What are your thoughts about DCC?
I agree completely regarding Victoria. But I don't know, Victoria's Mom pointed out how popular Victoria is in all other aspects of her life, but in the DCC environment, she'd sort of not be so popular... look at this season for instance, it almost looked like she was somehow not part of the family... And in all honesty, I feel like Victoria is such a sweet human being, isn't it?
@@tshenolomxathule734 yes! I agree that she thrives in other settings except DCC...which should be a red flag for her not to try out for another year honestly.
@@KiaundraJackson In the last episode, I think she said she was not going to audition again... She mentioned something about putting her pom-poms away or something... But yeah, one thing she said that made me proud of her... She said something about her not needing to prove her value and worth
@@KiaundraJackson I was never on any kind of athletic team. The people who are/were all seem to think being treated like this and damaging your body and mental health is normal. Maybe it is. 🤷🏾♀️ But that doesn't make it okay. Hip replacements in your 20s and 30s just to be able to say you were a DCC?! 😳 I don't get it.
@@lisajackson9431 it's hard to wrap our heads around for sure.🤯
I was blown away about how nice these women are and how much of their health they were willing to sacrifice for the jump splits. Hip replacements before 30! Crazy
Facts! Those jump splits does so much damage but nobody seems to care😫
@@KiaundraJackson Yeah! Caroline, Anna- Kate's sister had to have hip and foot surgeries after her last year of DCC
@@tshenolomxathule734 that's TOUGH on the body, especially at such a young age. Sounds painful too😳
@@KiaundraJackson Can we also speak about that girl that got molested on AT&T stadium grounds. It was said in the episodes that the AT&T stadium is on the Guinness book of world records for the most amount of TV's. So if there's so many TV's in the stadium, must mean that there are many cameras too. So how did the molester get released, due to lack of evidence? Why was there a lack of evidence? It makes zero sense to me at all. This girl was meant to get justice... The pervert was supposed to get jail time. What are your thoughts on this?
@@tshenolomxathule734 I don't think she got the support she needed (from Kelly, Judy or the police). That part of the episode fell flat for me. Or maybe the organization & stadium didn't want any negative publicity so they "made it go away." I'm not sure but that's a guess lol
I felt so bad for the bus driver! He said that he had been wanting to quit, but Kelly wouldn’t let him and you could see that he was visibly shaking the first time he appeared on the show. Then he ended up in the hospital. He doesn’t even have access to go into the stadium and use the restroom while he’s waiting out by the bus. Awful treatment.
I completely forgot about this part! Thank you for bringing this up. Yes, I seen he was shaking too while driving. That was so unsafe for all of them. Also, the fact that he couldn't get credentials to get into the games was sad. Why not give him a badge so he can have access too💔
What’s upsetting is they don’t get paid much. One of them stated that they make as much as a full time Chick-fil-A employee. Meanwhile their football players make bank. They say they don’t have height or weight requirements but their actions show the contrary. Let’s be honest they will never put a woman who has some jiggle.
They should be paid well, especially for all they put up with. They would NEVER allow a full-figured woman. They do not allow all body types.
Even the actors who play the team mascots and the people who bring water to the players on the field earn more money than the cheerleaders.
@@bibianaguadalupeislasherre9880 that's so true! That's unacceptable🙅🏾♀️
IF they are lucky it's about $75,000 a year there numbers floating around the internet.
They kicked out a girl for being too short, so there is no way they would allow a woman with a different body type…
They were so brutal with Victoria. 💔 “you’re not thin like you were last year, your energy is just off different from last year, you just don’t have it anymore Victoria “ 😢 oof I hated that for her
And even though she said she wasn't coming back. Rumor has it that she's currently in auditions again🤦🏾♀️. She is on the brink of a psychotic break. I see all the red flags💔
@@KiaundraJackson same, girl, same 💔 she seemed so broken and defeated 😞
@@mommak10 I REALLY want her to prioritize her mental health FIRST. 😔
@@KiaundraJacksonI heard she’s in NY auditioning for the Rockettes

Victoria was one that was worried me even while she was on CMT Making the Team.
She concerned me the most out of everyone (and the other women to lost her dad to $uicide). I'm glad Victoria decided not to come back another year. It was too much for her mentally and I saw too many red flags. Almost like she was on the brink of a psychotic breakdown💔

You don’t understand how excited I was to watch this series on Netflix considering the fact that when I was little I looked up to them, and even wanted to be a dcc cheerleader. However, when I watched it my 6 year old self was crushed! The amount of toxic beauty standards, diets, and mental ab*se that was projected onto these girls really turned me away! I loved your commentary sis! You clocked them 👏🏽
Thank you for watching! I think many ppls dreams were crushed after watching this. Let's just say you saved yourself so much heartache by NOT being a DCC
7:48 it says they have to say “yes maim” in their contract. i also don’t think kelli or judy had any real dance background, beside being on DCC in the 70’s when the technique wasn’t at all like it is today. i never saw them actually give technical feedback, it was fascinating.
Whoa! I didn't know about the yes ma'am in the contract part. When the were showing the older dancers from the 70s & 80s...I thought most of them couldn't dance or didn't have much rhythm🙈
@@KiaundraJacksonthat part
That's a great point. I watched the series years ago and you're right besides DCC we have never seen them give any actual dance direction.
I've been watching DCC since the show was on CMT, and I still don't get how Judy is their choreographer. She shouts corrections at them, but I've never seen her physically demonstrate any of the dance moves.
@@stephanies3862 that's such a valid point!
I’ve finished it finally. I cried when they started removing their make up, but I am so relieved to know that Victoria has decided to hang up her uniform. She really was trying to be like her mom and not do DCC for her and because that’s what she wanted to do. Yes the identity crisis was paramount.
I heard that she's trying out for the next season currently even though she said she wouldn't
@@KiaundraJackson Wow! I’m just glad that Kitty wasn’t involved this season.

I watched DCC and now I am watching the Raiderettes on YT. Such a massive difference the Raiderettes have mental health services for their dancers.
Oh wow! I'll have to check that out. I LOVE that they have mental health services🙌🏾
I liked the cheerleaders more than I expected to. They seemed like genuinely good people. I also liked how the filmmakers went in depth about the darker side of each woman’s history. I was utterly disgusted at how the Cowboys Cheerleaders owner justified paying them minimum wage. These are serious athletes. They have so many expenses to be on the team, they get lifelong injuries from cheering, and they shouldn’t have to work a full time job then run to practice just to survive. To pay them a pittance and justify it by saying “it’s an honor just to be here” is so slimy and patronizing. I can’t remember what the two women who lead them are called, but their tough love comes off as playing favorites and bullying at times. Reducing a woman to tears isn’t good leadership, in my opinion. P.S. I just found your channel and I love you!
They suffer alot and experience life-changing moments & injuries. I like them so much! It just showed how the organization changes these awesome women (not necessarily for better).
Thank you for your kind words & for subscribing💕
Couldn't agree more with you
I work at the Star and I’ve run into a couple of them up there. Every one I’ve met have been so genuinely humble and kind. I was pleasantly surprised. They do have heart.
I always used to watch because they have these “perfect” figures, and amazing talent. I always wondered what Kelly and Judy could possibly say to critique them. Also, I’ve spoken to Kelly and she is a super snot. I remember just being friendly and she is cold as ice. But I mean, I am overweight, soooo there’s that haha I was only mildly surprised.
@@siprinamerino1162 thx for sharing your experience. No one should be mean to you just because you're overweight. That was not okay!
Basically these girls make an annual salary of 30k, meanwhile the mascot makes more like 60k with benefits. Benchwarmers on the football teams even make like 100k and never even play. But the privilege of cheering for the Dallas Cowboys should be enough, when that pays my bills then great but til then make it make sense!!
The mascot makes more ?!?
He’s a full time employee with a real salary and does a lot of community engagements and other things every though the girls do too

One of the main things that bothered me from the show is the mentality the cheerleaders have that DCC is worth evrything. The cheerleader they showed that she had been in DCC for 5 yrs and needed surgery on her hip and foot, ahe said it was worth it. How can it be worth it if u live in a shoebox apartment with your sister, having had two surgeries and stuck not being able to move forwars with plans for the future? I think is sad and alarming to think thay way.
I agree! Their lives are completely altered but maybe that just don't see the impact fully. I think it will hit all of them at a later time. Thank you for taking time to watch my review & comment💕
There are 5 black girls on the team, two light skinned ( possibly mixed), one brown skinned, and two chocolate dark skinned.
Thanks for clarifying!
Unfortunately they were mostly seen but hardly heard on the Netflix documentary 👎
@@dcamilleC THIS.
i watched the whole show. i grew up watching training camp (😵💫so damaging lol) so i had to see this. i didn’t appreciate them glossing over all the BS these women have to go through to maybe get picked, and then to fight to stay on the team.
at the end of the show, when Victoria said she was gonna come back for a 5th year. my heart broke. then she said she changed her mind and is gonna focus on her health and i was SO happy. but the damage has been done. i feel bad for these girls. it’s like they are fighting to stay in a toxic relationship.
and don’t get me started on the blatant sexism with their pay 🤨🥱 i can’t!!!
thank you for covering this i just discovered your channel!
They were trying to cover up so much! I'm happy for Victoria. She made the best decision for herself. Thanks for watching and subscribing💕
I remember watching season 1 on CMT after bingeing worlds strictest parents as a child. Season 1 was insane. To gloss over the DCC media history was a miss. I feel like this could've been more complex and honest, but I get it, they have to keep the magic.
The creepy guys that gravitate toward them, and the loss of personal authenticity really worried me. It doesn't seem like a safe activity, in any way. It's super hard on their bodies, minds and spirits. What appears like total perfection, isn't even enough to be successful. Definitely doesn't meet the standards of relationship harmony. Safety, authentic expression and trust/stability are absent. The instant comradary may be a trauma bond too. The cheerleaders seemed like nice people. They truly want to be a part of the organization. If there were such unreasonable expectations between me and my dream job, I'm not sure if I would be able to sacrifice so much of my identity to get my goal.
Great analysis as always! Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this! It definitely feels like a trauma bond. You are right! If any other job had these demands, it would be unacceptable
Excellent points! I agree 100%!!!
that's a cult. from the very first episodes, i knew it was a cult.
I never thought of it as a cult but you are right!
They were heavily on the God complex as opposed to helping them maintain their sanity while doing this and that I did not appreciate. Heavy on the Judy and Kelli worship. And you are so right if they were financially compensated for what they do they wouldn’t be so stressed out.
Facts!
Totally agree on the fake preacher
Hi, Kiaundra,
Thank you for the review. I am 58 years old and fell in love with the DCCs when I was a little girl in the 70's. They are the reason that my favorite football team is the Dallas Cowboys. Loving them is very confusing for all of the reasons you listed in your review. On one hand I admire these ladies for their athleticism and on the other I am really disappointed in the organization they represent. They are treated terribly. I don't believe any of the sexist things they put up with have changed at all in 40 years sadly.
Heeeyyy! Thank you for watching my review. You would think after all these years that things would change for the better💔
To understand this nonsense, you need to understand Jerry Jones. After that, it all makes total sense.
Uh oh! What foolishness has he done?
@@KiaundraJackson Jerry Jones is like 112 years old, and the owner of the Cowboys. Everyone in the sports world makes fun of him. He’s ALWAYS out in front of the cameras giving statements and putting in his two cents. The coaches and players can’t stand him. I guarantee everything that has to do with the DCC goes through Charlotte first, who dare not make a move without her dad’s permission. He runs every aspect of that organization. And he’s cheap as hell.
@@MSUSPARTANS1973 WELL SAID! He's a billionaire but he can't pay these cheerleaders a decent salary? It disgusts me.
It’s so gross
I just finished the series. If I never hear Thunderstruck again it will be soon. 😵💫
🤣🤣🤣
I agree I used to like that song and I detest it now.
My My.. watching this just makes me think of how many individuals loose themselves in their careers while missing out on time with their own families.. Also lets say it for the folks in the back, the Cowboys franchise is one of the richest out there, why aren't they compensating these women for there hard work and dedication to the organization. The same way the NFL, NBA etc. are incorporating Mental Health providers in their organizations why aren't they (meaning the organizations) extending that service to the there cheerleaders/dancers- they work very hard.
Everything you said was right on point & true! I guess that's why the NFL keeps getting sued about this very thing in regards to all their cheerleaders
One thing that surprised me was that they cut the girl that didn’t fit the line because she was too short. Kelly and Judy just made a spontaneous decision to cut her even though she had everything else they wanted. The other thing was when the girls were told they got cut, those girls pleaded and begged Kelly and Judy to stay with the team, I felt sad for those girls.
That was the saddest part. They wanted to stay and begged them. Even asking for extra time to get better💔🥺
I found the series to be SO eye-opening. Those women are completely taken advantage of and I couldn't believe how much these young women are prepared to sacrifice to be a part of it!?!?! I don't get it when they are so smart and seemingly successful in their regular life outside of the DCC. What a price to pay and for what exactly? 🤔
Yes! Very true🎯
If dance and performing is your passion then thats the "what". If you know you know. You can't fulfill that itch anywhere else. Even if it is sad to see, I don't think it's that far fetched but I guess it's because I used to be apart of this world.
@@wetwicksdry thank you for sharing your thoughts on this!
@@KiaundraJackson of course. Thanks for the video!

They don’t have to retire after 5 years! I think a lot of them just choose to because it takes a toll on their body. There was one girl who stayed for 9 years!
Oh wow! I didn't know that. I thought you only had up to 5 years to be in DCC. Thanks for letting me know
It was 2 sisters who stayed for 8 years.
Jenna stayed for 6 years, Sydney stayed for 7years. But the average is 4 years.
But the chances of them getting cut increase year on year so I think they unconsciously don't want to put themselves through auditions if there is a high risk of being cut. It's subtil but Kelly and Trish convey that message when they keep insisting "new blood is fresher". Also look at how they reacted to Victoria asking them if she should come back or not...
@@petilili1976 this is very true! Thank you for saying this
I thought I was the only one who felt this way. Thanks for speaking on this. ❤
You're very welcome! Thank you for taking time to watch my review.
I thought the scene with the Christmas tree was disgusting. Imagine the hypervigilance they would need to have to avoid being scolded in front of the team..
She talked to them like they were little children in that moment
I cried several times through this series because of the toxic culture of this team and the culture of unrealistic beauty standards. These women project confidence but you see it’s not real. And then to see what they’re paid and know all that tiny bit of money is going to beauty upkeep. It’s awful!
And then add to it, the delusion of adding religion into it and a jesus culture thinking somehow people will know jesus through watching them dance 🙄🙄🙄.
It blows my mind that they continue to go through all of this year after year🤯
Their choice to feature Reese who honestly didnt have an interesting backstory (oh wait she never had Starbucks before) was bizarre. Like she got a lot of coverage. I wasn't buying her at all
It seemed like she was sheltered & didn't have many experiences that "normal" ppl have everyday. No Starbucks or bf before etc
I’ve watched CMT‘s making the team which basically has the same information as America’s sweethearts. I’ve seen two episodes of America sweethearts which basically has the same information, but the Netflix documentary goes a little deeper
I didn't know it was similar content. I've never watched Making the Team honestly. Was there anything new that shocked you?
The shocking part was and how they leave work and go straight to DCC and the salary. It was also shocking to hear the CEO of the organization, completely gloss over the fact that these girls deserve to be paid much more. She’s talking about it’s a privilege to be a part of DCC.
@@SheniceSays214 Right! Privilege doesn't pay bills lol
@@KiaundraJacksonOh its crazy in earlier seasons. They told women that they looked like strippers, trashy said one had quads like drumsticks. You should check out the earlier seasons of Making the Team. It was even worse. And they encourage them to compare themselves to the Vets. They fired girls for having pics in bathing suits on their Facebook page but it's ok as long as DCC profits...then it's fine to throw them in the Swimsuit Calendar. But all the Seasons are on Paramount Plus right now.
It’s a cult. And Charlotte is their leader.
Ugh …Victoria. I’ve always been worried about her. If you didn’t watch the original series, she grew up with Kelly and Judy’s daughters. The moms were best friends and the girls grew up as best friends. Kelly and Judy were her aunties. As a DCC, she never quite got their approval, so it’s like she was rejected by her family in many ways. Plus here mom was a little off. Sounds like her Dad was abusive.
Mad props to her that she was finally able to leave on her own terms 🙏🏼
Reece was the most interesting to me because she just seems 100 % pure but yet her dream was to be this sexy provocative dancer. Weird and fascinating at the same time.
Wait! Who is Charlotte?
Unfortunately, I heard Victoria is already auditioning again. She just can't seem to let DCC go💔
@@KiaundraJackson charlotte is Jerry Jones (owner of cowboys) daughter. She’s the head person of the cheerleaders. Rarely shown. Makes ALL the final decisions regarding the girls. The episode of the finale 2 cuts - she makes it clear who she wants Kelly to cut ( the pretty small girl who auditioned 2 years ago).
I’ve heard conflicting stories about whether Victoria went back or not. Some say she’s currently in trading camp. Some say she’s in New York pursuing dancing. Wish her the best 🙏

Very shocking indeed!
I have often wondered if these women are malnourished to the point that their menstrual cycles stop. Kelli & Judi ( BUT ESPECIALLY KELLI) are VERY emotionally abusive. I believe they get a sick thrill out of lording over these women, making them ALWAYS smile ( even when being ripped a new one!) and say 'Yes Ma'am '. It's very damaging. O and Kelli loves salting some various ethnicities into her squad (not too many though!) And these women not getting paid properly is BS. Just no Baby! Know your worth! Thank you for your review!
Their menstrual cycles stopping could be a real thing. It's VERY much abusive and has long-term impacts. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts on this!
I told my sister the same thing. What if they are having a bad period??!! I’m sure they are told to change their feminine products very very very often.
Right! I think every woman has had an unexpected accident from time to time.
There are contraceptive measures where you have no period at all. So maybe that's what they use
Exactly!!! Victoria wasn’t fat IN THE LEAST. She was an amazing dancer! The “extra weight “ she had could have been muscle, and that little pooch of fat in those stupid low cut hot shorts is a NATURAL NORMAL thing for women. We have extra fat over our reproductive organs to protect them! The fact that their standard is against normal human female bodies is insane!
I find it disturbing that a lot of the men lusting over these women probably have daughters or granddaughters the exact same age. Ew.
I also noticed the extreme lack of diversity. There is much less so on other NFL cheerleading squads.
That is a VERY good point! It raises so many questions... and eyebrows
My thoughts were are the women able to have children. Because there hips were destroyed and they weren’t paid a salary that made it worth it.
Fame, fortune and addiction is something that keeps people coming back for more.
I did love the series and the excitement.
It was presented as a tight knit community. Which was nice.
The damage to their hips made me question if it was worth it.
I agree! So much to consider and wonder if it was all worth it🤔
I heard they used to have mandatory daily weigh-ins!
Yes! I watched another docu on DCC from 2018 on Tubi called 'Daughters of the Sexual Revolution: The untold story of DCC' and I learned so much more😲

As a ginger, it really bothered me that one of the first things they said about Charly was that she needed a makeover. When she was equally as naturally beautiful as the rest of the auditionees.
It seemed like they were extra hard on her and were looking for absolutely any excuse to get her off the team, when there were clearly weaker people still on the squad.
I've been bullied my entire life for being ginger, and it bothered me that this contributed to societies idea that gingers are not naturally attractive.
It also really bothered me that they seemed to be much harder on women of colour.
I'm so sorry you experienced this! The way they wanted to do a makeover on them was disgusting. Just allow them to naturally be who they are. Nothing wrong with enhancing their beauty but completely changing it is unacceptable
And Kellie kept implying that Charley was not clean. Yet Charley went back the following year. This team has a hold on them somehow.
I wonder if there they keep the women at disadvantage so they can control them better. A former cheerleader said that they were trauma bonded.

First I must say I’m a DALLAS COWBOYS fan all day, everyday!!!
Now to the show, this is the 2nd show I’ve watched about them many years apart and sadly nothing has changed. Dallas is considered America’s team so that probably accounts for the perfection they require along with Jerry Jones craziness. It is sad what they go through (
Sort of reminds me of the early Laker girls.) The legacy DCC’s really have it bad, that pressure from family along with the team makes me wonder how they do it.
It apparently take a strong, dedicated woman to be on the squad I pray they learn to protect themselves mentally, emotionally and physically while they’re doing what they seem to love.
Thank you so much for watching & sharing your perspective in this! I was blown away at what they sacrificed & endured😢
Can we talk about the weird Cowboys/Dallas-themes church some of them were attending? Like what was that?
Great point! I've never heard of the churches they referred to but I think that was added in there for hype (maybe). That whole "God loves Dallas" was a bit strange
I used to watch this show religiously ,and ive noticed quite a few things that turned me off and caused me to no longer watch this show..My heart really goes out to them for how much scrutiny they go through from having to look an ideal way.
I agree! I couldn't do it at all💔
I hope this exposure highlights all that needs to change within this organization. It's truly quite shocking what is going on here.

They cut a girl for being short, Id love a law suit
Oh wow! They should just have a height requirement if they are going to keep doing stuff like that
@@KiaundraJacksonKelly mentioned they should start implementing it.
I'm not even sure if they could sue honestly. I am very short and always knew this would hinder me in the dance world. So I had to dance my ass off to still get the spots i deserved despite me height but when it comes to professional dancing its all about the levels of those lines. Where they can place each dancer to make it balanced to the eyes of the audience. Not excusing it because I really wished I could have had a longer career dancing but it is the reality and has been from the beginning.

I agree! I definitely think there will be a Season 2. Victoria needs to focus on self for sure
As a British viewer who doesn’t watch American Football and has little knowledge of that world, it reminded me of a dancing Barbie Cult. I thought the women were incredible dancers but gaslighted, for example, fuel yourself properly, and then next breath, erm have you put on weight? I was also struck by the lack of diversity. The comment to Anisha seemed off to me about her not having the proper training/ dance foundation. She was bloody incredible and not sure what they were getting at. She was my favourite and I loved her audition ❤❤😢 I really felt for Victoria and the girl who lost her dad to suicide. I also thought how nice the women were. Little Reece looks like she could be swallowed up by it all . Very sweet but seemed vulnerable.
I'm still stuck at the part where you stated "A Dancing Barbie Cult."
Thank you for watching & sharing your comments on this!
I don't know about Kelly and Judy though, they strike me as mean girls a little bit. But the mean girls who pretend to be nice to your face. Which is the worst kind I think.
I definitely see your perspective!
I agree I also felt it was abusive in the sense that they seemed to pick out invisible faults
Wheeewwww! I couldn't believe how they picked apart their individual photos about small things that didn't matter. Ugh!
Their show on CMT had been running since 2006
Oh wow! I didn't know it has been on for so long. I've never watched it honestly
@KiaundraJackson it's worth a watch. You'd have a field day with all the ways they would measure body fat percentages in the early seasons. They were much harsher back then
I’m completely in agreement with everything that you said.
Thank you for watching💕
I felt so sad for those who literally had no plans past DCC. You train to get there knowing you only have a very small number of years to do it and you have no plans past that?
This is a great point! I think it goes back to the loss of identity part I talked about
I started watching this yesterday, and I remember watching Making the Team some years ago. With the accelerated BFF phenomenon, it definitely is understandable that they become so close in short amount of time. They’re going through a high stress, traumatic experience together (short term with auditions and training camp, and long term if they actually make the team). It’s really sad. On top of that, they are over worked and underpaid. Like, why are the cheerleaders expected to “just be grateful” and see this as an honor, making minimum wage when we know DCC leadership are making money for sure - I would be surprised if they were making less than 6-figures. It’s giving control and abuse in my opinion.
It's absolutely giving control and abuse! You are so right ✅️
I saw this series as a German Netflix viewer and was both fascinated and shocked. DCC is professionalized (self-)exploitation on all levels: psychological, physical and economic. It is a fanatical, superficial and toxic world from the start. All things that a sisterhood or sorority, as was celebrated at the end, should never be based on.
Thank you for watching & sharing your thoughts on this!
They are really hard on them, its military style. I personally would feel very unhappy & I imagine most of them do & just don't say it. They take awful advantage of those young girls.
Very hard on them. I wouldn't be able to do it. 🙅🏾♀️🙅🏾♀️🙅🏾♀️
I get the low pay is a detriment. However, until MANY MANY people stop auditioning, nothing will change (supply and demand)
I couldn't do this, but some women can - kudos to them!!
I completely agree! I couldn't do it either. I'm wondering if things would change if someone decides to sue🤔
@KiaundraJackson hard to know. DCC will say, "we didn't make you sign up" - I'm fairly certain the wages are made known, ESPECIALLY as a veteran
@@staceyl.thienel1499 I'm sure they have ALOT of things in their contract
It reminds me of The Girls Next Door.
I forget the one sister but she was a prime example of not knowing who she was after dcc
She had hip surgery and though she needed that surgery possibly earlier she wanted to pull through to aim for 5 years
Like girl she put DCC first over her own health...
She was then living through her sister once from the beginning , from audition, practice and then when she made the team
It's sad how she didn't know what Todo with herself after dcc
Yes, it was Ann Kate's sister. They slept in the same bed together. You are correct! She was the main one I was referring to about health issues and identity issues once they left DCC
You are on point!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you for watching my review💕
You nailed it on everything. I agree.
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my review💕
@@KiaundraJackson you are welcome. I live here in Dallas, Texas . And the cheerleaders 📣 are a big deal here, but.. I would not do all what they do without getting a way better pay raise.
I’m still processing what I saw, don’t know if I will ever be able to string together my thoughts. A few words come to mind….. misery, pain, deplorable,
I completely understand💔
@@KiaundraJackson I initially turned it off, but then finished watching it. I was a fan of the original show that was CMT. Your analysis of the show was spot on. I wouldn’t wish this abuse on anyone.
@@wunkeyjones113 thank you for watching my review. I still have a hard time even processing everything I witnessed
@@KiaundraJacksongirl, it was the fact that these women choose to be be part of this.
@@wunkeyjones113 they will keep doing it too🤯
I just love your video! I watched Making the Team for 18 seasons. I love the show but I totally agree with you. I used to be so perplexed about Kelli telling girls they were overweight?????? You have a beautiful spirit.
This means so much to me! Thank you for your kind words & for watching my videos.
I heard the lowest paid Dallas football player makes $795k. There is even one on a $160m contract. Meanwhile these elite women athletes make 30k. Shameful exploitation. There are people making a lot of money from them. The last 15 years before Netflix there is a show called ‘making the team’. Calendars etc. I think their employment contract would be interesting. Assigning over all right to their image to the company.
It's so sad! They should be paid so much more. Making what a Chick-fil-A worker makes is such an insult to their talent & worth
Great idea about including a psych evaluation in the tryout process.
Thanks so much! I'll happily be a well-paid independent contracted that will do therapy sessions with the ladies lol
Girrrrrrrl let me go watch this!! As a therapist and a former collegiate cheerleader you’ve peaked my interest….
Lol! Please watch it and report back 🤣
I appreciated this docuseries because it was an appropriate level of exposure on both sides of the spectrum of positivity to negativity. Obviously it’s not a tell all exposé but it’s not all butterfly frills. It subtly includes the bits of what DCC does to these women. And if you’re tapped in enough, you see it. If not, you just hear and see the smiles.
Yes indeed! Thank you so much for watching my review
So much truth spoken here❤
Thank you Angela for watching my review!
I agree with every point you made. It’s very interning to listen to a pro therapists perspective on this series. Thank you for a great vid! Would love to hear more if you talk more about DCC and maybe the real bad negatives too. DCC organization is deff toxic.
Thank you for your kind words! I probably won't talk about it again until a Season 2 comes out but I hope you'll subscribe💕
UPDATE: A former DCC emailed me today in confidence after watching my video. I think I will do another video on this soon😲
Very disturbing series/ “show up and be perfect 24/7. Is this what is expected of women. Don’t complain, suck it up, open yourself to criticism about everything in the name of “the team “/ using religion to keep women in place. The worst thing is the two older women who run the organization are toxic. Everyone has drunk the “kool aid”… so sad…older women should care and nurture the younger women but these two are clearly motivated by profit. So much power is given to them , it’s unhealthy.😢
Other comments have stated it feels like a cult! Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts on this.
This is so true , with woman’s gymnastics, ice skating ,ballet dancers, models, actresses ….. I can go on .
Nothing but facts! I was just telling someone else that just because something is common, doesn't make it right
You just gained a new subscriber! Yes to everything you said! Victoria started a TH-cam channel. The first video was a Q&A...all fluff! She isn't authentic about her time on the show. Didn't answer any of the tough questions.
Yaaaayyyy! Welcome to my channel. Thanks for watching & subscribing. I haven't watched any videos on her YT channel but I think there's fear of any backlash that could come from being truthful about DCC
I found her interview where she repeated “there are no words “ to be very telling!
@@Patsanford220 💔
What did you think about Victoria? 👀
Soooo many thoughts! I would say an undiagnosed eating disorder, depression, loss of identity, affect is off, codependent relationship with mom, low self-worth & self esteem issues, idolized Kelly & Judy etc. The background of her room was like a DCC altar🙈
I'm glad she decided not to come back for another year! That was the right decision for her. When she took the year off, everyone said she thrived. I hope that will be the case for her moving forward.💕🙏🏾 Your thoughts?
@@KiaundraJackson same. But she’s in camp right now 🤣🤣 her comments are lit up like the 4th of July because she said she wasn’t trying out again but it appears she might be. She may be neurodivergent as well…
@@IAmKendraYHill Yikes!!! She's on the brink of a psychotic break. She needs to be careful because I see too many red flags. This is one of those stories where we log onto social & see the person die by $uicide😢
@@KiaundraJackson yeah. I fear that if she doesn’t find something else to be passionate about that her life may be over in her mind without DCC.
Who was your favorite?
@@IAmKendraYHill she needs some prayer! I wonder what she will do after her 5 years are up.🤔
I didn't have any favs as far as personality lol. I think Reece was my favorite dancer tho.
I hope Victoria will be okay. Watching her have her Birthday with her mom, and no friends ir other relatives (not even some DCC) was just sad. And I agree, Victoria from jump looked like she was holding it togethet barely. Then hearing her story
She was hanging on by a thread & we all saw it. I wish her nothing but the best moving forward💕
I think its wild how the Cowboys havent won a super bowl since 1996. Its time to quit saying they are “America’s team” People have to quit believing marketing.
Such a great point! Somebody else mentioned this in the comments too. I'm not a "sports person" so I can't speak on that part lol
it was a shame, they are dancers and love their art but only so many opportunities

Re: the race issues, it was not lost on me that the first few girls that were cut from the training camp were all Black and Brown 👀 Like when the Indian girl was walking out the Black girls that got cut they were like "I have to do this for the Brown girls"
Thank you for making this point. So many others in the comments said race wasn't and isn't a thing in DCC. I disagree strongly!
And then you get lectured on how they need to “fuel” themselves. Don’t look too tired. Don’t gain weight. Which they internalize to … don’t eat.
Yes! It's just all so weird and counterintuitive
these women are athletes and it is disgusting how little they get paid.
Amazing athletes! They should be thoroughly compensated
It's SOOO TOXIC... they try to hide that with the show but it smells bad....
I don't think there's any way to fully hide it. We see right through it all
Thank you for following up. I really appreciate your thoughts. I definitely believe the whole trying out process and being on the team is very mentally straining. I do still feel like they are diverse and picking different types of girls. Judy and Kelly both have have a standard as an example if you can’t do high kicks because of your height you’re not gonna make the team and recently they have talked about making a requirement of a certain height to make the team. I watched the show from the very beginning when it was on CMT. I think it is a great organization and a once in a lifetime experience for the young lady makes the team. I do think you learn a lot of life lessons however I agree with you. I think they could make some changes. I do believe you shouldn’t have to be on point 24 hours a day, especially for practice. I could see being on point for practice if you’re being filmed. I agree with you I think some changes could be made because I do think it is emotionally and mentally then straining on most of the young women trying out and being on the team. I wish they would treat it as a full-time job and pay the women accordingly so they can focus their energy on being a cheerleader . Thank you .
I would also encourage you to watch Daughters of the Sexual Revolution: The Untold Story of DCC. I watched that one last week and it was eye-opening to say the least.😳😲 I watched it on Tubi
Loved it, watched it on CMT

I've been a fan of Making the Team since Season 1 I was so sad when it was canceled. The girls seem like great women, I love watching them
They seem awesome! Did you watch the Netflix series too?
I’ve been watching DCC auditions since I was a little girl. They have always had a reality show since the early 2000s. It’s just now streaming on Netflix because they gotta keep up with the times of course
What are your thoughts about DCC and the auditions?🤔
I did watch the series. It definitely is very rigorous regimen. It would not be for me. But, I’m sure that’s why the DCC is very good at their craft. Now yes they should pay these women very well. Also, you are so beautiful! And your top! Can you tell me the details on where it is from? What brand is it?
Awwww! Thank you for your kind words. It is a dress that was a gift. I'm not sure where they bought it from unfortunately
They always have atleast one real dark sister on the team. Plus that one sister has to work double to keep her spot
🎯🎯🎯
I will check it out. Thank you for your suggestion.
You're so welcome!
4:10 touching on the race segment, the perfect most iconic look for a DDC is a Blonde as much as I hate to admit it🤷♂
You're right! But that is part of the problem😫💔
If I go to Target to purchase a specific brand, packaged perfectly, without flaws...... This is DCC. It's a brand. Should they change how America's Sweethearts are paid, maintained, cared for, etc. YES in many ways. However, it's only one of many NFL cheer squads that have these same issues...they just happen to be "Mount Everest" the "GOAT" the "Olympic Gold Metal" of the squads. And, at the end of the day, it's a brand that many seek.
They should get 80k plus free medical care, salon, spa, gym payed for…too. Free chiropractic, massages, physical therapy, and counseling.
Yesssss! I love this so much. I was thinking $100K with all the extra things you mentioned
how bout $250k! 100k doesn’t go as far as it used to.
👏👏👏👏👏YES!
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I thought the cheerleaders were such sweet, beautiful, talented women. It was terrible how the coaches and owners were willing to have them do things that were so damaging to their health (like those jump splits) for such little pay. It was exploitative and abusive - really made me dislike the Dallas Cowboys organization.
You are not alone on this! Thank you for watching my review
I haven't seen America's Sweethearts. I have seen old shows. Kelly and Judy are way too judgmental. They seem to have big egos. I can't stand them. I felt for the girls.
I didn't watch the old shows but maybe I should so I can compare then & now
this show really inspired me. i know i want to be a dcc and i know it takes a lot of work. my mom just keeps making fun of me for it but i know i can do it. pray for me guys!! ❤❤

Making the team was on for over 10 years on CMT. I think there’s 16 seasons.
Thank you for clarifying! Any thoughts about this series?
Cheerleader compensation exploitation is why I don't watch professional sports.
I completely understand!
The fact that they don’t get paid a living wage an have to take on another job is ridiculous. They make a lot of money for that organization and put out the most effort. Charlotte.( the owners daughter) is the worst! She probably gets paid well to just sit there and do nothing…
I think everybody gets paid better than them. Even the waterboys make more money than they do🥺💔
I had no idea what a misogynistic, antiquated and toxic organization it was. Sad really.
Same! I had no idea all of this was going on💔
Cowboys are our family team! Sister trip every year to game, baby sis lives in Dallas. Haven’t seen the Netflix yet but I used to watch their show back in the day. I’d say I wanted to be one until I found out how much they made back then…
Please check out the Netflix series and report back lol. I gotta know what you think since you and your family love the team.
@@KiaundraJackson I’m visiting my big sister in DC Thursday and will watch with her!
It’s crazy that they have practices every day and on top of that outside appearances and they were pretty much paid minimum wage. An organization that’s healthy wouldn’t strip people their entire identities after leaving. Also, it’s sad because the only way that change will be made when it comes to their pay is there people just don’t audition and they go on a strike. it seems like Kelly and Judy don’t have lives and they project that onto the cheerleaders. No job is worth missing out on precious moments.
Well said! Nothing will change because ppl continue to audition. If everyone went on a strike, change would definitely happen quickly.
Dcc making the team has been around since like 2006 or so
I didn't realize it was that long ago. Thanks for the correction🙌🏾
