It’s so hard to shade match in general, let alone since they don’t have much of a brick & mortar presence where we can go in and get shade matched. I’ve been wanting to try their potted concealer, but haven’t been able to bring myself to guess at the shade for that price.

Finally olive under tone! 🙌 I’m pale but with olive skin tone it’s so different to find good match for me. 🐸
So true! They added a few olives shades but hopefully more will come with time.
You made a very good point in that I think the majority of people would swipe too much when testing for colours, I myself have learned that the hard way in the past.
When I’m trying them with my husband, I ask him and he will say things like “I don’t know, I can’t see anything” which is more helpful than he realises 😂❤
That is the perfect response that you want! LOL If he can't see it, then it's perfect.
The shade range you described is perfect. In the Summer, I wear Les Beige healthy glow, BR12, and in winter B10.

Very informative video Alli. I go to stores, they instantly pick me BD shades. I hated the finish, until I tried B. They look so natural on me, I see only my skin. All the years I wasted wearing wrong shades 🤦🏽♀️ Thanks for explaining the shades and ranges!

Allison, you gave the best advice on matching I've heard! Especially for us ladies whose face is lighter than our neck and bodies! Beauty counter ladies always want to match my neck only and the overall foundation is always too dark. Bronzing it up is the much better advice!

I would love to purchase Chanel No1 foundation as I'm fifty and looking for something with less coverage these days. I'm a neutral olive and suspect this means I'm not going to find my match. It's frustrating because No.1 sounds like such a lovely foundation too and just what I'm after.🐸❤
No 1 is really nice but the Les Beiges is also nice and a bit more sheer.

❤ Very informative Ali. Luckily through trial and error I've worked out my skintone and undertone. Chanel's B10 is perfect for me. I've just dusted off Les beiges waterfresh tint in light. For the summer, that's a hair too light for me, so I'll pick up medium light next time I'm in our nearest big town. A nice light summer make up tutorial sounds just the job. Thank you.

Very informative video! 🙂 You should do one for concealer because it’s very confusing and many people tend to go with a wrong shade. I am B20 in foundation and recently I bought the Sublimage concealer. I was sure that 20 is the wright shade but the lady from the Chanel counter recommended 32. She said 20 is ok but because I have a darkness under eyes 32 is better because acting like a corrector and concealer and I have a better coverage. I bought 32 and it’s perfect for the place where I have dark circles but if if I want to cover all under eye area is too dark. Now I am thinking to buy 20 as well. 🤔

Oh that's a good idea to talk about concealers in a video ❤ I also went with 32 because it's more of a corrector and on me 20 looked too grey.

This is a great explanation of skin shade vs neutral, warm, olive or cool undertones. Undertone is the hardest thing to get straight. I’ve never been tested at the Chanel counter, but I’ve concluded I’m fair skinned with primarily neutral undertones. I have green and blue veins, so it didn’t require rocket science! I just love your channel Alli! ❤❤❤

I’m a light warm olive and there aren’t many brands that have lighter olives. I used to be annoyed, but then I learned to make my own shade with a drop of green shade adjuster in a warm foundation. Now I don’t sweat shade matching! It would be nice not to have to do that, though.

Excellent information. Love the lipstick too. I was colour matched at the Chanel counter as B10 but it’s too yellow. I might go back and check if there is a BO or BR in my colour. Many thanks for your information. Always informative.

I have light medium rosey olive. Always blending a variety of colors to make them work. I went years without knowing I was olive. I use to joke that my skin at its lightest I green. It would be fun to go to a counter with you. ❤

Is me again. I never buy foundation unless they give me a small sample to take home. I am a painter and that though me a lot and undertones. In Chanel I am a B R 12. In other brand with different names but the same colors. At this point I can probably buy on line and get the correct shade. I never tan. So don’t even try anymore. Thanks for the tips and info. I find that Chanel's neutral B undertone leans rather yellow/warm in me. I have a neutral undertone but have better foundation matches in some other brands, ie Prada L15 is perfect for me. A lot of brands tend to lean warm with their foundations even though they're labelled as neutral. I actually think it's hard to find a true neutral but some brands are getting better and some newer brands are surpassing the older brands with their shade/ undertone ranges. ❤

Oh that is so true. One brand's version of neutral can actually be quite warm on some. That is the frustrating but very real world of trying to find the right foundation match.

I love Chanel foundation, but I get frustrated with selecting the correct shade. It isn’t that I cannot figure out which I am (BR 22), but it is because it is only available in a couple of formulations. I wonder why? I’ve tried others more readily available, but BR 20 looks muddy and BR12 is too light. I like BR 12 for concealer,but go with BR02 because my under eye circles are very dark, plus I have bags (ugh, turning the big 6-0 next year). What’s a girl to do to get the next best shade when the correct shade is unavailable? I want to use the Les Beiges Water Fresh Tint for summer, but cannot get the shade right.

It is annoying when the same shades are not consistently available across the foundations, I don't know why they do that.
For the Water Fresh Tint, they tend to all have a neutral undertone, nothing cool like the shades you mentioned.

Aujourd'hui les "tan" tirent souvent sur l'orange, celui ci avait la particularité d'être comme son nom l'indique,d'être exactement brun. Je suis tunisienne!!!!
