One thing that helped me and my therapist told me this is to think about your values rather than goals. This does not mean abandon goals but rather than thinking, "I will be happy when I get X", think about values such as integrity, honesty, compassion and try to live every day of your life incorporating these values. These are constant compared to a goal, that when reached, leaves you with this empty feeling such as "What now?". Every time a thought comes to my head about my life, I just ask myself "Does this bring me closer to the kind of person I want to be?" and if the answer is yes, do that thing. It does not have to be a goal, it can be living up to a value. And you are right that getting that job, getting that money does not solve all the problems because it was never the root of those problems.
Bro your message is fucking spot on man, been feeling really pressured about life in college, my career as well as my financial gain. It made me fear about what my life would be in the future that I have to manage every single little detail in my life to ensure success. And it really hit me my drive to go do things just drop, and I would waste my time thinking about how much my life sucked. But right now after having binged a shit ton of your stuff I am currently learning a lot, picked up no fap as well as journaling daily, I also read berserk which really changed my view in life as well as how struggle functions to keep us alive. Keep up the amazing work 🤝
Honestly tho. I'm undergoing dopamine detox tomorrow, start doing things differently. I want to find a job because being a student and having to pay rent is gonna be an expensive thing in autumn for me. And I'm tired of having my parents put so much money into me when they gotta invest them into something much more important. So yes, the pressure is real, but I for one can't let things just happen.
Boy this described everything about me and I’m old. I was in my 40s when I started to realize these truths. And even with those truths I struggled to stop thinking I could analyze my way through life. As if others understood the math I could not comprehend. I was always struggling with what I wanted to be when I grow up. Then someone I trusted said something very profound to me. “Why don’t you do the opposite? Stop trying to figure it out and just go with the flow? It’s not like it’s working for you. You told me you have been trying to “figure it out” since you left home as a 19 year old kid. Stop. Literally stop waking up with that thought that you have to figure it out.” Wow! I had never not thought that way. And once I let my self off the hook my life started to effortlessly get better. Even though I was in a job I “hated” I began to try and master it rather than think of it as something I was putting up with while I worked to figure out what I wanted to be. I got good at dissecting how I wanted to be at my own current job. “Flow” started to happen after that. Opportunities just effortlessly came to me. I knew I was on the right track when a manager came to me to give me a higher position/more money managing workers like me. I said no. I was not ready. That I had not mastered the role yet and I did not want to mange people doing my role when I did not fully understand all of it. He was shocked. And a little pissed. But at that moment I didn’t care. 2 years later the opportunity came back around. I was ready and I did take it. But not because it was more money or status. It was because I thought I could really help drive the team to better things. All the time wasted in my youth thinking my life’s purpose would fall in my lap. 🤦♂️ So this guy is right. Just live, learn, try.
all things are subject to change so there really is no point in stressing over everything. just hold yourself accountable for the things that u can control, and for the rest, just let things be
Can agree here. I studied in uni for 4 years to become a scientist. Last year when I was in my last year coronavirus came in and ruined the job market. For graduates I see only 1 vacancy a month come out for a trainee scientist. Thankfully I was ambitious and started doing a course in mortgages and now thankfully got a job in a broker and a full time job in my local hospital which thank God I can both do. I still am a little blank as I need to create a new plan but plans change
This is a wonderful video. I spent 11 years of my life after college trying to figure out what I want to do with my life and it was very mentally exhausting and I felt like an utter failure. So for 2021 I decided just forget what everyone else says and just do what I've always wanted to do which is have a home based call center. I actually have my first two contracts with two companies and I'm really excited about it. Yes to some "Ew working in a call center that's the lowest of the low, but I'm so excited."
this is an important message, especially for people in their 20s trying to "figure everything out" we've been there, got what we were chasing, and it sucked lol . fast forward to early 30's and since then, we've quit those high paying, high-stress corporate jobs and are living simpler than ever and it's incredibly liberating. on the other hand, I do think it's important to push yourself sometimes and do things you don't love to do so you can appreciate the good things in life even more.

"life is not meant to be fully figured out. It's meant to be experienced" -- WOW. I really, really needed this reminder. We just need to start living our lives, not intellectualize it and have it all figured it out. Thank you Cole -- a new subscriber here.
Living in the moment is so important. We all get so caught up in what’s next that we forget to enjoy and experience what is happening today and actually LIVE it. Thanks for this video Cole!
But if we live the moment how can we prepare for the future? Is life really about having about being fulfilled and excitement or is it suppose to be planned out and financially successful. What is it? !
Im about to turn 33 and glad i came across this. I've been in a finance job for 4+years, and while im grateful for having earned the salary i have i grossly feel inadequate in my lack of an exciting social life, having few friends, being terrible with money and having been single for a very long time now. I havent allowed myself to live, and it eats at me almost everyday. Videos like this remind me that everyone has their lane in life and that we don't have to achieve the same things, let alone at the same time 🙏🏽
idk why, but i'm so glad i found this video, i've been in overthinking state about my future and constant worrying about my life, and you make my mind at least be at ease and thinking more calmly, thank you
I’m 23 years old, Most people my age would be graduated from college and either starting their professional careers or moving onto graduate school - but I’m still stuck in undergrad and will be for years despite being in college since age 18. Rather than “locking in” by prioritizing doing well in my classes, working jobs and finding internships, prepping to be a teacher (I’m an Ed. major,) etc, I spend every day just doing the bare minimum to get by each day without thinking about the long-term impacts, and then just wanna party and drink/do drugs with my friends or watch tv/my phone/play video games the rest of the time. I have absolutely no sense of urgency or care for my future as a working adult. The worst part is, **I DON’T WANT TO CHANGE.** I don’t want a degree, or a job or a family. I just want to live like an undergrad college student on other people’s money forever, or just be done with life. I absolutely DO NOT CARE about getting a degree or finding a job, despite knowing I need to and getting anxious about it sometimes. But I also feel like I don’t truly care about that stuff because if I did, I would’ve worked hard to solve those problems already. Basically my only priorities in life are: * Socializing; making friends and finding women to get romantically and/or sexually involved with. * Figuring out what to eat each day, without much care for how healthy it is beyond avoiding dessert-type foods. * Entertaining myself. But at the same time, I know I shouldn’t be living like this. I feel as though I’m “behind schedule.” I just don’t know what to do. I feel like I’m not in the right mindset to be a successful adult, and I’m not sure about how to change it. I also don’t know if I really even want to.
We're all just advanced monkeys spinning on a rock on space, wondering how we got here, and where we're going. But the answer will never be known, so I guess have fun while you're here
Man you literally saved me from all of this... I literally journal everyday trying to figure out my life . As earlier you are always the person I can relate to. Thanks please ensure to upload this type of videos on life .💖
I struggle with the same issue. I still get jealous and pissed off from time to time about it, but I've realized that I have to let go of that for my own mental state. Is it fair? No, but like he mentioned, I have to try to not compare myself to how easy others may have it because in the end it will only consume me and make me a miserable person. In turn, that'll ruin my life even more than it already perceivably is to me.
i think a major part of ppl dreading existance is the constant pressure from peers and family that you HAVE to have a good job, you HAVE to get an education and you HAVE to be a fully fledged member of society and the workforce in your 20s, nobody understands that we have to work until we re 60-70 maybe higher in the future, which is a lot of time so just "wasting" a couple years of it just to see where life takes you until you stumble upon smth that you want to continue doing for as long as you have to/can do
this is what i've been thinking lately. i'm tired of striving to reach goals that i'm not sure i even want anymore. i just want to enjoy all the wonderful things in my life now and do things that make me happy.
With all honesty, thank you Cole. Many of your videos helped me figure out the mess I've made my mind into and finally start to enjoy life as it is. Every moment is ever so fleeting and yet I'd sit there sweating over work, status, wealth... while all I really needed is to live life as it is.
So true, the happiest time in my life was *not* when I got into college, or when I was working at that high paid job or when I was receiving an award for a hobby or when I was travelling. In fact I remember being really really down during all of those moments. The happiest moments were when I just spent time out of the house doing simple fun things offline, particularly social things.
This is 100# the truth and thanks for helping me realize this. I just graduated highschool a few days ago and have been super stressed out because all my family, friends, parents, even people like my barber have been in my ear asking me what I want to do for the rest of my life and that I need to go to college and get things figured out. I stresses me out a lot and I even had a kid I graduated with tell me I’m going to become a nobody because I don’t want to go to college. I’ve always put pressure on myself thinking I need to have things figured out and it’s been even worse with others telling me what I need to do. I think I do just need to not worry about it and just start actually doing more shit and experiencing life instead of sitting around thinking and dreaming about how to do it all. Thanks for making great videos man
I have friends who are years older than myself, and I realized this through observing them. There is no magical destination or end goal where you'll have it all figured out. Life will continue to happen for you, no matter where you find yourself. So just try to make the most our of those experiences.
100% relatable. I’m graduated 3 years now and can’t find work. Everyone I know is getting jobs after their degrees and I’m still trying to get one. It does make you compare yourself to others but your parents or family start talking about how well other are doing compared to yourself.
Realize this: Everybody is just like you Deal with whats in front of you, just do something(doesnt matter what, anything that comes to your mind just do it) even if you might fail, just do it. NOTE: just don't harm people in any way lol(bad karma is the only failure)
"You don't need to figure out life. You just need to start living your life and not be tied down by the shackles of the opinions and expectations from others." - I needed to hear this. I also realize that I must remove the shackles I place on myself, wether I have done it consciously or unconsciously.
I tried figuring things out, got so worried, had anxiety attack every day, stressed out becuz I have no idea what college to go, what major to learn and what job to take. But after over 1 month, I'm feeling better now knowing I don't have to figure things out right now, just keep living, learning, working, having fun
Just quit my job, starting over again at 38 years old nearly half way through my life. Seriously, some of these 20-somethings in the comment section worrying it's too late, you're babies compared to me lol- you have plenty of time to figure it out and re-direct the course of your life. It's scary, but even more scary is getting to proper old age and realising it really is too late then! Good luck one and all.
43 here. Quit my job 2 weeks ago. Yday and today feeling weird and lost, to come up again after watching this video :) we stress way too much...due to societal pressures, family or friends. If we had the courage to quit something that did not make us happy, things will fall into place in it's due time, we just have to keep on living ❤
@@carladossantos1142well said, we usually worry about things that when we actually put on paper we don’t really care about, or realistically they don’t matter that much, I am only 19 but feeling so lost in life right now, but life is a journey not a problem to be figured out
This is true at the same time we need money to actually experience life. Cause regardless if we have life figured out or not, we still have bills to pay.
I actually was one those people who tells you that you have to figure out your passion etc until last week. Then it hit me randomly that what is my passion then? I had felt like I fully figured the life out back then. But after realizing shit and watching some of your videos I kinda feel alive, actually living.Thank you.
Find a focus and just give it everything. You will know what that is. And you must know if u can be great. But once you find that. Find the drive and plan. Then give it your all. And if maybe you chose the wrong path ... be excited to the next ... But NEVER EVER let others affect your path. I moved to Santa Monica and all the crazy cars and money ... it was discouraging ... more than inspiring. And so you need to only focus on your goal. Try to ignore anything else that needs to be ignored. You’re chasing your dream. Not competing with anyone. Money doesn’t mean much. But reaching your dream. That’s everything.

oohh man, what a good timing. due to the pandemic and remote work, I went back to my home country, having a job in the U.S. while living in a place with cheaper cost of living made me think that I would be like this forever, investing 75% of my income and building my house was my main goal, however a trip to NYC made me rethink everything, now I am like should I move there for the experience and get onto the grind of getting a new job or continue here. I thought I had it all figured out now, but like you say everything is subject to change. thank you for the video, it eased my mind and I know it will prepare me to make a better choice.
You hit the nail on the head! Life is full of challenges but if we embrace our humility and start 'doing' then our lives will begin to form in front of our eyes by our actions. Ruminating doesn't actually solve anything. Love your vids Cole :)
As someone who is knock-knock-knockin' on 40s door, this advice is still valuable. On one hand, I've lost SO many years of my life due to crippling anxiety and depression. It's only within the last year that I managed to kick my depression and anxiety to the curb for good. Have I found my dream job and partner? Nope. Instead, I'm enjoying life more than I ever have, which is something I never thought I'd get to experience again. TL;DR - enjoy the moment! It's never too late to turn things around and find happiness in life.
Cole i’ve been following all your content, let me tell you it’s incredible the way you have helped me to stay in the right path. I would love to see a video of you talking on “How to survive toxic work environments” as my office is full of gossip and toxic people around me and i have to spend 10hs of my day there which drives me completely insane. Thanks again for all this fantastic content,
I’ve been so depressed lately. But I could step out the door and workout or I could begin learning the harmonica like I had planned on doing. This is actually so helpful. Sometimes I get stuck in the house by myself doing nothing.
In order to not feel like I should "have my life figured out" is that no one does, and everyone is just making it up as they go along. Some people are just very good at making it seem like they do. Our entire life's journey is all about figuring out what you want versus what people expect of you. I think once you can do that you can stop that feeling of "failure." Also we are living in a different reality compared to our parents and our grandparents. We have different challenges and obstacles like student debt and constantly thinking if we can even hope to have kids because the planet is literally on fire and dying.
Thank god I watched this video, I really needed this. I was thinking of not watching this vid but the more I watched, the more it clicked in that this is what I've been searching ever since I thought I needed to find the one thing I need to do with my life. Clearly, its not spoiling the story but actually writing it in the moment.
This is so true my parents and family members ask me what I’m doing with my life about school, work ,and girl friend etc. They give me their opinion what should l do. In a way l feel like if they are telling me how to live my life.

Today I just accidentally discovered that idea... that's why I'm here, which I really thank you for the advice Cole. Based on what I know and I want to share..... What you need..... is "You" .... The "real you" You don't need to become an idol, or celebrity or anything that you see on TV, or anywhereelse... even Elon Musk you don't need to be like him either. Just be... "YOU" because "You matter!" You don't need success in your life, success is something optional, not a mandatory task or goal to figuring out. Focusing on your mental health and being happy for what you have, is what matters the most than success. Especially getting out of this "Island of Misery" known as social media addiction and false information or whatever situation you have in your life, is an important task you must focus on, rather than figure out your life. You are in control, Not me, not Cole, just.... YOU! Listen to yourself, Talk to yourself and have Self compassion, TRUST IN YOURSELF! Sorry for my grammar I'm Dixlesic but this what I've learned.
Every video is absolutely amazing, Cole. But so far this one has been my favorite. Seriously, I cannot thank you enough for all the effort you put in telling your stories and making your videos
I heard something similar in metal gear solid. The quote went like this "most people waste so much time trying to figure out their purpose in life that they don't get to do the simple thing of living" it haunts me because I am jobless at the moment with debt. And I feel like everyday I am loosing myself but hearing quotes like that makes me feel better. You don't need a purpose, you just need to live.
Cole! Thanks for the video brother. 🙏🏻🤍 I love your message about getting out in nature, putting down the phone, and allowing life to highlight the way (or at least part of the way, because as you highlighted, there is no ONE way). Thanks again for your work! You’re the man 🤙🏻💪🏻

@Mythical chan hahaha i just wanna say that i feel like i should've figured things out in my age tho👍👍
Stop. Literally stop waking up with that thought that you have to figure it out.”
Wow!
Ric, what an awesome insight, thank you! I wish you the best ❤
all things are subject to change so there really is no point in stressing over everything. just hold yourself accountable for the things that u can control, and for the rest, just let things be
Can agree here.
@@zaink7037 good luck dude!
How it been since it comment?
how is it going?
Stuff in life just happen, can't plan it - just live it.
Just live
this is an important message, especially for people in their 20s trying to "figure everything out" we've been there, got what we were chasing, and it sucked lol . fast forward to early 30's and since then, we've quit those high paying, high-stress corporate jobs and are living simpler than ever and it's incredibly liberating. on the other hand, I do think it's important to push yourself sometimes and do things you don't love to do so you can appreciate the good things in life even more.
I cried so damn hard watching this, i really needed it, thx Cole

No, they had an undiagnosed health condition and just oops in the middle of dinner one day.
People like you really contribute nothing to society with your fearmongering and actively opposing attempts to protect society and its most vulnerable.
What is it? !
Dude, you make me feel seen. I don’t say things like that normally, but bro. Thank You.
I love how you share your own personal stories. You're goated Cole
Bro this video is really helpful. Very grateful dawg. Thank you so much for making this video.
Videos like this remind me that everyone has their lane in life and that we don't have to achieve the same things, let alone at the same time 🙏🏽
idk why, but i'm so glad i found this video, i've been in overthinking state about my future and constant worrying about my life, and you make my mind at least be at ease and thinking more calmly, thank you
I’m 23 years old,
Most people my age would be graduated from college and either starting their professional careers or moving onto graduate school - but I’m still stuck in undergrad and will be for years despite being in college since age 18.
Basically my only priorities in life are:
* Socializing; making friends and finding women to get romantically and/or sexually involved with.
* Figuring out what to eat each day, without much care for how healthy it is beyond avoiding dessert-type foods.
* Entertaining myself.
But at the same time, I know I shouldn’t be living like this. I feel as though I’m “behind schedule.” I just don’t know what to do. I feel like I’m not in the right mindset to be a successful adult, and I’m not sure about how to change it. I also don’t know if I really even want to.
At this point I don't just feel lost about my life, I just feel lost about life itself and it feels messed up..

Thanks please ensure to upload this type of videos on life .💖
I can't stop feeling jealous of the people who had it easier in life. They all seem so happy...
Those are out of your control, let go of that feeling.
Appearances can be deceiving
The happiest moments were when I just spent time out of the house doing simple fun things offline, particularly social things.
really encouraging! life isn't just job, reputation and others' expectation...

"Life is an experience not a puzzle"
Time for me to start experiencing
I watched this about three times, i needed this. Thank you, im so happy i found your channel!
bro I needed this so bad. the weight of figuring out life was starting to get to me.
Realize this:
Everybody is just like you
Deal with whats in front of you, just do something(doesnt matter what, anything that comes to your mind just do it) even if you might fail, just do it. NOTE: just don't harm people in any way lol(bad karma is the only failure)
I needed this, thanks Cole❤️
❤
"You don't need to figure out life. You just need to start living your life and not be tied down by the shackles of the opinions and expectations from others." - I needed to hear this. I also realize that I must remove the shackles I place on myself, wether I have done it consciously or unconsciously.
“The world is full of nice people. If you can’t find one, be one.” Sharing some love and positivity from small TH-camr.
Thank you Cole. "Just experience life." Really resonated with me.
Great message. Do what you love and love what you do. Life is impossible to figure out. Just live and enjoy life moments. Life is short
@@carladossantos1142well said, we usually worry about things that when we actually put on paper we don’t really care about, or realistically they don’t matter that much, I am only 19 but feeling so lost in life right now, but life is a journey not a problem to be figured out
What are you up to now how’s it going?

Thank you Cole. This video and your words mean a lot to me.
Bro last year was the most shitty but at the same time best year of my life, I didnt make much memories but at the same time I did like I did new stuf I went on my ever first date, but also had very deep conversations about life with my best friend. This year was one of the newest years of my life in a month a will be 19 so life has just begon and thats what ive learend this year. Ive never felt a video this good, but its really good what your saying just go outside work out read a book or do something else but sitting inside your room you can always do when your sick or old just learn new stuff do new thing and you will be happier than ever!!! All the love!!
oohh man, what a good timing. due to the pandemic and remote work, I went back to my home country, having a job in the U.S. while living in a place with cheaper cost of living made me think that I would be like this forever, investing 75% of my income and building my house was my main goal, however a trip to NYC made me rethink everything, now I am like should I move there for the experience and get onto the grind of getting a new job or continue here. I thought I had it all figured out now, but like you say everything is subject to change. thank you for the video, it eased my mind and I know it will prepare me to make a better choice.
You posted this at the perfect time.. wow thank you 🙏🏽❤️
Wow Cole. Love this man, thank you so much for this.

I just graduated high school and ive been asking my self what should i do everyday since then. Really appreciate your videos 💯🙏🏾

You hit the nail on the head! Life is full of challenges but if we embrace our humility and start 'doing' then our lives will begin to form in front of our eyes by our actions. Ruminating doesn't actually solve anything. Love your vids Cole :)

You gave me things to think about.
I am older than you, still compared to myself, you are wiser Than me.
This is why i belive in you. You are right.
Dear Cole, your videos have been very helpful and life-changing for me in my self-improvement journey. I'm beyond grateful ❤ thanks.
It's never too late to turn things around and find happiness in life.
thanks, I'm a little happy crying now at 04:28 a.m

Cole i’ve been following all your content, let me tell you it’s incredible the way you have helped me to stay in the right path. I would love to see a video of you talking on “How to survive toxic work environments” as my office is full of gossip and toxic people around me and i have to spend 10hs of my day there which drives me completely insane.
Thanks again for all this fantastic content,
I’ve been so depressed lately. But I could step out the door and workout or I could begin learning the harmonica like I had planned on doing. This is actually so helpful. Sometimes I get stuck in the house by myself doing nothing.
Your evolving bro keep up the good work 🔥🔥🔥🔥
In order to not feel like I should "have my life figured out" is that no one does, and everyone is just making it up as they go along. Some people are just very good at making it seem like they do. Our entire life's journey is all about figuring out what you want versus what people expect of you. I think once you can do that you can stop that feeling of "failure."
Also we are living in a different reality compared to our parents and our grandparents.
I can't believe it's been six months since I found this channel and he's helped guide me how to fix so many aspects of my life as a 21 year old man, and I just wanna say thank you Cole. You're like the big brother I never had
Im really glad I found your videos at this moment of my life. Wished I had found them earlier. I’ve been living miserably and everything you have said has opened my eyes.
Life is actually pretty simple, just LIVE.
Yeah but we need money in order to survive.

hey man, at 3:17, I am going through same shit right now. I am 20 and I want a fucking job and nothing else matters and this line of thinking is definitely taking a toll on my learning process, focus, and curiosity. It's like I don't give a shit about the subject matter and my only focus is to get a job. gr8 video
Today I just accidentally discovered that idea... that's why I'm here, which I really thank you for the advice Cole.
Based on what I know and I want to share.....
What you need.....
is "You" .... The "real you"
You don't need to become an idol, or celebrity or anything that you see on TV, or anywhereelse...
even Elon Musk you don't need to be like him either.
Just be... "YOU" because "You matter!"
You don't need success in your life,
success is something optional, not a mandatory task or goal to figuring out.
Focusing on your mental health and being happy for what you have,
is what matters the most than success.
Especially getting out of this "Island of Misery" known as social media addiction and false information or whatever situation you have in your life, is an important task you must focus on,
rather than figure out your life.
Love to see this coming from another Buffalo kid. Keep your head up Cole!
