Don't mean to be picky here, Chris, but you left out a very important thing: deliverables/archiving.
If you RiP using only the Event's start time, like in this video, the guy you send these tracks to (or your future self) will have to "figure out" where this rendered track starts and mess around to put it where it goes if they are importing the archived/rendered tracks for a fresh mix, especially if someone else is mixing them at another studio.
What I do, even with both midi and audio renders, especially if it's just a short bit mid-way through the song, is turn the Snap on and use the Pen Tool to write a fake/null bar at the start of the song, then select that Event also when rendering, that way your new file begins at Song Start Time, not at some random place within the song.
This is also a good idea for "Tails" because it's "natural" as opposed to forced by the Rip Dialogue and you'll get it right every time. Cheers

Jef for Deliverables/Archiving the Multitrack Audio Export in Cubsae 11 Pro is the way forward. However, if someone doesnt have that version then totally agree with your blank event at the beginning idea, which I used to do prior to 11 Pro. You could probably produce a logical editor preset or macro to insert that blank with a shortcut.

I agree, but that is not what the video is about, I'm talking about Bouncing MIDI and Audio Back in your Cubase session during production. But if someone wants to use Render in Place for Mixing or to send to someone else, what you suggest is what I would do in this case to keep everything in sync. I actually made a video on Preparing your tracks for Mixing months ago th-cam.com/video/R1NSW5Q0WdI/w-d-xo.html :)

To clarify, I have 3 separate inputs going to 3 separate outputs working fine, now I want to render in place a MIDI track, I select the MIDI track, highlight the MIDI track and render, what I actually get then is the 3 tracks rendered, my track has the correct data the other two are empty, what `I can’t fathom is why all three rendered

    In Cubase Pro 11:
Say I have a drum loop that resonates at a pitch that is slightly sharp or flat from A 440.

Can Cubase determine the exact frequency and provide a tuning reference pitch by which to tune the other instruments. Guitars, bass etc?

So this would help with vocals that have some fx on them to free up speed and memory usage? In other words, if there is a reverb, delay, etc, & you want to have the fx print with them you could render in place and then won't need the fx taking up performance speeds and so on?

The best is to solo the Source track with the track where the sidechain is applied and Export. From the Export window, check , beside "After Export" select "Create an Audio Track" so it will Export it back in your project right away.

Great video Chris as always. Can you answer one question for me that I cant figure out. After rendering with effects (print track) is there a way to use a solo / mute feature in Cubase that allows you to quickly jump back and forth between tracks like an audition feature without having to click solo on and off for each track? I'd like to have a setup where I just select the track and it plays the audio without clicking on the solo / mute buttons. I do this to compare the sound quality before and after the render / print track process. Please advise and thx for all that you do for the Cubase community.

    • @MorisoniProductions
      @MorisoniProductions 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Don't know if this is what you mean, David, but in Cubase preferences under Editing/Project & MixConsole, there is an option 'Enable Solo on Selected Track'. When this is checked, if you solo a track and then select another track, the solo status will be moved to that track. So you can just use your arrow key in the Project to select which track to solo. Also, you can assign a shortcut to that preference and thus turn it on or off with a key command. Very handy.

Hi is there a way to create a click track using Cubase Elements?

Thanks! I still don't see why there can't be a one button option to print VST instruments to the track in real time, in record with .WAV files instead of midi. I understand the advantages of midi but I also understand the advantages of audio files when your trying to punch in and synchronize WAV files with a track that never was midi. I need it so bad I've always used two computers and two audio interfaces just so I can record vst instruments in audio tracks immediately, no processing. It's just like the old days playing audio from a hardware synth.

So I am new to midi and recorded a Rhodes midi track using keyscape. Everything worked fine, and I was able to render in place to convert the midi to audio. However I was hoping to keep the midi track to experiment with different sounds. The midi track is now whited out and although I can see it, i can’t get any sound from keyscape. Do you lose the ability to reuse the midi track after bouncing?

You need to Route the sounds inside Addictive Drums to the correct AD Outputs. I don,t have AD though

I use render in place because the people I work with want audio files. However, I've been wondering if I should use the export features when I have all vst instruments and put them back in the project. What is better in this case? Render in place or export individual tracks and put them back in the project? Thanks Chris! Cubase rocks!!!!!

    • @mixdownonline

The good thing about Export is that it will keep the channel names for all your tracks opposed to Render in Place that will keep the same name for all channels selected

Chris, how do I Render down to a "Mono" Audio Track? For example, I have a Midi Kick Drum, and when I Render it to an Audio Track, it is always being Rendered down to a Stereo Track. Can you please help me? Thank you!

Chris I know this question should go to Dom Sigales since I use his compact kit.I cant get to render it to Audio so I have to export to Audio and re import
