The tapes are like the best of AA with zero fluff or BS. You'll definitely get more out of them than meetings in terms of knowledge about the program, but it's apples to oranges comparing them to the fellowship.
I know what you mean. Some meetings it isn't clear what AA's mission is. Also there's some that use the podium to speak another language. Their other language is called "victimease". Most of them are dry and not working the steps. Good meetings have enthusiasm about working the steps. They make you want to read the Big Book. The members are a fellowship, always lending a hand or an ear to each other. They don't talk bad about the newcomers because they see themselves in them. Quite the contrary they seek them out to help them get in the book and steps. When asked how they are doing they don't say "just hanging in there". They talk about living and the joy Of helping others.
TY so much! Long-term Sandy B fan - but getting a LOT especially from Bob B. on this one! So very much appreciate the way it's broken down to the essentials here.
Sandy B. has been instrumental in my early recovery. I hear the spirit of God and well being in every talk. so grateful that all these oldtimers have carried the message for a drunk like me.
Always LOVE listening to sandy! Bob along with him is such a added bonus! Man, to have been around while he was alive! Can’t wait to meet him and chuck and Clancy one day!
Speaker from 148: to 2 something is a fantastic description of step 4. Really if you are like me 5 years clean (i do NA) and have compulsive habits much like drug addiction this is a must listen.
I have listened hundreds of times. If you have a compulsive behavior making your life unmanageable list Len to this segment and understand “the way out is through the fire, the fire is an illusion”.
Right on Bob!!👏 Today’s society is not taught dependence on God like back in 30’s so some people are easily offended by “churched” people like me to their demise
Does that make you special or different? We are all the same as far as alcoholism is concerned. So tuck in your shirt because your insanity is showing.
I have dependence on a God of my understanding, which doesn't involve going to church. That doesn't make my sobriety any less or better than those who do attend church. Practice spirituality how ever you choose but AA doesn't put demands on how each person decides to do that.
Physical is 10% of the drinking problem. If you don't conquer the physical issue you won't get to the rest of the problem which is mental, emotional and spiritual; not necessarily in that order.
For me to "conquer" the 10% physical, I have to take the steps which means to me surrendering to the process of recovery. Step 1-powerless and unmanageable. That's the only step I have to take 100%. Page 33 of the BB..."there must be no reservation of any kind, nor any lurking notion that someday we will be immune to alcohol". The rest centers in my mind. But once the steps are taken and we have a spiritual awakening as the result of the steps we straighten out mentally. Thank God we have a solution! 🤗❤🙏
@@1threat2humanityakausa25 Good for you. Keep upping your game ! Stick with the winners. Get wise old sponsors. Do the 12. Attend meetings and listen ! And it works for those who also serve other new drunks.

I am a Al anon and just love listening to Sandy give his story. It helps me understand the disease a little bit more. God Bless you all.
I have listened to hundreds of recovery talks. I think this one has the most depth for the real alcoholic. Amazing.
Great hearing Bob D. and Sandy B., excellent talks and thank the program and you tube
Another great day to be alive sober clean
I think I get more out of speaker tapes than I do actual meetings
❤ the meeting are to create a fellowship. However i understand.
I'll have to do the best I can listening to these tapes as I'm on the middle East working and don't have access to meetings 😢
Please don't attend meets for what you can "get." Go there prepared to "give." You'll be infinitely happier.

The 1st step is to admit I need help from my daily reprieve of alcohol/drugs. November 9th made one year this year.🙏🏿
Great job man I have 146 Days no booze or drugs by the grace of GOD
God willing you’re still on the beam 🙏🏼
I'm so blessed by your sobriety for 1 year and 3 months now, as of this entry, my friend.
Keep Going, no matter what!!!!
Here’s to two.
This was great to listen to, really inspirational.
I wonder if I will make a long time achievement with time and council.
One day at time is what gets you there I've been told. I'm still working on that.

Fantastic content.
Thank you

AA took all human hope from people. . .only a spiritual power could help.
