Produce everything local, what can be produced local, and stop cheap-slave outsourcing, with the decreasing skills in people with consumer-mentality, with the side effect of better air (hopefully the insanity of lithium-battery driven ships will not become implemented.
Even better rowing/cycling-boat-trainings-camp instead of foolish lifestyle-gyms?, and more true adventures instead of boring comfort?

This program is on AlJazerra which is fully funded by Qatari government and completely biased against current Egyptian President El-Sisi and his administration.
If you watch again carefully, you will see that the questions are directed to one side to switch this from an accidental thing to a political attack against El-Sisi especially from the Egyptian guest. Who’s is probably a Muslim Brotherhood member.
Qatar supported Muslim Brotherhood to rule Egypt and took over the revolution on 2011. The MBH turned Egypt from a liberal open country to a religious fanatic country.
El-Sisi with a permission from 30 million people who went on the streets on June 2013 to repel MBH, yes that’s right 30 million, he had to free Egypt from them and since that time Qatar leave no effort to ruin his reputation. But the truth is that he is one of the best if not by far the best Egyptian ruler ever. I can tell more about what he have done for Egypt since he took over in 2014.
BTW , he came to the presidency by free state elections.

    • @florianarbes
      @florianarbes 3 ปีที่แล้ว +41

Well, you can actually calculate it. Wind loads can be quite strong. They increase quadratical with the wind speed. Imagine you are in a storm and then you open your jacket and hold it like a sail. Now extrapolate that to the size of that ship, its 400m long and 50m high!
Lets say the gust wind speed was 18 m/s. From the physical properties of air follows the pressure on a horizontal wall is then 240 N/m2
Multiplying that by 400m length and 50 m height of the vessel gives you a force of 480 000 N. That is a massive force, it should be enough to move that ship. How fast is just a question of the resistance of the water.

That’s AlJazerra which is fully funded by Qatari government and completely biased against current Egyptian President El-Sisi. If you watch again carefully, you will see that the questions are directed to one side to switch this from an accidental things to a political attack against El-Sisi especially from the Egyptian guest.
I can tell you more about what he have done in Egypt since he took over in 2014. @@michaelesq.atpcfii.9862 I'm not saying anything...It's just...interesting...that this happened in the southern section of the canal, and not one of the northern sections where there are bypasses. If you wanted to block it, you couldn't pick a better spot. It's not just run aground, it's 50+ feet dug into the canal side. That bulbous bow you see sticking into the side of the canal gives perspective - the ship's keel sits more than 15 meters below the water line. The friction of 400k tons being dragged through sand and mud means it's effectively impossible to just pull it out, it'd take 300 of the largest tugs of earth to just pull it free through brute force.
Interestingly, much of Europe's crude comes from Africa and Russia now, although some of that African production is dependent on foreign engineers to actually operate, and some of it was drawn down last feb as the price collapsed. Peter Zeihan gave an excellent presentation on this topic last spring as it specifically relates to crude, he'll likely have better insight in the next coming weeks.

If you watch again carefully, you will see that the questions are directed to one side to switch this from an accidental things to a political attack against El-Sisi especially from the Egyptian guest.

To me, the answer is both simple, and obvious. If you have a huge object that’s stuck, you need something of sufficient power to release it. If tug boats aren’t up to the job, then you need something bigger, perhaps much, much bigger to pull it out, for example, an empty cargo ship.
You would need a lot of hardened steel and someone to form into a shape that would not only strengthen the front of the stuck ship, but also to allow it to be pulled with enough force to free it, but not break it.
Why the experts haven’t thought of this is beyond me 🤷‍♂️

Container ships aren't this big in general. This thing is severely under powered given its massive size and "sail area". 40 knot dust storm cross wind with zero visibility was too much for it.

@Fox Racing In the last few years container ships have been getting much bigger and deeper, but as Beddoe above said they've made them bigger yet they have not given them more power. No need for it to be "On Purpose". There is a video on harbors dredging their channels deeper to accommodate just these bigger container ships. Only ten years ago there were no container ships as big as Ever Given. It is ridiculous to allow shipping companies to force taxpayers to fund $300,000,000 dredging projects just to please greedy shippers.

I, dear friends, do not understand this bureaucracy with a container ship in the Suez Canal. I can advise several ways to quickly remove the container ship:
    1) Arrange a flash mob in the networks, paint avatars, share the hashtag "I/We are a container ship", declare a sit-in school strike.
    2) Invite the Avengers - although I think Hulk and Vision can handle it together.
    3) Ask the visionary of modernity, who previously dug super-fast tunnels, rescued children from caves and solved the problems with electricity in Australia. He must have something in reserve.
It can't be that an advanced civilization, led by the architects of the universe, in fact, was unable to easily and simply align some barge turned by the wind (!). And it can't be that some unfortunate wind can take and clog 12% of the world's trade.
...Or maybe the civilization imagines too much about itself?

My armchair engineer recommendation; winch from land pulling at stern, vacuum out material at bow, pump lighter than air gasses inside vessel, offload cargo by helicopter sacrificing cargo if need be. Reduce weight by any means. Push water towards vessel from both directions.
