Frost and Fists it is fun to do. I have painted on Rust and try this method. I feel that when I paint up the rust, the rust is more vibrant. This method I find that the rust is desaturated.

Oils are fantastic once you learn how to manipulate them. The thing to consider is that they take a while to dry.
