So, I was once in an institution with someone undergoing electroshock therapy, which is rarely but still used for some neurological conditions. She knew she would have the side-effect of amnesias, and her doctor had advised her to make a list of the media she'd most enjoyed so she could go back and enjoy them all again, like new. So, there's your answer. EST. (But, don't.)

Did anyone else notice how she immediately looks at us at 2:15 when Hot Priest tells her straight up "We're not gonna have sex"???
It reinforces so clearly the underlying tone that whenever she's in pain or she gets hurt she escapes by looking at us, and not being in the moment. God damn I love fleabag so much

That's why most of the time its in the middle of serious moments to add some weird funny commentary, and why it shows how much the priest actually cares for her

I always tell people who haven't seen the show they have to watch it all the way through the first season and the second season because I don't think they'd get that same delight from this scene. After seeing her talk to us for so long while no one else is aware her feelings don't match her words, the realization of how the Priest truly understands her packs a huge emotional punch. i've done a lot of stewing on it and i think the foxes are women. i think they're women trying to break his vow of celibacy and turn him away from God. every instance he talks about foxes trying to get in or somehow thinking a fox is nearby, a woman can be applied to the situation, especially in this scene. as soon as he thinks he hears a fox, she starts talking about having sex with him. it's just my personal thoughts though

To give a character, who is completely detached from her own emotions and unseen by the people in her life , the ability to break the fourth wall-- and then giving the only person who truly sees her, the ability to NOTICE when she does: fucking genius. Being caught breaking the fourth wall is like a vulnerable place to be caught. Like someone walking in when you're naked.
I remember first watching this series and being surprised that he saw her break the fourth wall but never truly understanding why!
    But here's my take.
No one in her life actually cares when she does that. They know she's doing something but don't really give a shit enough about her to ask or worry about it at all.
The priest actually genuinely cares about her which is why she's so fucking weirded out by him acknowledging it. I know this from experience! When a girl has been neglected, put down or ignored her whole life! Even by the people in her family.
Being that guy to actually care, it can freak them out to the point where they think I'm totally bonkers. 🤣🤣

I like how Phoebe Waller Bridge was looking at the camera (breaking the fourth wall).

I think the reason he knows is because Fleabag is talking to her mother whenever she breaks the fourth wall and because the priest has a connection to God and the afterlife he can acknowledge it
