One hell of a fish mate. Well done, Jesus what a battle That was kingy of a lifetime. Im amazed The amount of things that could of gone wrong... sharks, fish getting reefed, spear pulling out- but you kept ya head and played it like a pro. Awesome mate.
Great vid. So amazing you were able to capture that. I’m a firm believer in the high possibilities of minimal gear bringing down big fish. I know a commercial guy here in Thailand and he brings down huge cobia and he just always has a normal shaft with one barb and he does use a roller but I think even with well setup two banded traditional guns it’s almost like sky is the limit if the gun is setup well.
Hey bro what a awesome story, loved it. Video footage was a huge bonus bro , the tail that was told is epic man , I'll subscribe just because of that bro epic. Northland boy.
Awesome video brother, never would i have ever thought a big beast like that would be swimming in those waters, the kings iv seen there have always been pretty small, keep on being you brother
That's an amazing fish!! One thing to try if you're worried about the spear pulling if you can get close is to just stab it anywhere around the head even without having hold of the fish. It's a good trick to completely stun them for a handful of seconds then you can get a good hold of them. Just be careful with what you do with the knife then, and don't drop it.
My technique to subdue a big fish is to approach it from the side and push the spear right through then grab the head of the spear so that the spear is in both hands an the fish in the middle. I rap my legs around it and that is the end of him. Enjoyed the vid. Good vibes from Cape Town.
That is one Huuuuuge deserved horse right there brotha 👍 Sorta same scenario happen to me out Taipa with a 26kg Tāmure.Swam out 200-230Metres - (5-8m Depth) - Ready my floatline - I set bombs from my bag that way I can taste test😅 Got a similar shot off and this fish was on fire running around with a disengaged flopper😨with no other choice because I forgot my knife … Fought him grabbed him applied the bearhug 😂 And swam him back to shore going nuts, pulling my catchbag full and my gun and line everywhere. Made it back onshore safely and my missus and baby just tripped. Definitely my most memorable moment out and to see it happen all over again with few differences in your dive gave me goosebumps bro. Ps. Sorry for the mass speech bro and all the best for your future dives ⭐️⭐️⭐️
That is a good story right there mate. I'm shocked that this fish didn't beat me up more than it did. Always nerving when a flopper doesn't disengage, cheers for sharing your yarn man🤟
@@outdoortales8069 wish my spearfishing was that good when I go there biggest fish I've speared is a 15lb snapper I was stoked hopefully to get one this big in the future
You can clearly tell you don't know the first thing about spearfishing, so many mistakes, obviously got lucky finding that fish and most importantly that he didn't break free or get attacked by other fish, but the one thing i don't condone is why not kill it instantly when you get it, instead of putting your hands in his head like what are you doing, if you want to make him bleed for the meat to taste better is fine, but stab it in the head first so it doesn't soffer, such an awful human being.
Mean yarn mate. So lucky no toothies turned up. Good job 👍🏽
Mean bro, good watch! Unreal fish and better yet off a shore dive, going to be hard for anyone to beat that! wicked man and memory all on film.

Mean!!! $8.00 burnsco, blue diving knife epic fish bro!

I wouldve been scared of losing my gun if that thing took off. Brave shooting that without a reel or a float.

@@outdoortales8069 wish my spearfishing was that good when I go there biggest fish I've speared is a 15lb snapper I was stoked hopefully to get one this big in the future
I was going to say that the fish looks nowhere near 42kg until you mentioned that your 6"6' and that people your height always make fish look smaller
yeah mate its always a pain holding fish no one thinks it either until i tell them I'm a giant.

Didn't want to loose it so got a bloody good grip then put it on the line.
so far out, so easy for a white to take a bite....
