Very good tutorial! Excellent 😊. Sometimes people who create their tutorials talk too much (over explain) or their music drowns out their voice. Good job 👏🏻
I've never been very interested in fiber arts, knitting and weaving and sewing and such. But for the last few months I've been thinking about making one of these blankets. And now this. This. One of your shorts lead me to your channel and now that (i think) i know how to make one of these... I'm buying a roll of this yarn. Whatever i make, it won't be very big or very good. But you might've just started me on a new hobby. Thank you.
I love to hear this! Thanks for wandering over to my video. I’ve dabbled in a few kinds of crafting, and this one has stuck for me. I really hope you enjoy it 😊 good luck!!
I just got into hand knitting, and I am going to make this my next blanket. Thank you so much for sharing ☺️! Also, a little tip, if you wind your yarn into balls and place them in a bowl, it honestly makes life so much easier ☺️!
@@modern.knotworkThe way that they are rolled up is crazy 🤪😂😂! Maybe pick a few mixing bowls at the Dollar Store, and then they can be your “yarn bowls”, and then that way you are not using the ones that you use in your kitchen ☺️!
So far in my experience they are holding up better than knots. I think because the plastic cord in the centre is being fused together. However I see some other creators saying they prefer making a knot or tying their ends together with thread. So it might be a personal preference thing as well 😊
Absolutely! I’ve added it to the description of the video or you can click right here: linktr.ee/modern.knotwork?ltsid=034e0a7d-d0e3-4f5d-8053-bffbca0e96c1 you will find my link tree with some yarn options. Great video. Can you make one with more then two colors of plaid and also with the sides braided by dropping the first stitch? Hopefully you understand what I mean. Again, thanks for the great video! 😁
I think I know what you mean, yes! My next video I have planned is a striped one with two colours and a braided border (by dropping the first stitch). I’ll write down your idea of multiple colours for a plaid blanket! 😊
You would need to follow a different pattern if you want to use knitting / crochet needles! This type of pattern is called hand knitting, so it’s meant to use no needles or hooks. Try searching something like “chunky crochet blanket ” on TH-cam and look for ones that use a hook 😊
you would use US 50 knitting needle. this is not crochet. i would recommend just hand knitting for such a simple stitch pattern. something with lace work or brioche may need the needle.
This is the best checkered tutorial I've come across. I can't wait to try this. Thanks.
Aww thank you, I appreciate your comment! I hope you have fun making your blanket ❤️
Your tutorial is fantastic and so easy to understand! I can’t wait to try making my own checkered chunky blanket. I hope you’ll continue to do more!
Thank you so much! I’m glad you liked the video. I hope you have fun making your blanket 🥰

Oh thank you for the tip!! The number of times my yarn balls have rolled onto the floor… 😅

Excellent video
Thank you very much!
This is beautiful. I’m wondering how the ends burned together will hold up in the wash? The checkerboard blanket is gorgeous.
So far in my experience they are holding up better than knots. I think because the plastic cord in the centre is being fused together.
However I see some other creators saying they prefer making a knot or tying their ends together with thread. So it might be a personal preference thing as well 😊
They do hold up during washing
❤
Can you setup a link for the awesome yarn 😊❤❤

how many yards of material total skeins, i went to do a blanket and found out i needed more skeins lol
I purchased a total of 256 yards (128 yards per colour)

can you weave in patterns after its done?
May I please ask how many skeins of yarn you used in each color? Thank you :)
Yes! I purchased 4 of each. I had some grey leftover because I did more white squares
@ perfect. Thank you☺️!
can i do this knitting needels and wich size needels please

What does the back look like?
The back is a pearl stitch!
Is this technique called the intarsia
I think you’re right! I’ve never heard of this term before, but I think it is called intarsia, or maybe a version of it 😊
