You perfectly encapsulate the appropriate tactics for an LMG. Your job is to provide support by fire for the rest of the squad, not to run and gun. As long as you stick with your team, you can mop up with one. I agree with your proposed changes to the bipod. In RL, when you have your bipod set up you lean into it in the prone and the SAW becomes a laser beam.
Just from the in-game perspective too, it makes no sense to ever use it if you can achieve similar accuracy without having to be immobile with a bipod set up
If you're an ULTIMAX-100 user, let me know your loadout / tips for it here so that I can give it a fair review when it's time comes, based on how this one went I've not got high hopes!
stability grip to remove 95% of the first shot kick, 2x slip scope to take advantage of how low horizontal kick it has. long or short supressor to remove muzzle flash add some velocity and make it a bit harder for people to find you.(good for shooting from less obvious places)
I found ultimax worked fine with a bipod. Set up a nice angle on a squad in a trench and you can take them all out with the very low recoil. I ran lighter armour OR lighter helmet for better run speed for positioning. However the MG36 does the exact same thing but with 1 less bullet to kill, so its a bit ehhh. Since all these guns have a 0.3 ADS time, it is worth trying the angled grip as that has a big impact on these weapons and pushes them in line with Assault Rifles running the URK.
I wanna say that the m249 with a flir optic can hold off waves of enemies. you can peek and spray and shoot anything with heat signature. thats how i play this gun. i literally spray at anything with a heat signature and can hold off waves of enemies. i build layered forts with barbed wire and mines and fall back when overrun. i basically look at the map and just play the map by where my team is and just spray to kill/wound anything with a heat signature. if theres enemies in a wood line i continously spray there till enough friends are there to move forward. i build forts every 30-40 yards when moving up then barb wire and lay mines when moving back. support class can be OP. i play to win the match though, not only for kills. it feels good when youre winning fights against snipers and then holding off ten effing players with the m249 and you survive. its really fun.
I don't blame you, each class passive abilities are communicated NOWHERE in the game to you. It would be nice if they all had a little text box in the loadout screen that said what benefits each of them gave for more casual players.
I think my highest vechile stat is 16 kills with a jeep, so I'm really not that guy. I'd have to clock quite a few hours first before bringing anything of value worth posting!
M249 is a great weapon that needs to be for those who stick with their team or the person who has crap aim. Gun go Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I think you actually need pretty decent aim for it, because it's ttk is too low to be missing bullets. Not sure there is a weapon that's good for poor aim to be honest? maybe the Rpg...
This gun I've never clicked with. All the other support tools I can manage, but not this one. Will give your maximum horizontal reduction kit a try. Really sad that it can't fulfil the "Long range flank" role, since that is support's highest kill gameplan. Maybe they can give it an ADS buff one day so at least you can run in like rambo with it!
interesting, it must have some kick with that setup. It's the kind of gun where the URK grip isn't going to really matter as if you need to reload and there's a person, you're dead either way (and it's too infrequent to stress about).
I know what you mean, it's multi-killing ability is quite poor, but then again if it were good at that it might be TOO good with 100 rounds. hard to balance!
@@ClippyTactical i think it'd be perfectly balanced. With the recoil and the 3 shot per hit kill, sometimes 4. Unless far away I get swarmed so easily it feels like I'm shooting foam nerf darts
Sigh, the bipod used to behave exactly what you would expect from a bipod and the m249 with bipod behaved about the same as the one in insurgency sandstorm, until everyone decided that being sniped by rooftop lmg gunners wasn't fun anymore. That said the current performance of the bipod is definitely a overreaction from the devs.
I feel like people are going to complain no matter what to be honest! Getting 1 shot through exo helms would 100% keep them balanced because sniper has quickest TTK, it's just balanced by player skill. So an average player would do better with a bipod MG, but a cracked sniper, even now, is a much bigger issue
My man, the M249 was my baby for 16 years, I use it constantly in this game. Glad to see it get some love!
Nice, that's cool, hope you liked the vid!

I just run and gun with the ultimax, idk what I use but I can hip fire really well close up

I'll be testing all these loadouts and hopefully I like one of them!
It's a ranged MG, so treat it like the M249 but a laser easily up to medium range.
Build it for bipod passive, or horizontal recoil active playstyle.
1/4 of 1K, keep on growing!
I use M249 as an anti-air gun against pesky helis.
You've just given me a meme idea
Get a group together all with M249's and just mess about shooting down helis. Sounds stupid and like a good time
Hit marker porn.
Would be funer to get a full squad of M249s and load them up in a blackhawk raining down fire with the 2 minis all at once.
I’ve had some success with the urk + flash hider and echo scope. This gun does very well for me with a medium or long range setup.
You must be a lot better than me at recoil control, 3x scope is basically 3xing it's already bad recoil stats so I definitely couldn't manage it!
My recoil control is only ok but being stationary and staying far definitely helps give more time@@ClippyTactical

finally someone who isn't simping for the M2
👍 ULTIMAX, however 👀
mp 7 guide would be great
Definitely, already got this one cooking!
My first favorite weapon!
Nice! Hope i did it justice by giving it a fair try!
Oh man, I didn't even realize that about barriers. I was wondering why sometimes they pop up complete, then not. I thought it was a bug.

I think an FN P90 guide would also be quite nice.
Definitely!
It's nice you do all these guns, but maybe a vehicle guide will fit well?

On certain maps in rush mode for defence, the M249 is really crazy. I got a 60 kill game in 32v32 with it.
Nice, I'd guess you're holding down a chokepoint? That's the kind of design I wish the MG's were balanced around
@@ClippyTactical I was holding a bridge so hard that they gave up on it

I don't want to just play like two p90's strapped together, I think it just needs it's own identity as a defensive, chokepoint holding tool
Can you have an AK15 build?
Please do G3..❤❤❤❤
What loadout do you use? I think it's quite a weak gun right now - but will of course do my best to give it a fair review.
@@ClippyTactical 2x scope, barrel with least horizontal recoil, grip with lowest vertical and horizontal recoil, sry I don’t remember names
is it good for pre-firing corners when clearing a room?
It definitely can, it's not like you'll run out of shots, but the problem with it is just how slowly you move with it ready at hip / aiming
i play with the urk-grip and SON6762
