- I accidentally stopped the timer at the start of Nekrovol - Part II. Sorry about that. The IGT is timed manually.
For 100%, I wanted to do something I would find enjoyable so this run doesn't use any major glitches. The biggest glitch - and maybe the only one unless my memory is failing - is the weapon swap to skip pickup animations. I also use Mastery Tokens in this run to bypass some of the weapon mod mastery challenges. I might eventually do a "No Mastery Tokens" run but we'll see.
Otherwise, the 100% definition from my other video & the speedrun rule set applies:
All weapons obtained (including the Unmaykr) and masteries for all mods completed (using mastery tokens is acceptable) with 8 weapon points remaining
All sentinel crystal upgrades & suit token upgrades obtained with 15 suit tokens remaining
All collectible items in the Fortress must be unlocked with 8 batteries remaining (10 if you do Praetor skip; 4 if you unlock all of the skins)
All codex entries obtained (including Elena Richardson's logs)
Full exploration completed in each level

I got all the fortress of doom unlocks, got every toy, music, cheat code and codex entry, as well as all the slayer gates, mission challenges, encounters and auto maps. I have 75+ extra lives, have completed every master level, and have all but twelve mile stones. ( I also got the Phobos skin but not the gold, I’m not that good). Would y’all say I’m pretty much 100%?

Almost Cool Guys I breath UV on my second playthrough with over 20 plus extra lives, not dying a single time.
I beat nightmare after dying 20+ times with no extra lives. MASSIVE difference, but it is way more fun

The thing I need to learn is that I don't have to Glory Kill every demon.
It took me forever to figure out that they don't need to be in a glory kill stagger to use the chainsaw on them. That's why I keep replaying earlier levels to learn all the little things :D

To be fair in a lot of instances fighting a Marauder he doesn't even try to dodge the laser attack and just kind of accepts the damage. If that's behaviour you're seeing from an UV100% speedrunner then something somewhere went a bit screwy.

Also Draqu you can speed up the confirm time for runes and weapons mods in the menu. It's set to 0.7 normally but you can make it 0.1
This sounds neat. What command is it? Are there any other good ones for speeding the UI and animations up?
@@connorspangler510 I think it's literally called "menu confirmation time" in the settings, you'll see it. I dont know of any others like that, an option to skip the animations wouldve been nice though. They're definitely annoying to watch in subsequent playthroughs

@@artemperesada3454 Yeah the thumbstick makes it tricky to do some of the movements he does or flick to target weakspots on mancubi/arachnatrons. It's still fun though.

Controller or mouse &key depends on the game, fighting games are best on controllers, fps is best with mouse.
Being limited by sticks is one thing. Sure they're not as good as mouse, but it's certainly playable and won't limit you nearly as much in a single-player game as it would in pvp. I think the thing that really limits controller is that the weapon wheel can't be separated from the last weapon button, so you can't quickswitch without setup, and even then just between two weapons. If you could just access the wheel instantly without holding a button beforehand, then sure it would require more tech skill to quickswitch on controller, but you could still do the same thing with enough practice. As is, controller significantly limits your dps just by virtue of putting red tape around switching weapons.
THIS is the speedrun people wanted. Not that out of bounds flying around bullshit.

They need to make the Glory Kill animation accelerator rune also apply to Sentinel Battery animation. It would help speed up the flow in Fortress of Doom.
They need to make it apply to the chainsaw animation. For me it kinda takes me out of it, unlike the chainsaw animations in 2016, but it’s whatever.

I agree, that's why I watch DraQu's Ultra Nightmare playthroughs. This one is my favourite because he got better over time and also because with 100% run there's a significant portion of the game where he actually doesn't waste time and pulls off some weird parkour... and yet he never uses any major GLITCHES (!). Respect for DraQu. So good.

Thank you for making these videos. While I’m nowhere near as good as you, watching you play improved my gameplay TREMENDOUSLY. I went from using 10-15 extra lives on a single marauder to killing one in 30 seconds. And also I’m now able to stretch my health out much longer in a match.

This run is so impressive. Ive watched sections of it every day for like a week. I thought i was cool when i beat the game within a week on ultra violence. And i cant wait to see you perfect this run in the coming weeks!
The most badass player of doom of all time
This honestly reminds me more of Quake 3 than it does Doom 2. It's more about jumping around a jump pad infested arena managing ammo and power ups than snaking your way through a hell infested level.
THIS is what speedrunning should be. Complete mastery over a game to the point where you mercilessly bulldoze through all of it in one perfect take, not sitting for 70 hours trying to find a glitch to catapult you to the end of the map. That shit is psychologically draining and looks boring. This, on the other hand, is art. Also DraQu sounds a lot like Dracu, which is what we call the devil in Romania, so seeing the devil himself murder all of hell is ironic.
They both have value, one of them is just another way to understand the game. Its just less about playing and moreso finding the holes in the games levels. Its fun for those that do it and exists as its own genre of speedrun, so you can pick and choose which you enjoy.

i know platforming isn't particularly fun to actually do in the game, but watching you do it so cleanly is such good showing. and the fight clears are like watching someone easy mode the crappy COD tutorial runs
