Back in the old days, while working in the Ethiopian Airlines, we used to listen this relaxing and energizing music. No wonder why the lion is still roaring and running!!!
Name of artist- Mulatu Astatke Born 19 December 1943. An Ethiopian musician, composer and arranger considered as the father of Ethio-jazz. INSTRUMENTS- Vibraphone, conga drums, keyboards, organ, percussion instruments... STUDIES - Mulatu's family sent him to learn engineering in Wales during the late 1950s. Instead, he began his education at Lindisfarne college before earning a degree in music through studies musically trained in Trinity college of music London, New York City, and Burklee college of music Boston where he combined his Jazz and Latine music interests with traditional Ethiopian music. wish him a long live!
I did a quick Google search and not seeing Mulatu having anything to do with this album other than the obvious influence. Please double check your information. And at the very least include Malik and Chris
I have been looking for this album a better part of my life . Oh my goodness!!! It took back to my bittersweet memories of childhood. Thanks for uploading!!!
Did you grow up in Ethiopia? Or is the music of your parents? Having been raised by my Minnesotan Presbyterians, the music of my childhood is Perry Como and Julie London. Okay, I guess but not as exciting and exotic as THIS. This music is gorgeous and evocative of someplace far away and unreachable. Beautiful!!
@@cjmg321 i meant I grew up in Ethiopia and one of the albums I remember listening to is this. It provokes the good old time of my childhood. I will check those of your albums you mentioned.
when i first find this music while filing a gas in a Total gas station i almost get crazy with the melodies and i still feel it again. Thank for Malaki who loaded this great 👍 great music.

The first day it came out i find the cassette from a 🚗 Dancing ,moving with a big coat and haggling myself and going high. my friend was laughing but for me i was touched inside and to be honest i am still feeling that sense. Oh yo my Day Malik thank you 🙏🏽 ❤❤❤
I don't know how this video found me, but I'm so glad it did. I love the tasteful, groovy melodies in each of these tracks. @15:13 and @30:58 are my favorites.
The melody and the atmosphere of Ethio-Jazz songs and those of Japanese Enka songs (popular songs using the traditional Japanese pentatonic scale played in small jazz combo style) are very much alike!! They are almost identical!! Unbelievable!

true
Humanity is a village
The absence of percussion or the very low mix of the drums gives it a haunting soundtrack feel. Makes me want to drop some boombap on it.😎
