    Thank you ladies for the subjects you covered. I've been living in The Villages for 6 years and I am very satisfied living here. I also had 3 experiences with The Villages Hospital and had excellent care and love my cardiologist and general practioner. I agree that the majority of the people here are friendly and my neighbors are very helpful. I have managed to attract a lot of nice people here. Thanks for the video. Good job!

    Appreciate the insight. We watched your other videos in prepping for our Lifestyle visit recently and value your unbiased presentation of the issues, benefits, and limitations of TV. I was wondering how the woodshop situation worked so that was particularly helpful in this episode. Will continue to watch as we close in on our retirement destinations selection!

      😊Hi Ladies, Love your Insight & Info. FYI: HECM or Reverse Mortgages are NOT a Gov. Loan. They are a FHA insured loan to the Lender (Mortgage Insurance). So the Lender does not lose money if the home is worth less than the Lender is owed. I am not licensed in FL. However I have a co worker that lives in the Villages if you would like his contact for an interview😊

    Thank You Ladies once again, All interesting. The golf cart on our lifestyle visit was programmed slow, I found on the pathways some folk gave me the eye as they over took me as if they wanted to say "drive it or pull over" but My foot had the pedal all the way down, In some cases I did get out of their way, A few times when we stopped to admire an area off the pathway we did encounter a few lovely people who stopped to check on us and see if we needed help, How nice that was. We love TV and hopefully will be there eventually.
    As we move forward into 2023 I want to wish you both and your families a safe, happy and healthy new year🥳

    I live in a town of 86K people. We have 3 large hospitals. There are not enough hospitals in The Villages. Only one, if I’m correct, in a city with a population of elderly people. The is at the top of my list for NOT moving to TV.

    • @thevillages365
      @thevillages365  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You are 100% correct. One hospital in TV itself. There is another hospital in Leesburg which is fairly close, especially if you are in the southern section of TV. Then there is a facility in Belleview that many go to, but it is not a hospital. It is definitely something to think about. Thank you for watching!

    Great reporting ladies! My parents moved here in 96. I have seen the changes over two decades. I moved down end of 2020. What we have here is unique.... from impeccably maintained recreation facilities to an incredibly talented mature population that provide classes and opportunities to learn new things from experts.
    As it has grown, I have seen the friendly neighbor atmosphere erode but still, more than not, welcoming.
    I don't know if it's true but I read somewhere that one of the reasons dogs are not permitted on the Miona walking path is because the material it's made out of gets horrifically hot from the sun and will burn an animal's paws.

    If there are no provisions for an older family member to move in,The Villages should put smthg into the buyer's contract that states in case of death, if the family can't live there or can't deal with this - for whatever reason- the house is sold at the current market rate and the monies are paid to the family minus realtor, lawn care, upkeep, and any HOA fees that were left due at the time of death only and not after. But that should eliminate houses sitting empty.

      I’m new to Sumter county. I live in a new neighborhood in Wildwood. My parents live in TV. The driving here is far worse than Atlanta. I will say there’s lots of road rage and irrational drivers. Lots of speeding and the annoying gates! All I have to do is unbuckle open my door and pus the button. Makes zero sense! My father lives in the first house in a neighborhood off a “main” road. Police are always at his house, looking at his security system. Lots of car break ins etc… I have MS and can’t always move quickly, it amazes me how many people in TV are retired, yet always in a hurry! My sister works in Sumter Landing and she rarely has a rude customer! I grew up In Peachtree City Georgia. Also, a planned community with golf cart paths etc… I don’t think the “paths” along the road are safe. As an experienced golf cart driver, this makes me nervous. There’s lots of drinking and driving here and not just golf cart!!

    • @Priyanka77574
      @Priyanka77574 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. It's worse in Florida because the police don't care about people speeding. I blame DeSantis. My parents live in Lakewood Ranch and the drivers are horrible there too.People drive like maniacs and the POLICE DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. We are from NY and I can tell you that people get pulled over for speeding here all the time, I've never seen a single police car pull people over for speeding in Florida. Not once. The only time the police show up is when there is an accident. It's absurd for a state that claims to be all about "law and order." I also find the politics down here to be very difficult to deal with. You'll never see Democrats in blue states being as nasty and divisive as Trump supporters. We don't drive around with F trump bumper stickers for example but I see F Biden bumpers stickers and F Democrats signs everywhere. Just more proof that right-wingers are horrible people.

    some state laws put limits on fines from HOA, don't know what Florida law says. Other states allow HOA to put a "lien" on home and get funds after it sells. HOA is not suppose to release complaints and fines information; so people shouldn't assume what is going on.

    • @thevillages365

      Yes, you are correct with the way the liens etc work. These are violations of the Declarations and when someone files a complaint people can request a hearing. This is an open forum, so the information is made public. Thanks for watching!!!

    Why are there few or no solar panels on the homes? Also, would you be able to replace a shingle roof with a metal roof? Ty

    • @thevillages365
      @thevillages365  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most homes that we see solar panels on have pools to heat. Our power was unbelievably inexpensive, however about 4 months ago or so, our bill jumped about 30%. I called and asked and they stated that they had purchased power about 10 years ago and had a great deal, and that expired. There are also a couple of companies here, so I am referring to SECO. My guess is that the panels wouldn’t pay for themselves. Even still, on average in the winter our bill runs about $45 and in the summer still under $200.
      As far as the roof goes, I have only seen maybe one or two here. Any changes people make need to go through an architectural review process. (We never know for sure when we see things though if people did get the correct permission). That question and answer may vary between communities. I would say that most likely would not get approved in any villa community though as they try to keep the look consistent there. Thank you for watching!

    Hi Debbie & Jan, Happy New Year. If the newspaper printed all of the people arrested for DUI in my suburban area each week, the number would be large. Where will the apartments be located at Lake Sumter Landing? As to the apartments at Spanish Springs, those apartments are going to be so close to the square, the soundproofing will have to be at the maximum for the music not to carry in to the apartments. At Brownwood, the apartments are a couple of blocks from the music, which lessens the noise. One real estate agent on TH-cam predicted the apartments at Brownwood would go condo by 2022, so I guess he was wrong. I thought I read or heard on a TH-cam channel that another hospital was planned for south of 44. Just over 40 days until my upcoming trip to The Villages, but who is counting. Wishing both of you good health & happiness in 2023.

    Ladies 😊 I moved to FL a year ago! I couldn’t afford The Villages … I’m in Fort Myers ! I’m in a Condo community 😂 rest assured your “controversial “ comments I believe go along with ALL COMMUNITIES in FL /:
    Now that SEASON is here UGH!! I had the pool to myself with maybe a handful of FT residents! I went to the pool just before Christmas & there was a group of seasonal folks meeting up there… omg complaining about EVERYTHING! Mind you we just went through Hurricane Ian & things need to be fixed, but very blessed no homes were destroyed like so many around us! I finally had ENOUGH & got up & said WELCOME to PARADISE & left! Traffic is horrible don’t ever go on green until you’re absolutely sure no one is running the red lightning /: Horn honking is constant …I was 6 cars back at red light waiting to make left turn , when the light changed the guy in back of me starting honking … mind you I couldn’t move until the 6 cars in front of me did 🤦🏼‍♀️ I kept my hands on the wheel & didn’t make any hand gestures ! When we turned he went into far right lane at high speed & was stopped at next street for red light 😂 and I was ahead of him in my lane 🤷‍♀️ So don’t feel it’s just The Villages rude idiots everywhere! The app neighbors is all you need to look at to see the mindset of these folks with nothing to do except COMPLAIN … just stupid little things ! Again , we have boulevards still piled with whole households waiting for FEMA pickup & their complaining about long lines at Costco for gas 😮since THEY ARRIVED !! Lol we have a whole island (Sanibel) destroyed … those folks are residing here along with workers from around the country housing here to HELP rebuild ! I hope they all sell and stay where ever they came from! SURVIVING a DEVASTATING Hurricane … totally changes your perspective on life ! HAPPY NEW YEAR 🥳

  • @doylejodi7502

    If you guys pay a maintenance fee, then there should be a ‘maintenance’ person to keep the person’s property lawn & yard, kept cut and maintained. (In those circumstances, where it looks as though the property is abandoned.) They would just charge back the owner. I’m not saying they’d ever see that money, but that’s what they should do.
    Where I live, if you don’t shovel your sidewalk and someone calls on you, then the town comes out and does it and it gets charged back to the homeowner’s property taxes.
    Side note: HATE nosey people, who have nothing better to do but to complain about ‘imperfections’ with a person or their property!

    I love how candid you both are, especially when life & people are sometimes less than perfect. Some of your facial expressions are precious, but always upbeat. Lol.
    The $3M spent on the woodshop seems like a huge over-investment in a single use item, when only used or available to a couple hundred people.
    What is next, a million dollar garage for the car club enthusiasts, motor-heads, weekend warriors, and guys into car repairs & muscle cars?
    That $$$ money might have funded a couple dozen really popular smaller activities, clubs, exercise facilities, or projects, of interest to many many more people (and to the 75,000 women who make up 50+ % of T.V.)
    I wonder how those funding decisions are made, about the amount to spend on the woodshop, the walking paths, the replacement watertower, the plantings & flowers, etc.?
    Can be difficult to please so many (or to reach a consensus), especially when most many Villagers may only use a few of the amenities, or be active in just a village or two, and who have never even used so many of the amenities.
    Do residents even get a chance to vote on budget & spending issues, or to see actual expenditures periodically of the $10M+ collected & spent each month in amenity fees?
    I really enjoy your video, ladies, when you share info, thoughts, & answer questions.
    Thank you borh.

      Thanks so much Tom! We will research a bit about your question before answering. We all live in districts, and there are people on the boards of these districts. That would be the first place to start to voice an opinion on what is happening in your area. The districts report to a higher voice and so on. Will dig in deeper and let you know what we find out. We definitely don’t get asked about amenities or what we want and definitely don’t get an individual vote. In the “old” days the developer would send a survey once a year which we could provide feedback on. That is where they would ask about things we wanted to see here. I don’t think I have seen a survey in maybe 4-5 years now.

So that happens on a rare occasion usually when someone passes away and there is no will etc. They could honestly be in any neighborhood, but it is not something that you see on every corner. There are approximately 140,000 people here now, so even if you divide that in half assuming everyone lives with someone (which isn’t a true number), that would leave about 70,000 homes here. I think having 10,000 screaming Karen's snooping around my yard "policing" everything ensures I won't live there. Drama, Policing, Nosy Neighbors, yuk.

    I say live and let live. It blows my mind to see how these people spend their time making everyone's life a living hell - policing your neighbor. Go bake cookies of pray a little.
