Very nice bike!! I miss my 300. It was an 05 KTM. My local dealer Get Dirty/TM Racing sells these. As soon as I can afford it I'm seriously considering one. The build quality is amazing. Your woods and log track is very cool BTW. Thank you for sharing.
Hey Ollie, Thanks a lot! its a work in progress. Get Dirty is the main Westcoast distributor, and where I got most of my aftermarket parts from actually. What are you riding right now?
@@dtr_downtoride Used to do a lot of Lucerne D37 racing (Novice class) and Big Bear, Kennedy Meadows mountains. Now it's dual sporting and more mellow rides. Still, the 300's are amazing and versatile machines. Dave turner is the man!! He sold me my beta 498 enduro when he was a Beta dealer.
@Ollie Christopher is your Beta 498 your dual sport then? I have a DR650 that I got when I first started riding dualsport, but then I got a Beta 390RR-S and the poor DR hardly ever gets ridden anymore. Really love that Beta, I've put it through the ringer over the years 😆
@@dtr_downtoride Yes it's a dual sport with FCR carb. Best modification was getting the carb done at Tokyo Mods. The owner does some kind of porting and jets it to work everywhere. My Beta is beat to crud and keeps ticking!!
Nice TM👍. I got 2, 2016 and 2017. 300 EN, I swear by them. No Electric start and no fuel injection. But no problems but still I’m ready for a upgrade. 🤣
There is definitely something to having less electronics to worry about. electric start would be the hardest one for me to give up though. comes in handy when perched in a precarious position lol. Do you still have no problems getting parts from TM?
@@dtr_downtoride Hi yes. Definitely correct about the electric start. Came out in 2018 on the TMs. I should have waited one year. 🤣 I’m out here in Hawaii and believe me we got some really tuff terrain and precarious off cambers where electric start is a must. I was getting my parts through gravity tm Ralf Schmidt now Dave get dirty took over and I get my parts from them. They come pretty fast as needed but Not too many issue as far as the bike goes and I put it through hell. Which says a lot, TM still offers kickstart w/ electric start which is a must to me when you’re miles out. Also TM still offers carburetor or fuel injection option.
@Kyle Smith you have a very good point that I forgot to mention in my "Why I bought a TM" video. TM is the only company that gives you both electric and Kickstart from the factory. Kick start backup is a must for me. I find it hard to remember everything I was going to talk about in a video while riding 😆 I've seen some videos of trails in Hawaii, and they look very technical. Pretty cool to hear how much you love your TMs and how they can take a beating 👍really appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Yes. Always good to talk with another TM rider. The main reason why I started with TM is because I came from riding 1998- 2000 Honda cr 250s that I had built for trail riding and the TMs are very similar. I Never skipped a beat, way smoother and manageable than they CRs power, torque and suspension wise. I call em my Italian Honda 🤣. The TM aluminum frame is the only one in the 2 stroke 300 game. And yes Hawaii got some very technical hard enduro trails. These bikes do well in my opinion. 🤙
TBI is better than TPI. That being said I love my decked out 21 Huskie te300. Would you ever by a ktm/husq 300 after riding this TM? KBY AND TBI ARE HARD TO BEAT IN A PACKAGE!
The electrical issues are exactly why I ordered a carb model and not TBI. I love the thought of getting a TBI but I just don't trust the electronics on any TBI bikes yet. And TPI seemed like kind of a crapshoot (this goes for KTM as well, not just TM)
Well have I got news for you. They both have electronic powervalves so they both have the same issue. The good news is that it's easy to fix enjoy your carb bike.
@@renogsx you're right, however I have yet to find anyone with a carb bike that has had the pv reset issue. And my dealer said that he also hasn't heard about the issue on carb bikes. So who knows. It would stand to reason that carb and tbi would have the same issue but nobody has confirmed that yet, so far as I know.
Yeah, I get that. I was sick of jetting carbs, and wanted to see what the hype was about. Doesn't the carb model still have the power valve reset issue, though? I can only imagine how much more low end the carb model has 🤙 I'll need to try one out some day. Not many people are riding TMs yet though.
@@dtr_downtoride You would think the carb models also have the issue but I haven't found any carb bike owners with the issue. I'm not saying the carb bikes don't have the issue, just that nobody has confirmed whether the issue can be recreated on carb. It might be that the carb models have a different programming on the ECU, but who knows
Got a carb 300 22 got the ecu live put a in line switch on it so don't have to unplug it when finished the ride and had to jet it right and put a necj neddle it it runs spot on now
Yeah, really don't know why they didn't fix that and the lighting harness issue on the 23 models. They added side panel access to the air filter though, right?
@Ben if you don't stall the bike, then it's not an issue 🤣 For us mortals, we'll have to do the arming switch, or remember to rev the bike when you stall. It's hard to remember when you're in a hurry, though.
Thanks a lot! Really appreciate the input.I have the bulletproof rad guards. The AXP looks really nice, though. It wasn't available when I first got my 22'.
@renogsx yeah, I don't think the radiators changed at all. Would explain why they were available when I first got my bike. The Carb and FI have different guards though. The FI has larger radiators if I'm not mistaken.
Definitely less Smokey then a lot of carb bikes. the FI is probably a little more fuel efficient than the TM carb model, but TMs are thirsty in general. They are hand made race bikes that don't have to meet the same emission restrictions as companies like KTM. This means they can tune for more power, but which requires more fuel. That being said, I haven't ran out of fuel yet with the large tank (3 gal).
@@loganlexow I wish Yamaha would come out with a TBI 300 2T. Wouldn't have any electrical problems at all. If only Italian bike companies could partner with Japanese bike companies....
