Check the description for MORE!
A short video about how to overvolt the motor inside a cd player. the nominal voltage of the motor is around 3V but i have reached 24V, overvolting it by 8 times. The max power was 24W before the motor failure

I like the HowToBasic theme to this.
Thought the same, lol.
skipping through the first 2 minutes with the right arrow really completes the effect
exactly
4:08 sounds like a porsche
GamerBro12 innit
it actually does though
im getting 911 GT3 vibes from that cd player man xD
its either a cd player or a porsche cayman / boxter
that's how Forza gets their sound effects from the cars
Was anyone else expecting him to throw an egg at it
+Patrick Jackson hahahahah :D maybe the next time!
+Patrick Jackson HAHAHAHAHA i was thinking about it xDDD
+Patrick Jackson I was expecting that too...
+Patrick Jackson Omg yes lol...seemed a little like Howtobasics
+MechroGaige Monchak I was thinking that too.
4:17 shift up damned lol
Should have plugged headphones into it to see what it sounded like
cant read
the sound of a lone baby on a mountain.
cant read ar11
+xSora is bhopping sideways again. Need yamemasita/oxycodone for that BPM
Chipmunks dubstep
Really surprised that those little motors can handy 20 volts without a smoke show!
Ok, I kind of like this how to basic style, but that scream at 1:24 made me cringe alot...
Wow. This is the first Video of this kind I've ever seen with "overvolting" and not "overclocking" in the title! Congratulations!
+Luca Dario Bützberger thanks man! Appreciate it ;D
Yes I was also thinking the same
You overvolted the motor. Not the CD player. You should have soldered the power wires to the PCB where the AC input was for the adapter.
Oh well. Missed opportunity.
I tried this on my CD player and it worked. I tried it on my laptop and now I have a self driving laptop
What???
THATS HOW YOU LISTEN TO DEATH METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111111
Ambient
try sawing a piece of plywood with that
+happyboy$ will try!
Could you make it sing the tracks that were on that CD lol
TudorSicaru PhotonicInduction has a video doing this with a vinyl, the music gets super fucking fast and the needle actually tracks till the disk flies off the table
* disk starts spinning *
ENGAGE SAFETY SQUINT
4:05 this is how an electric mustang will sound like in 2020 lol XD!!!

I watched this before... I am back to see it again
sounds like a CAR doing a Dyno.
EnhancedMatrix12 it does!

A Porsche.
the new HowToBasic TH-camr
Why this gives me HowToBasic vibes
I have the same question
Henrix98 same
Henrix98 The editing is soooo similar and the movements the cuts are identical, except this guy doesnt make big mess
The random HUHHH had me dying. You, sir, deserve more subs.
4:31 thats how i listen to my music
had that exact cd player in high school. served me well aside from being very battery hungry
so apparently im not the only one who got a "HowToBasic" vibe from this
3:26 sounds like motorcycles xD
4:12 that's how my old father's laptop that is still being used today's CD reader sounds like
what machine did you use to over volt it?
Imagine if that's how fast CDs had to spin
Pc Cd-rom drives
52x480=24.960 rpm
I have a cd-rw drive that spins this fast
dat frustration at 1:26...I know the feelings as an electrician..only I use a pair of klein strippers lol.
OrignalRecipe92 ah i use all the strippers i can find
Just smack some sanding disks on that shit, and GOTTEM A GRINDER
seems the cd was slipping on the motor.. maybe glue it on there for an explosion?
Tf was that noise at 1:24
a spaz
Boris diy trigered
I thought he was about to ree
KevinCS jar jar binks
T-rex
This video needs to be renamed to:
"DIY how to make your own Angle Grinder with household items" LMAO 😂😂😂
I want to hear what it sounds like spinning 8 times the usual speed.
+Extreme Metal turn the volume up
At 4:12 it starts sounding like the 80s Turbocharged F1 cars.
4:02 Car Accelerating down the highway LOL
The second try with the tape sounded like an car engine at the very beginning xD
That CD player sounds like it was trying to go super saiyan.
52X speed Discman lol
+MegaBojan1993 or faster!! play an entire CD in seconds!!
Borys DIY Spinning a CD inside a discman at those speeds must be harsh on the battery life lol
+MegaBojan1993 faster is better, don't care about batteries :D
Borys DIY I guess you don't care about excess heat also :)
MegaBojan1993 naah! i assume that the system will be 100% efficient :D
You should have put your finger on it or at least played some music coming from the device.,
combine this with a quantum computer and then youl install games in 2 seconds xD
What field is this considered? Electrical ? Computer? Etc?
Electrical
False advertising mate. You didn't over volt to CD player, you just overvolted the drive itself. Super disappointed...
Overvolting ONLY the motor of the cd player.
what is that machine from which he is supplying power?
+Ravi Chaubey this was a power supply
can you give me its amazon link ? what specifically it is called ? I used to use in my school lab but after many years I forgot its name.
Ravi Chaubey Just a bench power supply. Maybe lab power supply. Should find something on that.
Actually i had a CD player that was not supposed to be able to read CDRW, i was able to do so by putting on a 4.5V external power supply instead of the 3V it was supposed to get through batteries.
Interesting
Just seems like a typical 52x drive to me.
Lol
4:00 the sound of an electric car speeding up
Ugh I've always needed a wire splicing tool like that. What's that one called?
+CaptainDarren82 its a wire stripper :D
I'm aware, I'm just looking for the brand name and model ^-^
+CaptainDarren82man, use internet to find it
3:00 When a motorcycle make a Burnout in your living room
4:40 when your motorcycle has a broken Engine :D
WHAT WAS THAT WIRE STRIPPER??? I NEED THAT IN MY LIFE!!! (Right now I am using a pair of scissors.....)
will this work with 4ohms and 3 watt speakers?
+SAI PLECTRUM ya
Did you only overvolt the motor or did you overvolt the whole player?
Well, that was surprisingly awesome :D
1:28 *clicking* *intensifies*
Can you hear the sound go faster if you try to play the cd?
+123TauruZ321 i think that the reading mechanism wouldnt fast enought for reading something...
Eu tenho um deste e ele funciona perfeitamente até hoje. Rio RJ Brasil
This is how Sounds like when my Computer Read a CD
it sounded like a engine for a moment
Should have put a speed tester on it. see how many rpm's it was pulling before the final fry.
+sonicwave001 i wanted a lot but i din not have that equipment...
Oh my god I had that same cd player as a kid xD It was a pretty good one if I remember too used it on the bus everyday until mp3 players came out
1:25 wtf? Hyene xD
+Slawek361 me angry :)
Ikr
+Borys DIY - Boris when he doesn't have CD Player xD

Overclocking my CD-Player (Goes Wrong)
1:25 WTF WAS THAT LOL
Y has this video been age restricted. It's sooo technically advanced
+Summerleeye58 ;;; this video is not age restricted...
I was coming, into the comment section,to say this is like HowToBasic, love the video btw
You: *says* hmm my phone buzzed
Phone: Congrats on 100 subs :D
+Alex Kruger Thanks man!! thank you a lot :D
:D
Sounds like my optical drive when it's burning a DVD. xD
Who would subscribe if h threw eggs at it lmao XD?
where'd you get Tha wire cutting tool
wow you made a fan... awesome
this vid made me very anxious
A clever idea would have been to power up the electronics of the cd player with the normal 3v, connected a set of speakers then varied the speed of the motor to see if the music could be played fast like a cassette tape
My shower fan when I leave the door open be like
I watched a myth busters where they did this and got it to warp speed, it broke apart and the millions of pieces of shrapnel went 9 inches deep in ballistics gel...
When you want to fast forward to the good bit
You make me think of a cross between HowToBasic and Druaga1.
Awesome.
+Daniel Evans a bit strange crossover :D hahahah thanks man :)
Borys DIY No worries dude 😄
Try taking a disc and cutting one quarter of it off then putting it in
Is there a Spin-off of this?
what is this "how to basic - the early years" or something?
Nice power supply what's the name
+miner_1974 its DIY. I will make a video about it in the future
So that is where Alex rider got it from ( point blank reference)
My mom's laptop when i boot onto a windows installer:
I bet watching a 3 hour movie at that speed would take like a min or 2
+Hero Token if not less :D
+Borys DIY yeah like 30 seconds? XD
What is the language spoken at 1:20 it sounds a little bit like Romanian.
awwww, you should have played the cd while overvolting xD
For music lovers who want to speedrun their favourite albums. I wonder what the sound would be like
Howtobasic's alt channel?
If only dvd drives could read and write data at speeds that fast
4:08..like a porsche with a CVT transmission😂
Good god I don't miss those. Batteries would last a week for me, tops, and that's like 30 minutes of daily use (if that.)
4:31 redlining a 2stroke engine :D
+waleed khalid hahahaha :D
Borys DIY

Old laptop hard drives be like:
ive got sony, its works more then 30 years) on 9 volts, but must 4,5
Hey! I screech like that when I'm frustrated too!
I love how you can hear an old woman speaking Spanish at various points of the video.
Nathan Fox hi 2002
it might work as a sandpaper machine make a video about that
Gamer 2 Life no, it won't.
That disc can come apart and send shrapnel flying everywhere.
No it can't
are you polish?
