Ezekiel 37 verse 24, all the same time periods of Ezekiel 11 verses 19&20, ezekiel 36 verses 26&27, Deut 30 verses 8&10, Jeremiah 31 verse 32). jesus in the NT disobeys the temple authorities in violation of Deut 17 verses 10-13, he and his men pluck wheat stalks on the shabbat day, a violation of shabbat (numbers 15 verses 32-36), he claims that divorce isn't allowed and that it is forbidden to marry after divorce, while the torah says otherwise, thus adding and/or subtracting from the Torah's laws (Deut 4:2, deut 13:1), he gives prophecies that didn't come true, such as "not one stone of this temple will be left ontop of another" and yet the western outer wall stands tall and deep into the temple mount till today [and yes theres archeological proof that it is infact the western outer wall of the temple], he said more than once "none of this generation shall taste death before you see the full kingdom come" did not happen, giving a failed prophecy according to the torah makes him a false prophet and viable to the D penalty (Deut 18 verses 20-22), and jesus def did not cause for Jewish people to embrace the torah, instead he caused a major rift and didn't observe the laws himself.
E] mashiach of Hebrew scripture emerges at a time where there is universal knowledge of God (Isaiah 11 verse 9, which is a parallel to chavakuk 2 verse 14, Zechariah 8 verses 20-23, zechariah 14 verse 9 & verse 16, Isaiah 66 verse 23, isaiah 45 verse 23, ezekiel 38 verse 23, zephanya 3:9). The amount of statues there are of jesus and mary, oh boy, how the negligence of one pompous man caused for a third of the worlds population into all diff forms of polytheism and idolatry...
F] mashiach of hebrew scripture reigns leader at a time when the 3rd ever lasting temple is standing forever (Ezekiel 37 verses 24-28 which is the same exact end of days temple of Isaiah 2, of zechariah 14 verses 20&21, of Malachi 3 verse 4, of Isaiah 56 verse 7, of Isaiah 60 verse 7, of Isaiah 66 verse 20) where the mashiach himself prepares flour and animal offerings at its inaguration (Ezekiel 45 verse 17, the same exact prince/נשיא of Ezekiel 37 verse 25).
The way God made sure no jew can ever make a claim of illegitimacy against a Jewish king was by commanding a prophet to anoint that king with the sacred anointing oil (exodus 30 verses 25-30) as He commanded Samuel to do to Saul (1samuel 10 verse 1), and to David (1samuel 16 verse 13), and as Tzadok the High priest and nathan the prophet did to King Solomon (1kings 1 verse 34). The mashiach is called "mashiach" (literally "anointed") because Elijah the prophet is supposed to anoint him with the sacred anointing oil as King over the Jewish people. God, who will split the ocean in order to convince when He wishes to convince, has NO PROBLEM making the jewish people believe someone is or isnt their next king, He did so for Saul, David, Solomon, the priests, all to remove any claim of illegitimacy by any jew. The Creator DID NOT DO SUCH for the christian man-diety, something so simple, and no. The jews did not "reject" jesus, the Creator did. That's the truth.

Before I came a Christian at age of 12. And since 2020 I left. My father brought me to church. I believe God spoke to me as I know He does now.
I said, "If Jesus is Jewish, why aren't we? " "If he is the messiah and we are to follow him, why aren't we Jewish?"
Since then I have done nothing but listened and got involved in the church. And since covid. I happen to come across a Messianic Christianity. "Jesus taught Torah and lived Torah. We should do the same, he's our example" ....WOW that makes sense.
After studying Torah for half a year I turned away from Paul and all the lies of the NT came tumbling down. God lead me out of Christianity through His Torah/instructions.
I asked Him who is this Jesus.... and showed me so much of the idolatry he is.

It is clear and explicit in the Torah that it is God's commandment, remaining forever without change, addition, or diminishment, as Deuteronomy 13:1 states: "All these matters which I command to you, you shall be careful to perform. You may not add to it or diminish from it," and Deuteronomy 29:28 states: "What is revealed is for us and our children forever, to carry out all the words of this Torah." This teaches that we are commanded to fulfill all the Torah's directives forever. It is also said: "It is an everlasting statute for all your generations," and Deuteronomy 30:12 states: "It is not in the heavens." This teaches that a prophet can no longer add a new precept to the Torah.

Seeing that the people did not serve the Lord when they had “plenty of everything,” they would wind up serving their enemies when being “devoid of all.” We read in Chagigah 9 that the words of Isaiah 48,10: “I have refined you, but not as silver, I test you in the furnace of poverty,” mean that G’d reviewed all the various positive attributes He could treat the Israelites with and found that only the attribute of poverty would be appropriate. The scholar Shmuel commented on this statement that this is the meaning of the popular saying: “poverty is as appropriate for the Jewish people as a red harness for a white horse.”

He had overheard a young child quote our verse in which G’d describes a nation being carried against the Jewish people from the end of the earth much like an eagle which swoops down out of the sky. He applied this verse to himself when he experienced such an extraordinarily fast journey in his campaign against Jerusalem. * Essentially translators use a common word, lord, in place of God’s name.
That can lead to confusion because the word lord can also mean a leader, master, husband and so on.
In life we can have common landlords. (Lord of some land.) Obviously landlords are not God or demi-gods.
      - As for Psalm 110:1 here is a translation which makes this more clear.
*”1 Of David a psalm. The word of the Lord to my master; "Wait for My right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool at your feet.”*
      * The second mention of lord is more accurately translated as master.
      The word “adon” is translated in Strong’s (a Christian translation source) as;
*”1) firm, strong, lord, master 1a) lord, master 1a1) reference to men 1a1a) superintendent of household, of affairs 1a1b) master 1a1c) king”*
      * Context is key. This “adon” is not about God or a demi-god. It is about a human master.

      * The price for your salvation formula is too high which is why I gave up Christianity long ago and I am never going back.
      - The Gospel of John and Revelation have the concept of non-Christians being tortured for eternity in the afterlife.

      - My mother was a Jewish convert and she recently died. According to John, my mother is being tortured in the afterlife for all time.
      - That also means the Jewish victims of the Holocaust, who did not believe in the Nicene Creed Jesus, are burning in the afterlife for all time.
Fundamentalist Christianity has the majority of people (who have died) since the death of Jesus in eternal torment.
      * My career has been based on compassion. I have had clients who were tortured for years by family. I have seen the effects of torture.

The Lord was absolutely clear about the first commandment about there being one Lord, over and over again for thousands of years. If he expects people to believe in Trinity or Jesus being God, it is entirely reasonable that he would have been just as explicit about spelling that out too. Its just is not there. The Lord was always clear about pure monotheism

I will say to my 1/2 Jewish side & 1/2 Christian side that I personally have no upbringing in either, only parents from both & they weren't practicing their religion. It was when I read the 1968 Holy Bible Red Letter edition, after reading every other version the last 8 yrs, that I was shown the truth, alone in my bed every single morning while recovering from surgeries. The LORD above showed me how the The New Living Translation Bible with it's little font-type of references to refer to, indicating where things were added or removed - ALL only in the New Testament oddly enough, was I given that circumcised heart of repentance that we're to have & come back to the one & only God above. Whether it's through Noah, Moses, Mohammed or Jesus, we just want & need our Creator to have control of our lives. Let's stop trying to prove who's God is right if we believe in God at all. To even attempt to argue the New Testament is what matters & never even giving the Old Testament a chance is not giving God a chance. I apologize for spelling out words to my Jewish family, it's all I know being raised in the U.S. All of you please know, anti-Semitism, bigotry on both sides has been extremely painful for me to go through. The hate has to stop. Christian's have to stop trying to make people believe with a book of lies, insisting if Jesus isn't God that it's a waste of time to read the Bible just as much as Jews or others need to insist on their books or nothing as well. I truly believe we'll miss out on the LORD doing that for us & it's truly an experience worth trying. And there's no hell we'll end up in by asking HaShem for the truth & protection in the process. I'm here for any support to those who are challenged to do so. 'cause to get your faith rocked can be scary.

@Aldarionz9 The One True Creator G_d gave specific details to the Hebrew prophets about when the Real Messiach comes. No One! Especially the so-called "Jesus" has fulfilled any of them yet!
      1. When the Real Messiach comes, he will be a normal man from the line of David through Solomon and will sit on the throne of David and rule from there forever.
      *Obviously, that hasn't happened yet!
      2. When the Real Messiach, it will be at the End of Days.
      * Obviously, back then was not the End of Days!
      3. When the Real Messiach comes, the Temple will be rebuilt never to be destroyed again, and The Messiach will start the animal sacrifices in the Temple again.
      * The opposite happened back then! The very fact that the Temple isn't standing proves that the so-called "Jesus" is Not The Messiach!
      4. When the Real Messiach comes, Everyone around the world (including atheist) will know that he is The Messiach!
      * We KNOW that the so-called "Jesus" is Not The Messiach!
      5. When the Real Messiach comes, death will cease to exist.
      * Obviously, that hasn't happened yet either because so many people are still getting sick and dying.
      6. When the Real Messiach comes, there will be World Peace and weapons of war will be rebuilt into farming implements.
      * We're still waiting for that one!!!
      7. When the Real Messiach comes, Everyone around the world, from every language will grab the Jews and say "Now we know that we have inherited only lies and G_d has been with you Jews all along. Please 🙏 take us with you!"
      * We're still waiting for that one, too!!!
No where in the Torah/Tanach does it ever say that the Messiach will keep failing and have to come back again and again. According to Christianity, the so-called "Jesus" already came back a second time, but he still never fulfilled any of those Prophecies about the Real Messiach. So now Christians are waiting for a third coming. Christianity strikes out again!

The Bible as a whole is a book that contains many sorrows and disappointments and this is reflective of the despair in the world at all times .
If joy is to be found it must be in the Wellspring of the heart .
Truth will not be found in interpretations or confused laws or identifiers of what is false in Christianity or Judaism .
There is no hope of finding truth when truth is writing on a wall that explicitly tells you to walk around to the other side and yet we continually insist on banging our heads against it .
Jesus is always telling those with wounded heads to walk around the obstacles and save one’s self a immense headache .
The problem is mankind has become gluttons for the pain of it all and put immense energy into the obstacles that pain them instead of returning to the Lord by the simple way by walking around the wall to the other side to greet the messenger of the writing on the wall.

Raised Christian, I have come to think that Christianity is effectively the imposition of Graeco-Roman thought and mystery religions onto what they thought the Hebrew religion was, based on two misunderstandings, not just one. First they think they turned their backs on Graeco-Roman mystery religions, philosophy and so on (and they didn't do any such thing) and second, they think they understood Judaism and that it was a religion as they understood religions, which is clearly just plain wrong. The edifice of theology and mysticism that was built on this strange foundation is what has had its checkered path through history and its bizarre relationship to Judaism. But maybe, as a lovely Hadassa lady said when |I met her almost twenty years ago, I had a Jewish soul (and maybe always did)...because I always thought the teachings of the Tanakh made more sense than those of any of the churches I knew about.

Is Jesus a real Hebrew Man or a Myth. I'm sure Rabbi you know the Truth. Or do you? (John 8:31-36). Didn't Jesus Teach in the Synagogue and was rejected by you Jews?(Luke 4:16-30 & John 12:36-43) or was Paul wrong to attest this becos He spoke the Truth? (Acts 28:25-31, Acts; 22-29 & Romans 9:1-18, 25-29). Check Through the Scripture, check Jeremiah (29:11-14), ask God to show u the plan He has for Israel and the World through his Son(Rom 9:1-18, & Gal 2:15-21).
May be Truly, some people still choose to be blind (John 10:35-41 &John 8:41),
but it's ok! It's not, Jesus Himself, d Apostles or Paul who will Accuse you, but Moses Abraham and all the Prophets, who wud bear witness to the the Truth(John 6;30-41)"I am the Truth" say Jesus, The Messiah(John 3:25&26).

Not really, I as a Christian doesn't connect stories from the old testament like the story of Joseph, to Jesus. The New testament is not just about stories, it's about a New Covenant with God. The New Testament is a leverage for me to know what Christ did and preached and what happened to Him but my whole faith and love for Christ doesn't only roam around the Bible but also my faith in Him and loving Him and experience Him in my daily life beyond the Bible. In my prayers, in my spiritual conversations with Him, meditating... The Word itself is not enough, it's the spirit within a Christian and what this spirit experiences that really create that bond with Jesus. The moment you start to know Jesus in His reality, Jesus the meek, the humble and poor at heart, the merciful and loving, it becomes impossible to let Him go and forget about Him. You got to be receptive to His love to understand Him. That's my personal experience as a Christian. For me, without the New Testament, the Old Testament doesn't mean much to me but with the New Testament, the Old Testament shines and understood even more and vice versa, Jesus was right when He said in Matthew 5:17: Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them.

What Rabbi Singer says just after 12:00 in this talk is very interesting.
I actually did the same thought experiment with a Christian a few months ago, a while before coming across Rabbi Singer's talk. I said let's do a little thought experiment. Imagine an extraterrestrial came to this planet and you managed to communicate in a common language. You told him about what the Gospels say and about Christian theology: about the trinity and that Jesus died for mankind's sins and anyone who believes in him goes to Heaven.
How likely do you think it is the extraterrestrial would believe the story? And if not, why would they not believe it?
When faced with it from this perspective the Christian got very angry and defensive: "How dare you challenge the divine truth of my bible with your silly little thought experiment. You are not qualified to question or judge such things".
Well as it turns out I have 2 degrees in philosophy (logical argument and reasoning) and thought experiments are used even in academic contexts to check things for plausibility and coherence so Rabbi Singer is perfectly right to mention the Martian perspective here.
A lot of the Church's power rests on authority and on belittling you if you ask questions that are not comfortable. Don't fall for it, have courage.
When I was a little boy and my grandparents showed me a life-size wooden statue of Jesus on the cross with painted blood running down from the crown of thorns and told me that he died for my sins it did not make sense to me, and it did not feel right.
Learn to see things through children's eyes: with the heart and intuition, or be an extraterrestrial just for a little while 😉.

It is very interesting that so many Muslims like and support Rabbi Tovia and his views on Our LORD! This fact says it all about his position on Our LORD the Son of David Jesus Christ, the true Messiah, the saviour and redeemer of Israel! The New Testament tells us a story about some Jewish man at that time called Shaul, a famous prosecutor of Christ followers in Jerusalem. But then on his way to Damascus .... everything changed and became Paul the famous apostle and vehement defender of Christ. I think also Rabbi Tovia will be soon on “his way to Damascus” like Shaul ......The ways of God are unconceivable! May Our Lord Jesus Christ enlighten your heart dear Rabbi Tovia. I disagree with the premiss that Christians always read the Greek language scriptures first. My father began to systematically read the Bible beginning in Genesis and reading through to the end of Revelation in the order typically used by Christians, reading a portion each school day at breakfast until he finished. Admittedly, my mother read to me on Sundays not following the schedule of my father, but skipping around.
I do not think that I am unusual in reading all of Torah before any systematic reading of the Greek language scriptures.
A well known Christian hymn writer, Fanny Crosby, before she went blind at 12, due to rheumatic fever, I think, had already memorized Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy as well as Psalms, Proverbs and Song of Solomon.
As I recoil, she had not yet memorized any Greek language scriptures yet. She was apparently being taught scriptures in order, except that Proverbs used to be considered essential reading for any young person, because it claims to give understanding to the young. My father was instructed to read the book of Proverbs every day when he was young to get wisdom. It was assumed that wisdom was something young people did not have but desperately needed in their everyday life.
Although Fanny Crosby's memorization of scriptures was greatly hindered by blindness at age twelve, she wrote the lyrics the about nine thousand hymns. Often these humans were not theological enough for the taste of some ministers, but I would note that several of the hymns she wrote are now considered foundation to the most often sung hymns, while her detractors works are rarely mentioned.
It was not unusual in the late nineteenth century and the turn thereof for children to memorize the whole Bible. Nowadays, much less emphasis is placed on memorization in general.
The upshot is that it is more than possible for a person to be a thorough going Christian and start by being steeped in He rea scriptures before studying the Greek language scriptures.
The Scriptures say themselves that the Messiah ship of Jesus is hidden in the Hebrew scriptures and not understood until shown by the apostles. Paul frequently uses, in translation, the term mystery. This itself is probably a translation of a Hebrew of Aramaic word meaning secret. We know from the Hebrew language scriptures that some things God causes to be secret, but what God reveals is for the benefit of those God has revealed a thing to and their children.
Also, many things are hidden for, rather than from us. We are expected to search diligently for those things that are hidden for us.

If i to choose any 1 important book from the OT or Tanakh it would be Genesis. It's the foundation of the beginning.
From the NT I'd choose Acts.
I do agree with Tovia about progressive revelation. The doctrine of one God is established and not progressive.

Timothy 3:16 when read by a new convert could regard foreign matter such as the Pleiades
    .Origin of name
The name of the Pleiades comes from Ancient Greek: Πλειάδες.[14] It probably derives from plein ("to sail") because of the cluster's importance in delimiting the sailing season in the Mediterranean Sea: "the season of navigation began with their heliacal rising".However, in mythology the name was used for the Pleiades, seven divine sisters, the name supposedly deriving from that of their mother Pleione and effectively meaning "daughters of Pleione". In reality, the name of the star cluster almost certainly came first, and Pleione was invented to explain it.
Pleione (Ancient Greek: Πληιόνη or Πλειόνη[1]) was an Oceanid nymph in Greek mythology and mother of the Pleiades. Pleione presided over the multiplication of the flocks, fitting, since the meaning of her name is: "to increase in number"
Arcadia (Greek: Ἀρκαδία) is a region in the central Peloponnese. It takes its name from the mythological character Arcas, and in Greek mythology it was the home of the gods Hermes and Pan.
Pan the Beast / Romans 9 / Bringing the goats in to take over the sheep.
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
God of nature, the wild, shepherds, flocks, and mountain wilds
Pan teaching his eromenos, the shepherd Daphnis, to play his pan flute, Roman copy of Greek original c. 100 BC, found in Pompeii.
    Abode Arcadia
    Symbol Pan flute, goat
    Roman equivalent Faunus
In ancient Greek religion and mythology, Pan (/pæn/;[2] Ancient Greek: Πάν, romanized: Pán) is the god of the wild, shepherds and flocks, rustic music and impromptus, and companion of the nymphs.[3] He has the hindquarters, legs, and horns of a goat, in the same manner as a faun or satyr.

    One sacrifice forevermore
    What does Hebrews 10:12 mean?
But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,
A major point of this passage has been that animal sacrifices could never permanently take away human sin (Hebrews 9:9-10). If they could, then there would be no point in offering them over and over (Hebrews 10:1-2). These temporary measures were only meant to foreshadow our need for Christ. Here, the writer once again makes the point that Christ's sacrifice was a single, perfect, permanent action.
Verses 12 and 13 repeat images applied to Christ in earlier verses. Christ was previously described as "seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven" (Hebrews 8:1). This phrase symbolizes two important aspects of Christ and His ministry. First is the idea of Christ "sitting down," implying that His work is finished. The prior verse specifically referred to the old covenant priests as "standing," a contrast which shows their work was never done. The second image is that of Christ's position at the right hand of God. Symbolically, this was the seat of ultimate honor and power.
The following verse will, again, repeat a claim about the Messiah which was made in the Old Testament.
    Context Summary
Hebrews 10:1-18 summarizes the writer's argument that the new covenant, in Jesus Christ, is superior to the old covenant, based on animal sacrifices. Using themes developed in earlier passages, this section points out that God's own Word promised to replace the system centered on the priests and the temple. Those flawed earthly components were symbols of the ''real'' remedy for sin, which is the one-time sacrifice of Jesus. Having completed this long, detailed discourse, the writer will move on to practical applications, including a very stern warning.
    Chapter Context
God's own words, found in the Old Testament Scriptures, declare His intention to replace the old covenant with a new covenant. Jesus fulfills all of these prophecies, and all of the symbolism found in the system of priests, the tabernacle, and animal sacrifices. Knowing that Jesus Christ is, undoubtedly, God's remedy for our sin, we should be encouraged in holding on to our faith in the face of persecution. However, that same confidence means dire spiritual consequences for those who know Christ's salvation, but choose to act in defiance of His will.

Random internet Christian again. Hi again Mr. Singer, some fantastic points regarding Christians in general, especially at 11:25 about "spiritualization" of the OT, and believing that everything necessarily points to Jesus/Yeshua. It is very true that we adopt that mindset AFTER already having accepted Jesus/Yeshua as Messiah/Masiach. Fair enough, guilty as charged so far. But then we reach the idea that unfalsifiability is the hallmark of determining the truth of a religion. There is a huge danger I see in this, and that is: how does one falsify the Tenakh, beginning straight from the beginning with the book of Genesis? One cannot use the Tenakh to prove or disprove anything about G-d - it can only give an account of what various authors, over time, say they have experienced about G-d, similar to what the NT authors do at a later timeframe. Judaism is every bit as "unfalsifiable" as Christianity in this particular sense. The Tenakh was not written all at once - it was written over a period of years from say 4000 BCE to 400ish BCE - "a progressive revelation" as the Christian apologists you denounce, would say, though you are very careful to distract from this point through omission and quickly sneak into you saying that "the truth" (inferring the Tenakh ) is immutable. Also very true, something we Christians can agree with! However, the way in which you use it makes a base assumption that the Tenakh and ONLY the Tenakh IS the base truth, when it is, from say the atheist martian's perspective, unfalsifiable, just as Christianity is, and the atheist can see very clearly that the Tenakh, too, has that element of "progressive revelation" (date of writing was not "bam! and done!") I don't know - I think you are using a very double edged sword against yourself and Christianity here - perhaps something outside of "unfalsifiability" and "lack of progressive revelation" makes a very kind measuring stick of whether the holy writs are true or not to either of our groups. Despite my misgivings about this particular teaching, may Hashem bless you and all the Jewish people abundantly.

The authenticity of Moses is based on the public revelation at Sinai: God revealed Himself to the entire nation of Israel, at least three million people, and proclaimed before them the Ten Commandments. The entire Jewish people personally experienced that revelation, each individual in effect becoming a prophet, and each one verifying the experience of the other. With their own eyes they saw, and with their own ears they heard, as the Divine voice spoke to them, and also they heard God saying, "Moses, Moses, go tell them the following ..." They did not receive the occurrence of that event and accept it as some claim or tradition of an individual, but they experienced it themselves. That public revelation, therefore, authenticated the bona fide status of Moses as a prophet of God, and the Divine origin of the instructions he recorded in the Torah. That, and that alone, is the criterion for the belief in, and acceptance of, Moses and his teachings.

@@hrvatskinoahid1048 Under no circumstance do I personally question the authority of Moses as a Christian (no Christian does if they have any semblance of an idea of what they are talking about), nor does this have anything to do with what I said here to be honest. The argument has to do with how the rabbi uses "unfalsifiability" and "progressive revelation" as markers of false religion in general, when in fact, Judaism's Bible (what Christianity calls the Old Testament, excluding deuterocanonical Christian material) has the exact same traits when analyzed from an academic perspective. As far as your claim that about why Moses' words is accepted, we also accept this as validation of what he said - but this can only be applied to the Torah proper (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy), not the subsequent prophets such as Isaiah, Jeremiah, etc. etc., which come long after the fact - "progressive revelation", EVEN if particular books were given to the entire nation of Israel.

The rabbi is not speaking to atheists.
The rabbi is speaking to Jews who have been lured into Christianity by missionaries.
The rabbi is teaching that they need to return to Hashem.
Alien martian atheists do not say that tanach is the word of Hahsem.
Missionaries do say that tanach is the word of Hashem.
Because missionaries and the church make this claim the rabbi can teach how the tanach can be true and the New Testament false,
      But
The New Testament cannot be true and tanach false.
      It is logic.
If you have a missionary who says the tanach is false and the New Testament is true then they would be considered a heretic by church just as Marcion (the earliest publisher of a New Testament) was.
So the rabbi does the work of showing how the New Testament is false according to tanach.

[13] For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling them that have been defiled, sanctify unto the cleanness of the flesh: [14] how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish unto God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? [15] And for this cause he is the mediator of a new covenant, that a death having taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, they that have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. [16] For where a testament is, there must of necessity be the death of him that made it. [17] For a testament is of force where there hath been death: for it doth never avail while he that made it liveth. [18] Wherefore even the first covenant hath not been dedicated without blood. [19] For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses unto all the people according to the law, he took the blood of the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, [20] saying, This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded to you-ward. [21] Moreover the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry he sprinkled in like manner with the blood. Not me. I am a Christian. I don't believe in the Messiah Jesus of Nazareth as the only born Son of God who died to pay the penalty of the sins I practised and rose for my justification for everlasting life on Judgement Day before God because I read the Hebrew Bible or the New Testament.
I believe because I was healed of an eye issue in the name of the Jewish Messiah Jesus.
So, not everyone has to read the Bible to believe.
I recently saw the interview of a Jew who was confused if God send His Messiah and that was Jesus of Nazareth.
He began to pray to God to show to him if Jesus was the Messiah. (He stopped asking his fellow humans including scholars in other words and asked God in prayer).
At the end of the month of consistent prayer to God to answer his prayer, in a congregation of people, the woman who came there as guest approached him directly in the midst of all the people, put her hands on his shoulder and said what he wanted to know.
So, yes, God doesn't need humans in between to explain to anyone anything, not even Rabbis. If anyone is willing, they can ask. Just be consistent with your prayer and don't give up your prayer until God gives you the answer. It's your God. You can ask. You should be more comfortable with God than any human being. He is the one who knows you inside out even if you don't know him well yet.

It’s because belief turns to experience. The experience starts with God’s anointing. It’s the same anointing of the Patriarchs, Kings and Prophets distributed among all of God’s children. What you do with that anointing is up to you. If you want to aspire to be an Ezekiel, it is possible. Then the Third Adam is the capacity that the Messiah returns in our Age to finish the job which will take place organically not through stupendous supernatural occurrences. That is to say, the Messiah marries, succeeds the Second Adam and brings the theoretical foundation and seeds of a living foundation with spiritual experiences that can be mobilized. The Messiah is not supposed to live on earth with a physical body forever, we have to be more realistic than that brothers and sisters.

Interesting, as always. I agree with you, basically. Now apply that same model to the 'progressive revelation' claimed by Qur'an, and their stories. The falsification on the original Tanahk stories. Islam even doesn't know the name of YHWH/ haShem.
The chutzpah of Mohammed to leave out the best of Torah is an also an offence to haShem.
But it's relatively easy - and fun - to take the chistians to task; they won't kill or persecute you if you contradict their claims.

True. I'd rather converse with Jews also. At least I can leave with my head and body intact

Knock yourself out… many believing Christians can give a good account of their faith and are quite capable of showing that if Jews actually believed Torah and the Law of Moses they would believe the testimony of Jesus, instead of marking time for 2,000 years venerating the Law but never benefitting from its purpose. They had 40 years in the physical wilderness and now 2,000 in their spiritual wilderness.

In any case, Jesus warned against worshipping him and emphasized listening to him.
I was never offended, and I think Jesus said he would never be offended, by people who cursed his name, because once someone was elevated to a place of false worship, like the brass snake, they became a tool of false religion, and people would be abused and murdered in his name.
I met people all the time who were abused in Jesus' name so badly that they wouldn't even read his words. They wanted nothing to do with him and I couldn't blame them.
He said people would be blessed if they weren't scandalized by his name, and they read his words.
Christians would be judged by their fruits if they did what he said and sinned no more.

Your hero caused the Jews to be slain by the sword, their remnants to be scattered and humbled, the Torah to be altered, and the majority of the world to err and serve a god other than the Lord.

The Torah shows us that God placed blessings and curses before His people Israel, and biblical history demonstrates that when they were faithful He was with them, their land flourished, they defeated their enemies and they prospered. When they were disobedient and unfaithful the hand of God was heavy against them including being scattered into the nations and becoming a by-word among them. Deuteronomy is a witness against you.

That explains why when I red from genesis to end, I left Christianity.

Hello yamiroo. My opinion is that you never were a christian, and if I'm right, you've actually left nothing (as you say). If you will allow me to, I'd like to discuss with you why I have this opinion of you (based on your comment).

@@moonman1209 Hello, of course I was and your opinion is not important in this matter, you don’t know my past. When I was growing up, I started reading more the Bible and realized I was being taught rituals and beliefs that were alien to the Bible, so my doctrine said one thing, the Bible said the contrary. Until I decided to fulfill the purpose of the book, which is to be red, so I red from cover to cover, even the footnotes. That’s it.

Now I realize there are lots of people who are ignorant and don’t actually read the Bible, only what the leader says, on the other hand there are people whose love for the dogma is greater than their love for God Almighty, that is why even if they read to don’t follow pagan practices (whatever it may be), they will defend their pagan practice with their lives.
This is why you have all this groups or sects, because each one defends what they love, even if that contradicts what God says.

@@yamiroo Thank you for your reply/comments. As my opinion is not important i will not share with you what it is, but what I will say please, is that just because someone says they are a christian does not mean they are. In fact, the Bible says that many will be told by Jesus that he "never knew them" and he will also call them workers of iniquity.
The surprise these people will have because they themselves identified as christian. Jesus also said that not all that call him "Lord, Lord" will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only those that do the will of the father. So my point is this, many people claim to be christian (but according to the Bible) , nothing could be further from the truth.
My concern & question for you is this, First, why did you (really) become a christian? What was it that made you believe in the message of the cross , (in that), from that moment you were proud to call yourself a christian.
And second, what was it from your reading the whole Bible that made you stop believing?, this is important because if you have accepted the Bible as the truth, and that Jesus died for your sins, and now you have been brought from death to life, what then was it, that made you want to return the gift of life (through Jesus) back to God?
I honestly don't believe one can truly taste and see, or believe (willing to die for that belief) in the saving work of Jesus Christ, and then find reason to walk away. And it is for this reason, based not only on your first comment "That explains why when I red from genesis to end, I left Christianity", and subsequent comments that I ask you this,
      Did you ever, truly believe?

It seems you talk about yourself. I always believed (and I still believe) in God, but stopped believing in the Christian dogmas. It was literally what Rabbi Tovia said, the more I kept digging in scripture, it was clearer that the dogma of Christian church is not in line with the original teachings from Tanakh.
I have two option: Follow the will of God and accept His decrees, even if they are pleasant or not, or follow the (may be beautiful) teachings of a (Roman) philosopher (Paul) who misquoted and bend scripture to support his views.
      The choice is easy.
