    One u should try is the blue eyed red rainbow fish. Just started keeping them and once they get their colors they are stunning❤

    Better these than the ones sold as glow fish! The only redeeming value in glow fish is it might get younger kids into the hobby. The stuff of nightmares glow fish,sponge bob pineapple and clown puke gravel. Have to go feeling ill 🤢🤮

    My Ember Tetra's often glow when there's a light source off to the side. With the aquarium light on top of the tank plus a side light ( like a house lamp on in the room ) seems to give the reflection needed to see that 'glow'. Many photographers will purposely use side-lighting for that reason.

      That's what I do...I have low tech lights for now, so I side light the tank for my plants. The embers are beautiful lit from the side.

      Cool idea. Makes sense, though. Gotta love this hobby; there's like a beautiful fusion of science and art to nearly all aspects of it. So cool.

    I really like the glowing stripe on White Clouds. They are next on my list to get when my next tank gets set up.

      You know what, you’re right! And when they are wee babies they really do look like green neons to me (xtra bonus)☺️

      @angelal5485 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I love my white clouds! I have a mixed group of regular and gold. They look dull in the store, but they color up so nicely once they're home.

    • @drewzero1

      It was the stripe that got me hooked initially. I've had them a couple of years and love how chill they are - both figuratively and literally!

    Black neons are definitely underrated in the hobby.
    Sparkling gouramis should be kept in at least a trio otherwise they are quite shy.

  • @Whips_World

    Oh, maaaaan, how can you forget the platinum high shine silver arowana 💚 😁 💚

      Oh... uhhh... you did say nano fish. That would disqualify my suggestion.
      Unless we can consider the aro fry to be "nano". You know, for a week or two. 🤣🤣🤣

    I have a convict cichlid that glows under certain lighting conditions. Under yellow/white light, the white stripes just illuminate.

  • @lynnberg7812
    @lynnberg7812 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I love my celestial pearl danios, even though a bit shy. I love the sparkling gouramis too, but after having 8 of them in a 50 gallon, one male eventually killed all buy himself..he's alone now, but doing fine.

    I just gotta say, wherever I see a 💚 I automatically think green neon now. 😉

    The blue dots on the German blue ram also glow under low light. Especially if you have RGB light most fish will glow. ember, betta etc.

  • @TallonOver
    @TallonOver 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Actually most tropical fish do glow or at least have a pattern that glows but it really depends on your light, looking angle, camera, sexual dimorphism and/or breeding behavior. From my experience, some fish that i've seen glow no matter what were diamond tetras (especially adults), electric blue rams, neon-style tetras (neons,green neons as you mention and especially cardinals)and guppies. I won't mention any type of glofish as they are genetically modified so nothing natural here.

    Such a great list. When my future daughter in law took me fish shopping recently, I had such a hard time deciding between the green kubotais (which I eventually decided on) and the gold tetras to go with my chili rasboras. I was completely blown away by the gold tetras - stunning! Just didn’t have the perfect tank for them right now. Thanks for a great list!

    I think you forgot Pseudomugil luminatus 🫣

  • @robertbaker3174
    @robertbaker3174 ปีที่แล้ว

    That did it. I will definitely get some green nonsense and take the few cardinals out that I was starting again. Got shrimp anyway so it would probably be better! Looks like you keep small scapes which you can get your lights right compared to the bigger tanks that I have planted. I think I have too much like under the circumstances. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. I am killing time currently out on short term disability. Thanks.

    My favorite is having electric blue acaras under a blue light and the orange trailers they have pop like no other

    I can't believe this got stuck in my "watch later" list for 5 months!! I'm so far behind! 🧐
    Edit; you're so spot on, Sparkling Gouramis always seem like quiet ponderers in the tank. They are the slow and steady philosophers rather than active type A personalities! 😊

    I run my tanks at 24°c, so I also have white cloud moutain minnows in mine, and they're gorgeous. I also find that my male lime green endlers have a lovely shimmer to them, I also keep (all male) Japan blue endlers, yellow tiger endlers & red cobra endlers with my green neon tetras, neon green rasboras, ember tetras, galaxy rasboras, gold ring danio (tinwini), x-ray tetras, glowlight tetras and kuhli loaches. I'm considering adding glowlight rasbora. I love having a very large heavily planted, ecosystem tank full of teeny tiny fish gems.

      I have a 29 gallon that’s growing out guppies right now, but soon I’m thinking about glowlight tetras, green neon tetras, and neon green rasboras in it. I think their colors would look really nice together.

    Especially the female ones that usually just grey and silver
    I could easily spot them with ambience light from next room, even though the aquarium light and the room lights were off
