    Want to know what Israelis and Palestinians in the Middle East really think about the conflict? Ask a question and I will get answers.
    People ask Israeli Jews, Arabs and Palestinians questions. I go out and ask random people to answer.

    I am in complete agreement with the gentleman who speaks, the big problem of the Arabs is deprived of the right to express their opinion freely but despite the fact that this right exists in my country TUNISIA we are the only Arab country Democrat And freedom of expression (Article 19) and conscience (Article 6) is guaranteed by the constitution but there is the problem of hypocritis, I know many liberals friends are with the peace process between israel and palestine But in front of the camera they will change their opinions fears that the other neighboring countries treat us like traitors

    • @nickname8619

      Really, the source of hypocrisy, at least in my opinion, is the prevalence of Islam in the state. There should be a separation of religion and state just like in Turkey; then a true Muslim free society can grow.

      yassine ben ahmed Tunisians are not Arabs. They are Mediterranean, of Phoenician origin. It just happens that the majority of the population is Muslim and practice Arabic culture --- Until it adopts the clear separation between State and Religion, like in my country, the U.K. , it is not a truly democratic country. It is progressing to become one, though.

      @miriamsackler5002 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gunners1886 Very true. But as a British National with residence in North Africa, I found this very peculiar. The best preserved Roman monuments are in Libya and Morocco, the Vollubilis. Hercules cave is in Tangier, and Lixus, the city where Hercules searched for the golden apple is present day L’arrache (Lixus)...... My house in Tangier is facing a Phoenician cemetery from 500 BC, from where we can see Spain at a distance. It is a version of Arab culture that the Wahhabis from Saudi Arabia hate the most: With a thoroughly Hellenistic past and looking decidedly North as barometer of progress.

    I respect this guy so much and as an arab can say that he is the voice of many people who seek peace between jews and arabs. I understand that Israel and some Arab countries have been at war, had conflicts, killed people ...etc And it is hard for many on both sides to forget or maybe forgive. But war brings only war, killing brings more killing, and hate feeds on hate. This can never end by wanting revenge or whatever excuse we use so we don't surrender 'our cause'. It could be religion, or nationalism ... or anything. But I do not believe that religion itself is bad or a nation itself is evil. Anything (technology, money, power..) could be used to justify, finance, and promote anything. People will always have different beliefs, support different theories, different football teams; I even met someone who doesn't like F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and it's fine. Because regardless of our differences we are all people who want to be happy, discover life, live new experiences and tell those stories to our friends, children, grandchildren ... What unites us is greater than all the differences that separate us.
    I am not preaching, I am not wiser than anyone else. I am just guy who is tired from all the fights and who seeks nothing but peace, laughs, friendships and love.

    Well, as an Arab, I agree about 90% of what he said about Arab culture, it's very strict and it puts pressure on people who think differently, indeed.
    But the part that i don't agree with is that Arabs love Israel or want Israel ID, we love Jews, but we hate Israel as a government, because occupation can't just be forgave.
    anyway, I believe in peace between Palestinians and Israelis, but not if they still treat Palestinians/Israelis as second-class people.

      I know right? I told a lot of people that I know JEWS ARE NOT JUST ISRAELIS AND ISRAELIS ARE NOT JUST JEWS, but because of the ancient roots of this problem in 1947 I guess, people here no longer differentiate jews from israel. when I was a kid the first thing that comes to my mind when I hear the word "Jew" was Israel and it's crimes in Palestine. thankfully I used my mind by the time and I knew the difference.

      The current Israeli secretary of defense (Avigdor Liberman) has proposed that when a peace agreement will be negotiated between the Palestinians and the Israelis, instead of evacuating some of the major settlements in the west bank, Israel will offer the Palestinians land swaps.

    A very clear statement. It’s sad we can almpst never hear positive and constructive voices from the Arab world. Hypocrisy is not only an Arab issue. I’m Turkish and I love what Murathan Mungan (a well-knows Turkish poet) says about this: “Turkey’s official religion is hypocrisy.” I’m not happy saying that but hypocracy is very popular in muslim societies. They’re not aware of it though. Islam requires unconditional surrender.

    It seems to me this guy is right on in his assessment. Arabs are very much structured as an honour society. If you do anything to bring perceived dishonour to your family or the society or accepted religious views you can be killed. This is not just in Arabic society but in other Eastern and African systems. On top of that Palestinians as are many other ethnic groups in the region are built around tribal culture. This is top down and you must comply or be ostracised or shunned. Then you add a religious regime on top of all that. Islam translated to English means submission literally. The individual cannot be permitted to deviate from the established decrees of religious authority sometimes as the penalty of death. This is a huge obstacle and even leaders who might think out of the box are doomed.

Mizrahim should return to speaking Arabic at home. There's no need to ever question their loyalty. They have survived hundreds of caliphs. I did notice that speaking Hebrew loosens them up. Jews are not "settlers" anymo re than Arabs are. The region of palestine has been inhabited by many immigrant groups for thousands of years. Jews themselves have palestinian roots, the ones from europe especially have palestinian roots and were called "palestinians" while living in europe due to their semitic origins and middle eastern features.
    Israeli Jews are palestinian in every sense. Palestine is a region. Jordan used to be part of Palestine. Much of rural palestine used to be barren until zionists worked the land, dying of malaria. Now the land is developed and envied by the rest of the arab world. The arab world can't tolerate one Jewish state even though they have 22 states, most of which are modern inventions themselves.

  • @firthm2
    @firthm2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The guy is clearly smart. So he should understand why Palestinians would be generally more hostile if an Israeli Jew entered a Palestinian community than visa versa. One must recognize the history of occupation, the fatal Israeli military raids in Palestinian cities, the power imbalance between the israeli army and local resistance groups, the huge numbers of palestinians in israeli prisons, the arbitrary, inconsistent, and often disporportionate exercise of restrictions on construction and travel, and statistically the much greater number of deaths of Palestinians caused by Israelis than visa versa. The man blames Palestinian hostility on culture, which may be partially true, but one most consider the aggravating factors too which he did not mention.

  • @paghal11
    @paghal11 7 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    I agree with the man's sentiments but not with his analysis of "Arab culture". His experience of contact with the Palestinians is of an oppressed people living under a military occupation. This is not conducive to a free and open society. Change will happen, but with the end of oppression.

In general most Arabs moved to west Palestine at the end of the 19th century so they do not have routes on this land and do not own it. Also, the League of Nations gave all of West Palestine to the Jewish people. You need to look this up!!! No one told the Arabs not to move to East Palestine/ Jordan. Is there a problem? Its more than 3 times the size of West Palestine. Judea and Sameria was illegally occupied by Jordan and that is how it got the name "West bank."
      You seem like a logical person, so I really would like us to come to a logical agreement, ok?
      Did you hear about Haj amin al Hussaini (Mufti of Jerusalem)? Did you know that he recruited Muslim-Nazi SS Divisions during WWII? The founding father of the Palestinians worked for Hitler.
      Listen to what this "settler" says and listen well. Israel is a free society and we can express ourselves freely. We have different colors, different views, different opinions, different voices....its all ok. We are not all the same and we don't think that Palestinians are all the same. But when a Palestinian slaughters Israeli civilians, even children he gets a gold medal from Mahmoud Abbas, but if an Israeli did this to Arab civilians they will throw him in jail. That is the difference; even the "moderate" Palestinians leaders are involved in terrorism. That is why Peace talks will never work.
      "In the end we are enemies", exactly, that is why you/they should leave!
      Except those that can come out and tell Israelis that they love them.
      The Druze love us and we love them back! Even if they wanted to leave, we would want them to stay.

      @@berly9397 mate im gonna answer you i just have a bit of a busy life. I havent disappeared dont worry. First of all Arabs/ muslims definitly have routes in Palistine. If you take the aqsa mousque for example! It was built in 1313! In comparison Mecca (where muslims go do pilgrimage) was built in 1380! So these were LONG ago. Second of all, it was the united kingdom who gave Palistine away to the jewish people to create Isreal (the balfour declaration) and everyone knows here they had no right giving away someone elses land. Jews, Christian amd muslims lived together in peace when it was Palistine long before Jewish soldiers came along and won the war, expelled many palistinians and started to occupy more and more land.

    This guy has some very interesting things to say. I'm disappointed that I can't follow a great deal of what he's saying because it doesn't have English subtitles. That's very unusual for your "Ask" series of videos. Every other video I've seen in the series seems to translate pretty much everything that any speaker says. But on the one video that I find most interesting and potentially most important, so much of what he says is left untranslated that it's hard to follow the points he's making. :-(

      Hit the CC (closed caption) option on the top right of the video And you will see a full English translation on the screen even when he’s switching between Hebrew and Arabic

    This person said those Palestinians are hypocrites who work with Israelis and then work against them. Dude they work with Israeliz because they have no choice, you have occupied them and kept them in a disadvantageous position. And they speak against Israel because its their right to protest against their occupiers!
