Allowing players to play the previous passes is an incredible move on their part. With so much content being available their player numbers will either soar, remain at a high number consistently or both.
That with future mission types being added adds a TON of replay value
with what’s happening in Helldivers2, the children crave the mines again

I'm very excited about Season 5. It does a lot of what previous seasons have failed to do: add content to the game that shows up frequently and randomly without being a gimmick. I still want to see new biomes at some point- those are my favorite type of content.
Speaking of biomes, I believe some time during yesterday’s dev stream they said they had been working on a new biome but they scrapped it because it ended up being too similar to the Fungus Bogs.
yesss, new mission type and cave generations is a great start. Would absolutely love a new biome or two though!
I hope we get Caustic Mire added someday, the concept art for that biome was SICK!
@@bugjams I want the shallow grotto biome from the tutorial. It was pleasant, and it would be cool to do some drilling near the surface.
The other seasons absolutely did this, just to a lesser degree. Most recent examples from Season 4 are the Glyphid Stingtail and Septic Spreader for mobs/enemies, and rocket boots for gameplay additions. I agree though in that it's nice to see Season 5 leaning more into that side of things. I'm not opposed to the rival tech or rockpox personally (the meteor has been my favorite event in the whole game during season 4 personally). Plus the Nemesis was a nice step towards the horror aspect of the game, which we're now getting an even bigger step towards for Season 5. This season can't come soon enough.
Low Gravity and the Elevator is going to be so much fun! Im looking forward to it

While I am a bit sad that we won’t get another season for probably a year, I’m glad that they laid out exactly why and what they’re doing to help combat the waiting. DRG is already one of the most varied and replayable games I know of, so just having that old stuff to finish off, new stuff to collect, and new cave variety will go a long way in the content drought. And I’m sure we’ll still get maintenance updates like we have been this season, as well as the seasonal events.

Me, who just started playing DRG, about to play all the past seasons: "Wait, a year is not enough!"
i found season 3 and 4 to be really disappointing, and it had a lot of really questionable design decisions. the lithophage corruptor and rockpox in general still feel really tedious, and the new enemies, although nerfed now, were absolutely awful to deal with, especially the stingtail which was HORRENDOUS! they really should've tested some of this with the playerbase before they released it.
all i'm hoping is that with this delay, they can really do justice to what a season means. a real, actual, MEATY content update with stuff that's worthwhile, not just some arbitrary schedule with half-baked content that's just a continuation of the previous season.

The ability to go back to old seasons is so welcome. Also making it much easier to get what you want instead of hoping the crago crates have mercy on you more than usual.
When they mentioned the drillavator I was immediately reminded of a particular mission in Halo 2 where you need to take an elevator down and you have enemies attacking you and I remember it being quite fun and tense.

I love the idea of having to fend off bugs from above as we tunnel down into the depths, and using jet boots to extract sounds like it'll be so intense, managing your fuel, avoiding falling back into the chasm, all while flying away from swarm after swarm. This game is already incredibly cinematic, and this sounds like that'll get turned up to 11 next season
I was in disbelief when the Mortar Rounds overclock was announced, because 6 months ago I had a dream where I was playing DRG and I was using a weapon that I would also describe as a "full-auto PGL". Although in my dream it was a brand new weapon rather than an Autocannon overclock, after waking up and telling friends about my dream, I also described it as a minimum rate of fire Autocannon that took the AoE mods, and had arcing shots like the PGL. This overclock lowers rate of fire and increases AoE damage and makes the projectiles arc, so all in all I was strangely spot-on.
"So where did you hear about the new overclock?"
"It came to me in a dream."
Wait, do you have dreams where you're playing a game, or do you end up "inside" the game world experiencing it as if it's real? I've never experienced the former, always the latter. I used to get dreams sometimes where I experience a game I play a lot as if it's real, but it's like reality becomes a hybrid between the game and reality where some elements are realistic and others are more game-like.
@@mikeexits Usually it's a normal dream that accumulates DRG elements over time until it's just DRG. I'll randomly have a pickaxe, or a grappling hook, or a weapon from the game. But sometimes I have dreams where I am playing the game rather than in it...though usually it eventually seamlessly transitions to me being in it anyway. Sometimes I'm fully in the game and sometimes it's a hybrid like you said, like maybe the environment isn't a DRG cave, or one region is a DRG cave and the other is something entirely different.

Remember to craft all your matrix cores. If you have matrix cores of previous season gear, they will disappear from your crafting station list, and you have to get scrip for the seasons they belong in to get them back.

@@magma_fire_bagwan i could be wrong but I remembet hearing on one of the developer livestreams that the developers recommended you craft everything you have before season 05 to avoid possibly losing cores from your list as they are making changes to the loot table for core infuser and lost gear.
@@jambalolk They recommended specifically to craft any matrix cores of items from past seasons, and buy any items from past seasons that are in your shop, if you don't want to have to unlock them within the season pass they came from. Other items are safe.
@@mikeexits i noticed they put the warning in the game when I played yesterday so hopefully nobody misses out. I burned through all my phazyonite buying out the season gear in the store.

While I am disappointed that we won't be getting anything else till 2025, I am glad they at least put a lot into this season. That will hopefully make the wait a lot more bearable.
Glypphid Stalker reinforces my opinion that Hoxes is actually a test environment for DRG's prototype weapons division. Dwarves are mainly there to test said weapons
I believe the stalker is evidence of the bugs adapting to us
so many small but great quality of life improvements, this is how you know these devs care
I don't mean to toot my own horn here, but about 7 months ago I posted this idea for what Season 5 could be on Reddit, I even called it "Going Deeper," you can find it yourself if you'd like. I included a bunch of artwork to demonstrate the idea - the main thing being a vertical drill platform you could ride down.
Aaron, a GSG dev, commented that he thought the idea was cool and that they (the team, presumably) would talk about it over lunch. Now, the idea wasn't super original in it's own right, but perhaps the devs at GSG were considering multiple ideas for a new mission type, and mine just so happened to be similar to one option they had planned?
It would be useful to know one way or the other if I was a source of inspiration or not, but either way it's pretty slick that an idea I suggested sort of became real.

It's really cool if they add the engi's shotgun overclock called "Dragon breath rounds" that shoots a scorching projective that capable of igniting enemies and causing an explosion like lok-1 explosive chemical rounds for the cost of reduced total ammo and lower damage output

I feel like dragons breath but with lightning would be more fitting or radioactive. Dragons breath doesn't feel mad scientist enough
To be fair, one of the overclocks for Engi's shotgun is getting a rework, so it might be changed to something quite similar

I really hope the pump action over clock for the warthog actually changes the animation so that you pump it every shot. With the right noise, that will be so satisfying

when they announced season 2 and said that season 1's stuff would be in crates, i knew said crates would get bloated pretty soon.

Tbh the problem was obvious, but it was passable for the time being, so my best guess is they were making internal tests with how to avoid Lost Cargo crates from becoming that problem, and after enough tests (it was likely not high priority, so the team tackled it whenever part of the team got free of their main priority tasks) on all options, decided that just letting players have a run on past Seasons was the best alternative.
The others would simply shift the bloat into either Resource and credita grind, bloat another part of the game where cosmetics can be acquired, or not be a very engaging thing to commit to.
So to me, they used that first idea to keep things running smoothly until they decided how to best solve it.

The deep scan elevator made me think of some sections in halo where the flood drop on you as you use the elevator

had a drg dream once, had a mission similar to this new one, where you enter a fucking HUGE cavern room and had to find the mining unit and get it fixed to continue the mission, the mining unit being a XXXL doretta type thing, never got to see the end, but cool dream
As a very patient person myself, I can understand they want to push Season 6 aside for the time being until 2025 so that they can focus more on the development of Rogue Core which I'm still excited for and I hope Rouge Core will be successful just like DRG.
Now if they do start working on Season 6, I do hope they'll add in new weapons and new biomes because I would love to explore new areas along with the new weapons to try out.
Now with that out of the way, I'm super hyped for Season 5 to come in June soon. New mission type, new cosmetics, and new enemies here I come! ROCK AND STONE! ⛏💰🍻⛏💰🍻

It's sad to see no confirmed season 6 but it's completely understandable considering how long they've been working on the game. I'm excited to see what Rogue Core has to offer and what the future holds for the DRG universe.

It's absolutely insane to me that this is all added as a free update.
I be honest, being able to play previous Seasons is one of my FAVORITE additions. Now there's no need to rush the game or feeling like I need to play everyday to finish the Pass, before a new one arrives. Just enjoy at my own pace and if the Season ends, I can just go back to it. Even better, because I arrived as Season 3 was ending, so now I have a chance to complete the pass AND the previous ones, as well ^^
gotta love Ghost Ship Games for bucking against the FOMO trend in live-service games. A game gradually getting content and changing through time is fine, the problem is feeling obligated to do sometimes mundane things just to get a "reward" that ends up feeling kinda meh before you run out of time

Holy crap. This is so much! Im personally really glad to see that they are letting us go back and olay previous season B-passes for their loot and cosmetics! It keeps that feeling of progressing going when you've got everything and not to mention, its just a chad thing all around to do. Thank you Ghost Ship games. I haven't been this excited for a season since season 2. I'm definitely most excited for the deep scan mission and the returning seasons. The thought of emerging into the geode while waist deep in bug corpses sounds so cool. And if SOMEHOW season 5 turns out bad (I don't see this happening at all) I will still be playing the hell out of season 1 and 2.
Also love how we are getting a second Fallout helmet in the game.

Looking forward to new overclocks and 3 untouched (kinda) season passes, grinding for 2 cosmetics a week was getting very stale. I'm over 80% total weapon xp and over 50 blank matrix cores. This new content has also given me a goal, gotta get resources and finish weapon xp before June.
Kinda wish for weapons but I love goo longshot/lots of laser/cryo minelets. Some perks would be nice too I'm sitting on so many perk points.

Replaying older seasons is the best thing they could do! I started in season four and I always wanted to try older stuff
I love the ability to go back to original seasons. Sometimes, I stop playing for a while and I miss out on a lot and have to grind for a while to get what I missed but just being able to get the items easier is a great improvement and should be followed by other games
