      You got it with the overheating battery, low brightness display and buggy software? Just asking because i am 1 week away from a new smartphone purchase and the Sony 1iii is kind of the way to go, except these 3 hudge manufacturer issues.

    • @geri8355
      @geri8355 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@omicSheep i'm a heavy user, at least 6 hours a day. The battery overheats sometimes but that does not influence its performance, and it cools down pretty quickly. Software is not buggy at all and brightness is very powerful, I have to keep it on low for my eyes. I have been having this phone for 1 year and a half and the only problem i had was the fingerprint sensor is dead lately and needs to be changed. Good luck with your choice.

    This is exactly why I still use a DAP. Between the cost and the size I find that a good mid-range DAP gives me everything I need and saves my battery on my mobile.

    Sony's entry level Xperia 10 III promises the same or very similar specs in terms of audio. It is also considerably cheaper. It would be interesting to test its audio capabilities. Cheers!

    I bought an Xperia 1iii a few weeks ago, its a beast! I usually listen with IEMs and either a wireless DAC/amp or dongle, I can thoroughly enjoy music from the Xperia's headphone socket, the Dolby sound feature makes a big difference though I discovered it by accident. I have an IEM that can sound very harsh with some music, usually distorted electric guitars, I think this is the upper mids range, it sounds fantastic from the Xperia 1iii, it completely kills that harshness, a real night and day type difference. Battery runtime was initially a little underwhelming for the first few days but I think it might condition itself during that period, I'm very satisfied with the runtime now. Before the Android 13 update my dongle wouldn't work in exclusive mode on Tidal, it now works fine.

    I have 2 Samsung phones, an S10 and an S21 and I'm still using the S10 mostly. This is because it has both removable media facilities and also a headphone socket.

    • @AudioFixation
      @AudioFixation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The S10 was the last great “galaxy s” phone IMHO. Is it updated to the latest software?

    • @666JGNotts
      @666JGNotts 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AudioFixation I've updated as far as it has prompted me to do and it's on Android version 11 which seems to be the same as my s21 android version. I also have an S7 Edge which I just use via wifi for apps, Sonos Controller and mp3 listening in the bedroom, but that is on an older version of Android.
      The reason I have so many phones is that they were provided by work and they don't need the old ones back when you get a new one.

Sound is so much more important :) Often I was leaving my dap/amp combo at home while traveling as it is simply too big. Sony and app you mentioned might be good enough! Thanks!

    Never had an android phone but really interested in this one. However, I was not aware of the issue of android resampling audio before. Does this mean that if I transfer my purchased flac files (a mix of cd quality and hi res) to this phone and listen to them using iem’s and the 3.5mm headphone jack, they will not be played back “bit perfect”? Thanks for your help

    • @AudioFixation
      @AudioFixation  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They will if you use the UAPP player app I mention which can bypass the resampling.

    • @ryanz6370

    • @ThePaulKM
      @ThePaulKM ปีที่แล้ว

      LG, no question. The Sony is great, but the LG basically threw everything they had at R&D into developing their audio system in order to become the best in the business. As great as Sony's audio prowess is in this phone (and it is great) it simply cannot touch the LG. Sad to see them gone.
