The German Cristian ASKED the question, and just because HE was unaware of the CONTEXT that HE ASKED, he got upset with the Rabbi. This is the RABBI'S book! In HIS LANGUAGE! Don't get upset that he knows the answer!

Strange that the German Christian brings up his own evidence, then argues with Rabbi Singer because he asked the simplest and first question one would ask about the passage. Because the German couldn't answer the question he got very cross. The obvious reason he got mad because the German didn't ask the question himself, before he was 'convinced' that the passage validated Christianity. The Rabbi is right, as usual. One believes Jesus is God first and then re-interprets the Tenach to back their pre-supposed position.
The German girl did it too when she said that Jesus means Saviour, so when ever Saviour is mentioned in the Bible that refers to Jesus.

At 20:07 It is not true that lāmōw “always means ‘to them’ and never ‘to him’.” In actual fact, there are places in the Hebrew Bible where lāmōw means “to him” and not “to them”. For example:
Isaiah 44:15 ESV Then it becomes fuel for a man. He takes a part of it and warms himself; he kindles a fire and bakes bread. Also he makes a god and worships it; he makes it an idol and falls down before it [lāmōw].
Genesis 9:26-27 ESV He also said, “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem; and let Canaan be his [lāmōw] servant. May God enlarge Japheth, and let him dwell in the tents of Shem, and let Canaan be his [lāmōw] servant.
So, why does Rabbi claim that “anyone familiar with Biblical Hebrew” would know otherwise? Could it be that he himself is not familiar with Biblical Hebrew? Or is he intentionally being deceptive because most people do not know Biblical Hebrew and would not know any better?

While falsely using an alleged fallacy to discredit the argument of the emotional perturbed Christian German guy. Here is what, the Rabbi trows terms while not holding form to the definition or concept of said term. What possible rational difference could there exist when using for criteria for truth, words written in books ages ago when no one can attest to their authorship(and declaring these words to be the "word of God" where God is infallible) and the reasons posted by the Christian believer namely super natural experiences. The Rabi cannot logically(despite wrongly using quite often terms such as: FallAcy, Logic, etc) contradict the Christian testimony from a rational and logical position, using the same mythological and magical thinking structure he accuses his opponent incurring in. So the Christian uses the special pleading fallacy while the rabbi declares unequivocally that only the Torah is the standard for truth( and his interpretation that is). That religion is the opium of the masses( and I am not an atheist)finds here its highest exponents.

I am almost 75 years old and have studied religions for all my life. I was married to a Muslim, I have met Buddhist teachers for 44 years. My father read Hebrew and was a critical theologist with twice doctorate. So you cannot convince me that my point is ignorance.
All over the Tora you can read that
      GOD IS ONE.
The creator of the universe, the very power of love may inspire the humans, fill them with divine Qualities, but they are human still.
Read everything about the council of Nicea in the year 325. The Roman emperor Constantin decided -- decided! -- that Jesus equals a God, is a god, he is not like the Arians said, like a god. The emperor was still abiding in the world of ancient Greece and Rome; to him, gods could take the form of humans. He believed in the sun god Apollo. Influenced by his tradition, he saw no problem in having 2 or 20 gods or more. He did not understand the debate which was about one letter: homo-usius or homoio-usius. Equal to man or similar to man (but really a god). So the emperor ended the debate: "Jesus is a god!" and decided that the Arians were to be exiled and muted.
This is absolutely unacceptable for real Jews.

But the story of the beggar Lazarus and the rich man, i Jesus told said the rich was in hell and the beggar was in the arms of father Abraham. There was a great divide and the rich man wanted water but there was not way to do that. So the rich man asked to send someone to tell his brothers. The respose was though some rise from the dead and tell them, they will not believe. So Jesus has resurected and they will still not believe. No record of any other person has ever been recorded to do this. This man has to believe to see. But Jesus taught that we who believe are engraphed into the Jewish faith. Jews were the teachers of the Gospel. Not non-believers. This man is a non-believer which makes him a false teacher to the Gospel. Paul a converted Sanhedrin Priest to a follower of Christ sounds and makes a pretty compelling statement. I am a follower of Christ and I believe in only One God. He has written out the entire plan and only He can finish it, because human mind is not able to grasp the entirenty of God. God is A Spirit . In the begging it was only the manefestion of creation of the heavens and earth that was visible, But before anything was, the voice of God was always there. After he studied it he ran to his church and showed it to everyone and the entire congregation left together. The Priest stormed with all his congregants into a Bar Mitzvah celebration and everyone was looking at them what are they doing here? Then he explained what they just discovered and they were told not everyone here has to convert to Judaism because they found out the truth but that they also have the option to be a Noahide and many took it on and became Noahides and he became a Jew. Pleasing God is very important to me and coming to the realization that God forgives me when I repent of my short comings, that His wrath is not still on me, that He is pleased with my efforts of making things right with Him and people, is such a relief. For the first time in my life I feel whole, happy and at peace. Ok. Let's say only the new testament is correct. The arm of the Lord is in fact Jesus, GD has to become human for my salvation? The omnipotent creator who transgresses all, forgives our sins, knows all, has to be human? We're all made in the image of GD. Why would we need a human to forgive our sins?
What's more confusing is this. If he did indeed die for our sins, surely I am forgiven even without repentance as long as I accept him as my savior.
Ok. So let's say we need repentance. Then why do we need him? Surely GD doensnt need human form for that.
Ok so let's say we need a half human GD to repent for our sins. Then you're not an monotheist.
It's got nothing to do with the Jewish bible. It's not obfuscation. It's a book which doesn't have a new testament. But you're not pushing that. You're pushing the counsel of Nicaea.
Don't get me started on Paul... R' Singer is a wonderful blessing to us. And we're lucky to have him. To write him off as a heretic for reading the text in Hebrew is not winning you any converts.

You’re right. There’s no mention of JC (christlogical messages) in the Hebrew bible at all or in any edition that is a pure translation of the Word of God.
King James Version, the old and the new versions are plagued with mistranslation, passages the were taken out context, words in Hebrew that mean one thing and replaced with a word in Aramaic that fitted with translator to make it appear christological.
Let me ask you, in what language was the so called “Old Testament” written?
      Hebrew and Aramaic
In how long was it written?
The Hebrew bible was written in over one thousand years.
      Who wrote the Hebrew bible?
Many many authors. Prophets, kings and other sages. All of the Jews.
      When was the testament written?
It was written between the year 49 and 95 of the first century of the Common Era.
      Who wrote the New Testament?
Paul wrote the epistles between the year 49 and 55 of the CE, unknown writers of the four gospels and the other books, between the years 67 and 95 of the CE. All Greek speakers and citizens of Rome, including Paul of Tarsus, a citizen of Rome, a Greek descendant.

I don't hate Rabbi Singer by any means, but I believe he is wrong on a great deal of what he claims and presents...I realise championing modern Judaism gives him a ready audience of people that will accept what he says almost without question, especially when he thinks he has debunked and buried certain aspects of hated Christian doctrine or proved to some dopey slow-witted Christians how unbelievable the Gospels are. I'm here because some people mentioned listening to Tovia and being impressed, and I am slowly going through some of the video's and seeing what it is all about. Just like anyone else on this site I believe I am at liberty to stick my oar in the water, and feel free to respectfully challenge or affirm some of the comments. We don't know for certain who wrote some of the Gospels and scholars align themselves with opinions based on traditional understanding. 1. Matthew, possibly the Tax-Collector and a disciple and Apostle. 2. Mark possible the man who had a falling out with Paul for a period. 3. Luke was possibly a Gentile or a Hellenized Jew, and was most likely the Friend, Physician and Biographer of Paul. 4. John was definitely the youngest of the disciples and an Apostle who wrote the intimate and revelatory account of Jesus... (I personally find the opening chapter of the Gospel of John absolutely astonishing), he also wrote 3 letters that circulated around the various communities springing up that believed Jesus was the promised Jewish Messiah as spoken about by Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms. Hope this clarifies... best regards.

The very last point you made has really hit home. And that seems to be that from the Jewish perspective, the Christian mischaracterises, or misunderstands, or just completely doesn't get the point that God's mercy is so great that He can forgive sin without a sacrifice. (And then the standard Christian counterargument is that God's mercy is so great that He gave his only Son as a sacrifice for the atonement of sin.)
There is so much I'm trying to work out in my own head, but I just wanted to share this.

"...and with Your Mighty Arm do You destroy Your enemies" Psalm 89 verse 11. ---> Crossing through the Sea the Jews sang: "May dread and fright fall upon them; with the Greatness of Your Arm may they become as still as a stone, until Your people cross over, 'ה, until this nation that You have acquired crosses over." Exodus 15:16.
"And You took Your people, Israel, out of Egypt, with signs, with wonders, with a Mighty Hand and an Outstretched Arm and with great miracles" Jeremiah 32 verse 21.
"Whom made His Arm of Glory go at the right hand of Moses To Split the Waters from before them to make Himself a Name for all of time" Isaiah 63 verse 12.
"You have redeemed Your Nation with Your Arm, the children of Jacob and Joseph Selah" Psalm 77 verse 16.
"Who struck egypt...& took Israel out from there...with a Mighty hand & Outstretched Arm...Whom split the ocean to pathways...& passed Israel through them...and drowned Pharo and his army in it..." Psalm 136 verses 10-15.
"And 'ה took us out of Egypt with a Mighty Hand and Outstretched Arm with Great Miracles, with Signs and Wonders" Deuteronomy 26 verse 8.
"Or has there ever been such a thing where God took a nation out from within another nation with wonders, with signs, with miracles, with war, with a Mighty Hand and an Outstretched Arm, with Great Wonders as everything 'ה your God in Egypt to your very eyes" Deut 4 verse 34.
"...and I shall save you from being enslaved, and redeem you with an Outstretched Arm and great judgements" Exodus 6:6
"Only to 'ה Who brought you up from the land of Egypt with great Might and with an Outstretched Arm, Him shall you fear, and to Him shall you prostrate yourselves..." 2nd Kings 17:36.
About the End of time: "oh Arm of the Lord, awaken awaken like days of old of 1st generations...are you not who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep, who made the depths of the sea a road for the redeemed one to pass through?" Isaiah 51:9-11.
    End of time Final Redemption:
Like Isaiah 52 and Isaiah 54, Isaiah 53 is about the End of Days Final Redemption of the Jewish people, and unlike in Egpyt where we left rushed and in a hurry (Deut 16:3), in the final redemption it will not be so (Isaiah 52:12), and just like He did super natural miracles for us in the 1st Redemption, so will He do again in the Final Redemption, as it says: "Like the days in which I took you out of Egypt I will show them Miracles, Nations will see and be Ashamed of all their "might", they will put a hand to their mouths and their ears will go deaf, they will lick the dust like a snake...of 'ה our God will they be terrified and fear You" Micha 7 verses 15-17.
Hence Isaiah 52 verse 15: "at him will Kings shut their mouths because what they haven't heard of they will see..." What will the Leaders of the world SEE that will cause them to "shut their mouths/put a hand to their mouths"? They will witness God's Super-Natural Divine Intervention/Miracles to save the Jewish people and destroy their enemies ie: "the Arm of the Lord", an Attribute of God where He acts in Super Natural ways to redeem Israel and destroy their enemies. Hence as the chapters before Isaiah 53 clarify: "oh Arm of the Lord, awaken awaken like days of old of 1st generations...are you not who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep, who made the depths of the sea a road for the redeemed one to pass through?" Isaiah 51:9-11.
Exactly as God promises He will do for the Jews at the end of time: "And I shall take you out from amidst the nations, and gather you from all the lands to which you have been scattered, with a Mighty Hand and an Outstretched Arm..." Ezekiel 20 verse 34.
And Hence about the Final Redemption in the very chapter leading into Isaiah 53: "Burst out in song, sing together oh ruins of Jerusalem, for God has consoled His people, He has redeemed Jerusalem, 'ה has revealed His Holy Arm before the eyes of all the nations and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God" isaiah 52:9,10.
As in all the verses quoted about the 1st Redemption, "the Arm of the Lord" are His Miracles that He did for the offspring of Jacob when leaving Egypt, "the Arm of the Lord" was revealed on and through the Jewish people at the 1st redemption and will be revealed on and through the Jewish people at the final redemption, and when the entire earth witnesses Gods supernatural divine providence over the Loyal Jews, all nations and their leaders will shut their mouths and be ashamed because they will realize that coming against the religious jews = coming against God Himself. A 180° flip, the entire world thought negatively about the Jews, their image was darkened and mocked, but in the end they will be exalted above all, (like it says "On that day...the weakest among them shall be like David, and the House of David shall be like like Angels..." Zechariah 12 verse 8, look it up yourself).
Can we look throughout other End of Days prophecies to see WHO the Servant in Isaiah 53 is? Isaiah 53:9 says "he had done no injustice and no falsehood/deceit was in his mouth" isaiah 53:9. Compare that with the end of days prophecy "The Remnant of Israel shall do no wrong, and they will not speak falsehoods, a deceitful tongue shall not be found in their mouths" Tzefanaya 3:13. The "servant" is the End of Days Torah Observant Remnant of the Jewish people.
Who is "My Servant" in all the preceding chapters of Isaiah 53? It is Israel. See Isaiah 41 verses 8&9, Isaiah 42 verse 19, Isaiah 43 verses 10 & 11, Isaiah 44 verses 1 & 2. Isaiah 44 verse 21, Isaiah 45 verse 4, Isaiah 49 verse 3.

@@LeutherGreengager-ip1uw I promise if you read this comment in full, you will get your answer. Let me answer you with a question: what does God mean when He says "...to beautify the place of My temple, the place of My feet I shall glorify" Isaiah 60 verse 13. Why does God call the Temple Mount (the place where the revelation of His Glory was openly revealed) "the place of His feet" ? We find also ---> "So says YHVH: the heavens is My seat, and the earth is My foot-stool..." Isaiah 66 verse 1, again, clearly this is METAPHOR, what does it mean? What about this: "And Israel saw the mighty hand which YHVH did in Egypt" Exodus 14 verse 31, so is "the mighty hand" referring to the miracles they SAW in egypt or is it referring to a literal hand? "And to all the mighty hand and to all the great awe in which moses DID to the eyes of all of Israel" Deut 34 verse 12, so is the "Mighty Hand" a real hand? Did Moses show israel a physical hands, or is it a metaphor in reference to the miracles God did through Moses? The Torah speaks in METAPHOR "in the language humans understand". God doesn't have ANY physicality AT ALL, they are all metaphor for understanding God's Divine Providence, His attributes, and His relationship with us. *With the verse you quoted, it means God relented over acting in punishment, His WILL was to relent, He decided not to etc. Just like the word נפש is used here: "If it be your will נפשכם" Genesis 23 verse 8. It uses the word נפש nefesh in the plural (נפשכם) as "if it be your will" ie: want/will. Same thing.*

Dear Rabbi Singer, I greatly admire the way you remain so respectful and patient with all people who have discussions with you. You are also a highly gifted scholar and orator.
As a committed follower of Jesus Christ, I can freely tell you that huge numbers of people who call themselves Christians, are not Christians at all, for only "if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things have passed away; all things have become new." This speaks of a person who has been transformed in the inner man through repentance from sin and faith in Christ, our Saviour. We love the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob with all of our hearts. We know that the culmination of world history is closely linked to the happenings in Israel. We kmow that you as a nation are the apple of God's eye. I find no discrepabncy between the Tanach and the Chrisrian Bible. It was when my father told me of the sufferings of Christ on my behalf, that the eyes of my heart were opened and I understood the Gospel of Jesus. I sincerely hope that we will meet up in heaven.
