    I submitted the documents to open the account and I am still getting error messages after five or six submissions. They say there is not enough light, that there was a server error etc. etc. I have used two computers and a phone with the same hick ups. I am beginning to wonder if IAB is simple. Is your money safe with them? I've used four other brokers for years without any of these issues!

      I have found IBKRs to be the most difficult broker to open an account with. IT TOOK me 6 days. I will paper trade for awhile. The $10 inactivity charge is frustrating for those of us who might need a month of paper trading to get used to this very difficult to operate site.

    interactive brokers is not interactive for small retailers. stoplosses are ignored by the app. order placing and setting up brackets is slow. smart routing is just pfof. direct orders are not direct. interface turns sell shares in to shorts. bracket set ups are not working, modifying orders doesnt really works, it stays stuck on the last filled order. sure fees. but if my sl is ignored that doesnt matters, if a sell turns in to a short that doesnt matters. several ppl have blown 50% of their account due to these things. anyone without a affiliate link tells you this, all those with wont.

    Really nice video. Thanks for this. Yes, as a direct access broker, I've found my marketable limit orders are executed almost always at prices better than the stated NBBO price when I put the order in. And, of course, it is virtually instantaneous. One thing I will mention though....and maybe this differs in the UK....but when I buy US stocks from Canada, I don't need to convert to US currency first, in my margin account. That is explained on the IBK website as a benefit of their service. Cash accounts do need to be converted first, before the transaction, but not margin accounts.

    As I have already stated in your previous video, no ibkr didn't "completely change" their pricing structure three months ago. Their pricing structure is pretty much still the same compared to 12+ months ago.
    They have "only" removed the platform fee/inactivity fee, where you either had to pay them $10/month or you had to generate at least $10 worth of transaction fees/month.
    Everything else is still the same.

    • @SashaYanshin
      @SashaYanshin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They updated a few minor things but the platform and ongoing management fees make the pricing structure completely different for understanding how much you are actually paying…

    • @bufordmaddogtannen
      @bufordmaddogtannen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SashaYanshin sure, the point still is the changes didn't alter substantially the amount of money that you would have paid for trading the same assets - say - in August 2020 vs trading the same assets in October 2021.

    • @SashaYanshin
      @SashaYanshin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@bufordmaddogtannen But the point I am making is that if that monthly fee is added into the calcs for passive long-term investors, then suddenly we're talking $20 per trade instead of $0.36 and that's a big difference! I get what you're saying, but it is a pretty material change for the mere mortals among us :)

    • @bufordmaddogtannen
      @bufordmaddogtannen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SashaYanshin yes, there would have been a $100+/yearly fee for people who prefer to buy and hold. For traders, the $10 fee was offset by trading fees.
      Now things are easier for both categories and the remaining fees are still pretty much unchanged.
      Too bad for the lack of ISA, although one would not be allowed to keep a cash balance in USD, so fx fees would play a role as well.

    Hi Sasha! Thanks for the quick run down on Interactive Brokers. As I had been considering using it, the video was very helpful. Just a quick question regarding their FX conversion - aside from the commission/transaction fees charged, how much of the bid/ask spread or the spot to bid/ask spread do they shave off on your FX transaction? I was curious as, too often, many institutions claim cheap transaction but end up charging more on the spread. Thanks again for the great video!

So I don't need advice on buying (or not) OTC Penny Stocks. I just need to know what requirement is IBKR is asking for? Below is a response by IBKR.
    "You need to meet certain criteria for "United States (Penny Stocks) trading permission to be approved. Since your account does not meet the requirements, you do not see an option to request trading permission.
    Unfortunately, we cannot specify which particular criteria is not meeting due to internal policy."

    I assume when you said one of the downside was that you have to leave a little money in your account when you want to go "all in" on a stock, that you were talking about an account without margin. Obviously, one of the points of margin is to be able to trade with more money than you have in your acct.

    • @SashaYanshin
      @SashaYanshin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anything that adds liquidity to the market is good and qualifies for that discount - i.e. if you place an order that somebody out there then has to match.
      A stop order is not one of those so won't get the benefit.
