Can we talk about how much effort, drawing, and editing went into these off-the-wall bits? We honestly got so much more than we expected and it's an incredible time
I also met Phil LaMarr!! He's the Voice of Samurai Jack and man. That meant so much to me. I actually wasn't allowed to watch the show as a kid, and got into it during my freshman year of college. Which was, to put it lightly, a really turbulent time in my life. I told him all this and he nodded sagely. "Oh yeah, because of the violence?"

Running around using a guitar to blast time travel aliens while Eddy used science fantasy magic to help me seemed so cool but I didn't have a computer for it as a ... teen...
OpenFusion, the revival/preservation of the original FF that's being played in this video, has support for you to run your own local servers you can play with your friends via a service like Hamachi! Alternatively you could play on OpenFusion's own servers like in this video.
@@gammaradiation9839 along with this, there's a program called Flashpoint that let's you play old online games. There's a completely single player version on there which requires no internet connection after downloading!! Hope this helps
That’s cool. Though certain Cartoon Network shows never in the game like Regular Show and Steven Universe ( Even though I was severely disappointed in that show) wonder if the server adds exclusive features in the game.
@@jmachero5852 Regular Show and Steven Universe were kinda right at the cut-off for newer shows getting some content in-game besides Regular Show getting Nanos. Though either way, that content would've been probably quite low quality either way. OpenFusion server's are there for preservation of how the games were so there's not really any exclusive content or features compared to how the game was besides command-access on local servers (which unrelated side-note: Flashpoint basically just uses a local server so you can set up a singleplayer version the same way). If you're looking for any new content/updates to the original game you're better off playing Retrobution, a project unaffiliated with OpenFusion using their server software to rehost a previous fan revival of FusionFall, FusionFall Retro, which added new content and updates to the game with Retrobution adding some of it's own changes as well.

The Chowder experiences war and Johnny Bravo has ptsd segments reminded me that I need to see if Scoob & Shag has new chapters. I HIGHLY recommend others to read it if you don’t mind the horror elements because it gets insane in the best way possible with its cartoon cast.

I remember when Fusion Fall was first getting teased online and me and my old school mates were so confused seeing anime versions of all our favorite CN characters. I have a faint memory of the plot where one of the PPG is MIA and its written really serious or something lol. There was even a teaser comic for it.
IT WAS BUTTERCUP!!! she had an evil variant who was integral to the plot and had a cool alternate design and everything too!! she was definitely my favorite part of playing this game as a kid lol

This gave me the idea of Johnny Bravo but with ptsd, where every time he flexes it's just a short ptsd attack, and instead of grunts it's heart piercing screams.
God, fusionfall was such a cool concept, it could have become the CN equivalent of smash bros. I would love for it to be continued in some way.

In all honesty, I’d love to see a reboot/sequel to FusionFall.
If Learning With Pibby is anything to go off of, post-apocalyptic crossovers are still popular, and I could easily imagine it working still.
They have an entire catalog of franchises from Hanna-Barbera, Cartoon Network, and Adult Swim, so they have a steady supply of content.
Also, Johnny Test could wield a whip like he’s Simon Belmont.
Check out Saturday Morning Invasion, sounds right up your alley in terms of FF-based fan projects! Alternatively you could play an expansion of the original game through Retrobution which is a modified hosting of a previous fan revival of the original game FusionFall Retro.

@@connorbeith3232 The original developers didn't add any NPCs but they did add references. The Hana-Baba Temple Infected Zone is a reference to Hanna-Barbera Studios as well as pillars in the Ruins have engravings of HB characters into them. There's also an unused Scooby Tail item in the game that's only able to be gotten through commands. The original Retro remade it and made it a earnable item though and you can get it in Retrobution.
Honestly, agree. I've had the mind for awhile that licensed property video games could be decent and competent, dare I say maybe even good, if big media properties dedicated some time and money, as well as maybe a small but dedicated indie games studio, into them, as opposed to slopping out shovelware trash where the only hook is trying to get kids to make their parents buy the game because it has characters they like. Lowkey a spin off franchise of games set in the FF universe with a steady supply of games that really would only have to be visually cool and somewhat fun and not total butt to play would probably develop a decent fanbase. Of course, I'd like to hope that in such a scenario, the proposed games could be better than fun enough and not total hot garbo visually and mechanically, but as it stands even that low bar would put them above most licensed cartoon video games.
Honestly, I'm wondering if Pibby wasn't at least in some way inspired by FF's plot; a combined multiverse/world of cartoon characters that is suddenly infested with something beyond their understanding, resulting in a situation where even the most dense or villainous characters get the memo that it's either rally with the heroes, or die.
Hell, if I remember right, there's even strong implications (you had to dig for) in the original plot of FF (When your character is sent forward in time accidentally by DeeDee, I believe at some point you make it back and stop that from happening, fixing the timeline) that some of the characters DIED in the first waves of the invasion, I recall Johnny Bravo and I thiiink Double-D and Edd possibly being amongst the casualties. But that could me completely misremembering parts of the plot to a game released nearly two decades ago.
Fusionfall is probably one of the many reasons why i’m into au fanfic.

Fun fact: this game had a spinoff called Fusion Fall: Heroes. From what I remember, it was basically if you took the concept of fusion fall and then combined it with League of legends and Gacha.
5:52 That line about the Academy being unstable back in the day is no joke. FusionFall back in the day was pretty unstable, especially with the new content that they added. If memory serves they winded down development and transferred it over to a smaller team or something, which probably was a big contributor to the overall quality of the new content. The game still had a habit of crashing before the new updates, but things definitely got more unstable from there.
You remember the sanitized version. What happened is the development studio in Korea that was contracted to create it went bankrupt and didn't tell CN. They stopped working on it -- BUT KEPT ACCEPTING PAYMENTS. They'd have a representative show up for meetings and stuff, but they basically didn't get anything done. In the end there was a mad scramble to save the development assets and bring them in-house so the game wouldn't just die right there.

The whole joke about cartoon characters being in a war is pretty much the plot of a webcomic called Scoob and Shag. It starts out as a pretty unfunny comedy comic, but over time it turns into this Shonen Anime with various cartoon charatcers fighting in this huge war. Also, everyone has a power called a Ballyhoo, which is basically a Superpower based around some kind of animation or TV pun. There's also some body horror in it at points. It's genuinely one of the most insane things i've ever read, and it's still ongoing!
I feel like ballyhoo is sorta like a Jojo Stan for cartoon characters, since it's also puns but music.

The drawn scenes such as at 12:31 need to be turned into their own apocalyptic universe with tv show characters. (And yes, the scenes described would happen in it.)
The closest thing I can recall is the webtoon Scoob and Shag. It has war, friendship, betrayal, Kermit smoking a joint, gore and horror, and fascinating world building. It also has a cast from classic and childhood cartoons.
I would listen to Salty and Dollip build up this alternate version of this game where all of these non-serious characters leading a full scale war and dealing with trauma, those drawings were incredible too.

God the Marzipan War arc of FusionFall was a wild ride...
I still get goosebumps at the characterization of Chowder throughout the entire arc. By the end, you sympathize with him as you recognize the war has completely shattered his hope and innocence, and probably left him shell shocked and mentally disturbed for the rest of his life, and yet you still have to recognize how commiting himself to the war effort for the sake of protecting Marzipan City slowly erroded his ethics, morals, and empathy until he eventually commited atrocious and unforgivable war crimes as he viciously tortured, demonized and othered his perceived enemies, and eventually slaughtered mass villages of innocent bystanders and victims of the war who weren't on the front lines en masse. By the end, Chowder was a victim, but he wasn't a hero and his crimes can't be forgiven if we're being objectively honest about his actions.
Honestly, Dollip and Salty made for such a great comedic duo. I hope we see more with the two of them, or who knows, maybe Dollip could be part of the next Friendlocke
FusionFall was my first ever MMORPG, and despite it being weird looking, it was really fun for me! except the time i was exploring and somehow ended up trapped in an area where enemies are all way higher level and generally would one shot me. i basically had to beg for in game cash to get my ass back to the early game locales to be able to play normally again.
it was sooo easy to get stuck in high-level areas like that. happened to me so often

In all honesty, FusionFall should have made a crossover collection of the short lived Codename:KND online game before they pulled the plug. I always liked the helmet design from Codename:KND because looking back on it, it looks like something you would see in a sci-fi anime then it does a kids show about stopping super villain adults.

Honestly, free MMOs peaked in the late 2000s. I remember spending many hours on the family computer playing Fusion Fall, Free Realms, and Wizard 101. Really wish I could go back to those days and play them. I could probably find an emulator or something, but it just wouldn't be the same.
Man, how did whoever created Eddy's design for FusionFall think that was even remotely passable, his design definitely takes the cake as the most cursed thing I've ever seen from this game.

the only things I remember about fusion fall is 1.) I really wanted to play it as a kid but never did and 2.) a vague memory of someone claiming that cartoon network made it to piggyback off the success of bleedman’s comics
I never got to play Fusion Fall when I was younger, but watching this makes me think I would've liked it. Someone made a comic that's kinda similar to this called Scoob and Shag, except it also has a bunch of characters from Nickelodeon and Disney. Wanna read Courage and Swiper getting into some sort of relationship while Inspector Gadget and Gerald try to fight a mutated Clone JFK? That's the comic to read.

This game was my childhood, I still remember how I got to lord Fuse early by the clever MMO strategy of "Follow other dumb players and slip past the monsters while they were dying".

They made a spin off called fusion fall heros and while it was not popular it was tied to the universe but I think the reason it failed was because of it being like a moba.
Was there any lore or was it just a spin off? Also wasn't Project Exonaut also connected to Fusionfall?
@@busa1951 The only 'lore' FusionFall Heroes had was that the heroes were taking the fight to Fuse directly. So it is canon to FusionFall, but the game's world never changed based on the missions you did outside of the game's tutorial, so it doesn't really contradict anything. Heroes actually had some characters not in the original FusionFall like Garnet from Steven Universe and Fiona from Adventure Time, so I guess it had that going for it. I know Project Exonaut was a thing, but I don't remember if it was connected to FusionFall, nor do I remember any of the lore behind that game.

I loved FusionFall. I was too young to understand or get far in it. But it was still so fun to me. I think it was made by a Korean company which is why it looked like an off-brand anime.

I closely followed fusionfall legacy when that project was still around. They tried to make new content based on total drama and basically spelled the end of the project. They also had a classic revival for all of the content before the academy update.
It's really weird to think about how so many shows we think are modern cartoon network like adventure time and the amazing world of gumball were in this
Those shows were added in through later updates, but yeah, ,it is weird to think that said shows got representation in a game this old. I think the newest shows to get representation were Steven Universe and Ben 10 Omniverse in FusionFall Heroes, so that gives you an idea of when FusionFall and such ended.
Come to think of it, it's kind of depressing to think that Cartoon Network shows we consider 'modern' are actually that old. Makes you realize the drop in the amount of cartoons from the 2000s to 2010s to now.

@@MarcusFigueras So, I was actually wrong about something in my original comment. Steven Universe doesn't have any representation in FusionFall or FusionFall Heroes. FusionFall Hereos released in March 2013, while Steven Universe first aired in November 2013, but no Steven Universe updates were made after the game released. Heck, I don't think FusionFall Heroes even got any post-launch content updates (the original was shutdown around the time Heroes launched if memory serves).
Adventure Time (2010), Regular Show (2010), and The Amazing World of Gumball (2011) all got representation in the original FusionFall through updates made after the initial release. Ben 10 Omniverse (2012) was only represented in FusionFall Heroes, and I think it was the most recent show the game used. So I was little off, but I think the point still stands.
Goddamn this game was my childhood, I miss it so much. The innocence of childhood mixed with the enjoyment of it that is, playing it an adult just doesn't have the same charm and wow-factor it did when I was 7.

For anyone curious about the nano lore; you defeat fuse's monsters and collect their fusion matter in your nanocom (top right). when you collect enough matter, you complete a mission to retrieve an NPC's stolen item from their fusion counterpart. as an example, samurai jack had one of his sandals stolen, so you defeat fusion jack to get it back. Once you have the stolen item, it gets combined with your fusion matter stockpile and a nano is made!
